Well known for its unique location and spectacular views on the Penwith peninsula, 8 miles from Penzance, it is well worth visiting Lands End. The scenery at the most south westerly point of mainland Britain is breathtaking. Lands End has a particular significance as it is often used to suggest distance for example the distance from Lands End to John o' Groats in Scotland is a distance of 838 miles and many walks, races and charitable events start or finish here.
There are coastal paths to walk along and a chance to see the Atlantic ocean crashing over Longships Lighthouse, there to protect boats from the group of rocky islets just over a mile offshore. The headland has been designated an important plant area as there are many rare species of flora here. The climate at Lands End is oceanic and in the winter months winds reach around 20 - 25 knots which is windier than most of England.
Entrance into Lands End is free, you will only have to pay for your parking. Who wouldn't want to grab the chance of seeing basking sharks, seals and dolphins which are resident to these coastal waters?
