Bodmin was the former county town of Cornwall for many years and the only Cornish town to be recorded in the Domesday Book, which was lodged in the town's prison during the First World War. The county prison is now a museum and open to the public. It was the first prison in the country to have separate cells. The oldest part of the town is made up of mainly granite buildings clustered around the Bodmin Beacon. The Beacon is a 144 feet tall obelisk in memory of Sir Walter Raleigh Gilbert. The area around the Beacon which has woodland and traditional hay meadow was declared a Local Nature Reserve in 1994.
Nearby Bodmin Moor, bisected by the newly expanded A30 is home to one of Cornwalls Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Reaching a height of 1,377 feet above sea level at Brown Willy, Cornwalls highest point. The heather covered granite moorland provides East Cornwall with the most stunning country views and rugged walks. Near Blisland you will find two of Cornwalls stone circles, the Trippet Stones and Stripple Stone Henge and just round the corner, one end of the famous Camel Trail. The 18 mile Camel Trail follows the route of the old railway along traffic free paths, providing a fairly flat cycle through Bodmin and Wadebridge out to Padstow, eminently suitable for families.
Guest from Terrace Bay stayed for 4 nights.
This is the cleanest and most tastefully redecorated accom we've ever stayed in. Very convenient location for exploring Cornwall
Guest from Leicester stayed for 7 nights.
I booked this property based on previous occupants reviews and was not disappointed. It is very clean, comfortable and well equipped in a quiet location in Bodmin. The location is ideal for visiting the many attractions in the region and I recommend this property.
Guest from Norwich stayed for 7 nights.
Tractor shed was everything we could have asked for and more. The owners went the extra mile to make it special with a couple of lovely extra touches on arrival that was a nice surprise after a long journey. I would highly recommend this cottage for a central Cornwall hub for days out while on holiday. We really enjoyed it and had a pleasant stay.
Guest from Redcar stayed for 7 nights.
We enjoyed our stay at the tractor shed, when we arrived there was fresh flowers in the room and home made scones for us. We were greeted by the owner. It was in an ideal location for exploring the Cornish countryside and coasts. I would definitely recommend it and would stay again.

Lovely, comfortable and very clean little cottage, perfect for just the two of us. Bodmin ideal base for visiting all of Cornwall. Very friendly welcome and lovely cream tea waiting for us inside the cottage.

Very nice en cosy cottage - modern with comfort- nice kitchen-good location for trips in the region-
Guest from Basingstoke stayed for 6 nights.
To look a the exterior the property looks nice however a little crowded by the neighbors. Walk it and it's a different story. The high ceilings open out with the wood beams makes for an amazing sight if you're not used to it. There are no radiators as it's all under floor heating giving more space. Would happily go back for much longer than we did this time.
Guest from Brisbane stayed for 3 nights.
We arrived to find fresh flowers in a vase on the table and fresh fruit scones, jam and cream in the kitchen with a suggestion we sit and enjoy a cuppa while perusing the very comprehensive guide about the rules of the rental and the sites to be found in Cornwall. We had a lovely clean room with our daughter in her own separate bedroom. Lovely kitchenette fully furnished with anything that might be needed to cook including a microwave and dishwasher. A nice comfy lounge made a restful place to watch tv at night. There was also a DVD player and a CD player for entertainment. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to re book if ever in the area again. Only one very small disappointment was that a washer and drier were advertised and this no longer applies. Found a nice little launderette nearby though the and problem solved.
Guest from Wroclaw stayed for 4 nights.
Very nice place, good standard of accommodation, clean and lovely. Nice adaptation of an old farm buildings.
Guest from Warrington stayed for 7 nights.
The cottage is in a great location for touring Cornwall being at the intersections of the A30 and A38 and with 4 major supermarkets in the town it is easy to stock up on food. The cottage is small but clean, the furniture is in good condition and the small kitchen has most items you will need for your stay. The owner lives in the house directly opposite and was very friendly and helpful.
Guest from St. Albans stayed for 7 nights.
We found the tractor shed to be a comfortable, clean place to stay in Bodmin. The owners were helpful, providing us with the odd thing that was missing (a corkscrew) and allowing us to store our bikes at the property. Bodmin is a good base for cycling and for touring Cornwall, but a bit limited in terms of places to eat.
Guest from Ossett stayed for 7 nights.
We had a lovely stay at the tractor shed. Everything you needed was available including a small bottle of milk, tea and coffee and the cream teas were very welcome. There was a short walk into town down the hill which was quite a struggle to get back up. We chose a central location so that we could visit both coasts and it was just perfect.

Awesome first impression of a superb accommodation made even better by the fresh cream tea that welcomed us. Could not fault The Tractor Shed for cleanliness, equipment or comfort . The location was perfect, firstly for walking distance to central Bodmin giving a choice of local pubs and restaurants, secondly for touring both south and north Cornwall. Looking forward to coming back.
Guest from Charlbury stayed for 3 nights.
As a family and with friends we have been a number of times. We were one of the first people to visit the Tractor Shed and apart from the additional buildings on site it ha not changed. It is very convenient as we have family in Bodmin.

Perfect base for exploring Cornwall. The Tractor Shed was 1st class accommodation and we could not fault in any way. On an old review there was reference made to old dated TV but on our visit this has all been upgraded.

Lovely wee place, was exactly what we were looking for. The Tractor Shed was clean, with everything you would expect in a home. Would definitely stay there again.

Guest from Redhill stayed for 7 nights.
A lovely clean and comfortable barn conversion with bags of character, very well equipped and a great shower! The cream tea waiting for us was a nice touch as well :-) we couldn't connect to the wi-fi which was a bit annoying and the TV was a bit dated, but that doesn't detract from what was a very enjoyable stay in superb accommodation!!
Guest from Charlbury stayed for 6 nights.
We had a very comfortable stay again. This must be the fourth time we have stayed in the The Tractor Shed as it is very convenient for us to see our daughter who lives in Bodmin.
Guest from Charlbury stayed for 4 nights.
We had a very comfortable stay. We wish we could have had Wi-Fi but did not see anyone to ask and it was not on any of the literature that was left. The oven was difficult to use as it did not have any temperature markings. We will probably stay there again as it is very convenient for visits to our family.
Many thanks for your feedback we are really glad you enjoyed your stay. I can confirm that your comments have been duly noted, I would like to apologise for the wifi issue, we have recently changed provider and had not put an updated details leaflet in the Tractor Shed, I can confirm that following your feedback this has been rectified, I can only apologise if this inconvenienced you during your stay. With regard to the temperature markings we are currently investigating what action we can take, but you have made a very valid point so thankyou, in the meantime we have put another copy of the oven manual in the welcome pack, which somehow had been removed, hopefully this helps somewhat, until we can resolve this. If you do return to us again and you have any queries or concerns whatsoever, please feel free to pop across to the barn opposite and raise any concerns with Keith the owner.
