Property Location

St Mawes is one of the finest waterside villages in Cornwall. Situated overlooking an idyllic bay on the eastern side of the famous Falmouth Estuary, St Mawes has one of the mildest climates in Britain due to its proximity to the Gulf Stream. The sea is at the heart of the village and has helped to shape St Mawes from the little fishing village to the fashionable holiday destination that is so popular with visitors. A mecca for boating enthusiasts, St Mawes is a particularly popular sailing centre. Weekly club racing, village regattas and larger events are commonplace on the superb waters of the bay all through the summer.

St Mawes has so much to offer the visitor. St Mawes Castle was built by Henry VIII and is a splendid place to take in the views of the Carrick Roads. There are miles of coastal and countryside walks to take in and some idyllic beaches on which to relax and watch the world go by. The little Place ferry takes visitors to explore St Anthony's Head or there are regular ferries to Falmouth. Being situated on the seafront, the village is also known for the restaurants and pubs that serve superb fish and shellfish dishes all year round. There is a selection of pubs & hotels with restaurants (including the renowned Tresanton Hotel) all within easy walking distance. There is a range of shops all within a few minutes’ walk including a Cooperative store, Post Office, chemist, butcher, baker and art & clothes shops. The village also has a doctor’s surgery and a dentist’s surgery.

Another lovely stay at The Whitehouse

We had another lovely stay for just over two weeks at The Whitehouse with our two dogs. Everything was fine except there is a gap underneath the 5 bar gate & we had to put something there to stop the dogs joining other dog walkers on the lane. The weather was beautiful the first week but unfortunately that was followed by a week of high winds & rain, we were warm & comfortable & enjoyed our meals out in St.Mawes especially the Tresanton Hotel where they have a dog bar & served delicious meals. I would definitely recommend staying there, the views are fabulous.

Fabulous Views

The house itself is old but that is part of its charm. We had another lovely stay at the White House and love its quiet location even though it is very close to St Mawes harbour as well as the and fantastic views.

Property in an lovely situation and with some updating would be ideal.

The sitting room and bedrooms were excellent. The bathrooms and kitchen would benefit from some TLC. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

From the Owner:
We are delighted you enjoyed your time in the White House, but a little disappointed to have some comments about the tlc needed and cleanliness, our housekeeper will be really sad as this is a traditional house, which has character, and which has so many happy families having a lovely time without white sofas and pale carpets in a prime spot with a beautiful garden too.

Top Trumps White House in St Mawes

We have recently returned from an absolutely superb family holiday in St Mawes. The great success of this trip was in no small part due to the excellent property we rented for the week. The White House is a charming and spacious Edwardian residence with generous accommodation and grounds in a splendid location with views over the bay and within 10 or 15 minutes walk of the village centre and harbour. The property was very well furnished and equipped throughout and very comfortable for all of us (nine in total including one toddler) We have stayed many times in St Mawes when our four children were younger and it was great fun rediscovering our favourite places, walks, trips and hostelries and finding to our delight that St Mawes hasn't really changed at all.
