November - March, Sunday - Friday 9am - 4pm and April - October, Sunday - Friday 9am - 5pm
Geevor is one of the largest preserved tin mine sites in the country. During its operating period from 1911 - 1990 it produced 50,000 tons of black tin. The mine is now a museum and heritage centre covering 67 acres on the magnificent North Atlantic coast. The museum tells the story of what it was like for the miners who worked here, and in particular what happened on the surface and underground.
As a visitor you can walk through the mine buildings and see the original machinery as well as taking a tour in Wheal Mexico an 18th Century mine. There is a unique collection of mining artefacts, mineral displays and photographs of the mine and miners at work. A souvenir shop and cafe on site offers home cooked food with the best views in Cornwall.
