Bodmin was the former county town of Cornwall for many years and the only Cornish town to be recorded in the Domesday Book, which was lodged in the town's prison during the First World War. The county prison is now a museum and open to the public. It was the first prison in the country to have separate cells. The oldest part of the town is made up of mainly granite buildings clustered around the Bodmin Beacon. The Beacon is a 144 feet tall obelisk in memory of Sir Walter Raleigh Gilbert. The area around the Beacon which has woodland and traditional hay meadow was declared a Local Nature Reserve in 1994.

Nearby Bodmin Moor, bisected by the newly expanded A30 is home to one of Cornwalls Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Reaching a height of 1,377 feet above sea level at Brown Willy, Cornwalls highest point. The heather covered granite moorland provides East Cornwall with the most stunning country views and rugged walks. Near Blisland you will find two of Cornwalls stone circles, the Trippet Stones and Stripple Stone Henge and just round the corner, one end of the famous Camel Trail. The 18 mile Camel Trail follows the route of the old railway along traffic free paths, providing a fairly flat cycle through Bodmin and Wadebridge out to Padstow, eminently suitable for families.

The "shed" had a lovely traditional comfortable feel.

Apologies for not replying sooner. Our tablet was not working properly and for some time we were without WiFi access. This property was a central location for our trips in Cornwall and Devon. Having off street parking was great, saved a lot of worry knowing it was always there. The under floor heating was appreciated. Some coat hooks and extra shelving in the bathroom would be handy. The front door which is opposite the bathroom needs curtains to maintain privacy. Was our 100 pounds security deposit returned?

Reply from Cornwalls Cottages on behalf of the Owners

Thank you so much for completing the review about your stay at Tractor Shed. Firstly, we confirm that your pre-authorised security deposit was released by us some time ago. The Owners have also asked us to thank you very much for your helpful feedback and they are so glad you had a lovely stay there.

Tractor shed is one of the best holiday cottages we have stayed at.

Tractor shed was everything we could have asked for and more. The owners went the extra mile to make it special with a couple of lovely extra touches on arrival that was a nice surprise after a long journey. I would highly recommend this cottage for a central Cornwall hub for days out while on holiday. We really enjoyed it and had a pleasant stay.

The cottage of sheds

To look a the exterior the property looks nice however a little crowded by the neighbors. Walk it and it's a different story. The high ceilings open out with the wood beams makes for an amazing sight if you're not used to it. There are no radiators as it's all under floor heating giving more space. Would happily go back for much longer than we did this time.

Exceptional Holiday Cottage

We arrived to find fresh flowers in a vase on the table and fresh fruit scones, jam and cream in the kitchen with a suggestion we sit and enjoy a cuppa while perusing the very comprehensive guide about the rules of the rental and the sites to be found in Cornwall. We had a lovely clean room with our daughter in her own separate bedroom. Lovely kitchenette fully furnished with anything that might be needed to cook including a microwave and dishwasher. A nice comfy lounge made a restful place to watch tv at night. There was also a DVD player and a CD player for entertainment. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to re book if ever in the area again. Only one very small disappointment was that a washer and drier were advertised and this no longer applies. Found a nice little launderette nearby though the and problem solved.

Excellent location for touring Cornwall

The cottage is in a great location for touring Cornwall being at the intersections of the A30 and A38 and with 4 major supermarkets in the town it is easy to stock up on food. The cottage is small but clean, the furniture is in good condition and the small kitchen has most items you will need for your stay. The owner lives in the house directly opposite and was very friendly and helpful.

Comfortable, nicely presented place to stay in Bodmin with helpful owners

We found the tractor shed to be a comfortable, clean place to stay in Bodmin. The owners were helpful, providing us with the odd thing that was missing (a corkscrew) and allowing us to store our bikes at the property. Bodmin is a good base for cycling and for touring Cornwall, but a bit limited in terms of places to eat.

Excellent stay

We had a lovely stay at the tractor shed. Everything you needed was available including a small bottle of milk, tea and coffee and the cream teas were very welcome. There was a short walk into town down the hill which was quite a struggle to get back up. We chose a central location so that we could visit both coasts and it was just perfect.

Awesome first impression of a superb accommodation made even better by the fresh cream tea that welcomed us. Could not fault The Tractor Shed for cleanliness, equipment or comfort . Christmas Stay

We had a very comfortable stay. We wish we could have had Wi-Fi but did not see anyone to ask and it was not on any of the literature that was left. The oven was difficult to use as it did not have any temperature markings. We will probably stay there again as it is very convenient for visits to our family.

Reply from Michelle - Rhind Street Barns

Many thanks for your feedback we are really glad you enjoyed your stay. I can confirm that your comments have been duly noted, I would like to apologise for the wifi issue, we have recently changed provider and had not put an updated details leaflet in the Tractor Shed, I can confirm that following your feedback this has been rectified, I can only apologise if this inconvenienced you during your stay. With regard to the temperature markings we are currently investigating what action we can take, but you have made a very valid point so thankyou, in the meantime we have put another copy of the oven manual in the welcome pack, which somehow had been removed, hopefully this helps somewhat, until we can resolve this. If you do return to us again and you have any queries or concerns whatsoever, please feel free to pop across to the barn opposite and raise any concerns with Keith the owner.
