Situated only a 15 minute drive (or 45 minute gentle walk) from Newquay town centre, Crantock is a long, spacious sandy beach set on the River Gannel estuary. Understandably, it is a popular choice for visitors, - especially families - as the tidal river offers safe bathing and the beach is easily accessible from the National Trust car park. Voted Best British Beach 2013 by BBC Coast, the views from the dunes across the bay are simply stunning and the evening sunset is not to be missed either. Surfers of all abilities also favour this particular beach, which is patrolled by life guards during the peak season between May and September.
