For those wishing to sample the enormous strength of the Atlantic Ocean will do well to bring their surf boards to the Atlantic Coast. From Chapel Porth above Porthtowan, passing Perranporth, along to Fistral Beach and Watergate Bay at Newquay, up to Trevose Head and Polzeath past Padstow you will find all the best surfing beaches in the South West, of not only Cornwall but also England. The cliffs surrounding these beaches are nothing short of dramatic. In contrast to the gently rolling shores of the south coast, the north have dark mysterious drops where land has been eaten by the atlantic ocean, hence why the waves are far better here. Inland you will find Wheal Coates Mine, now looked after by the National Trust, part of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site. St Agnes is part of only 12 sites in Cornwall awarded Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Newquay is not only famous for Fistral Beach, but Newquay Airport connects the county to places such as the Isles of Scilly, Edinburgh and Alicante. The Saints Way Trail is a 30 mile path from Padstow on the Atlantic Coast to Fowey on the South Coast. Padstow is more commonly known as Rick Stein country following the success of his numerous businesses in the town. Lucky really that the National Lobster Hatchery is just a stones throw away. Wadebridge, once a Market Town is now more widely known as being part of The Camel Trail, that takes the cyclist out to Padstow from the depths of Bodmin Moor.
Occupying a dramatic valley location with one of the most spectacular and beautiful beaches of the Atlantic Coast, Porthtowan has been drawing visitors for years to take advantage of its natural sun trap. A superb location for a holiday to Cornwall with a fine beach and close to good main roads means that you can easily explore the surrounding area on days that are not conducive to sitting on the beach.
Porthtowan has one of Cornwall's finest surfing waves. Producing good waves at all states of the tide, the wave is particularly good in an easterly or south easterly when it really pumps with some lovely hollow barrels. It is not for the faint hearted and beginners should be careful. An excellent surf school operates from the beach. At low tide the beach stretches down to St Agnes Head and Chapel Porth Beach where you will find a lovely National Trust Cafe full of warming hot chocolate and fabulous views.
The city of Truro is 4 miles away and has a wide selection of good shopping including a Tescos, Sainsburys, Marks & Spencer and many other high street outlets. There is also a cinema and a great selection of restaurants, pubs & cafes. The resort of Newquay is about 12 miles to the north with its spectacular surf beaches at Fistral & Watergate Bay. Jamie Oliver's "Fifteen" restaurant is located here. Padstow, with its fine selection of restaurants influenced by Rick Stein is just over 20 miles. Harbourside towns & villages such as Fowey, Falmouth & St Mawes are all within easy reach. For those flying to Cornwall, the airport is within easy reach.
The Cathedral City of Truro is in the heart of Cornwall and offers a wealth of facilities for the visitor. Dominated by the stunning cathedral, it is one of the south west's most attractive cities. Lemon Quay plays host to many events throughout the year including the Cornwall Food & Drink Festival in the Autumn and the famous Truro Fatstock Show just before Christmas. Regular farmers markets occur every Wednesdays & Saturday and there are also arts & craft markets on Saturdays.
There is a wonderful range of shopping for the visitor including all the regular high street stores, but Truro also has a wide range of more specialist stores. It really is worth a wander through the back streets and alleys to find some fabulous little boutiques.
Truro has a superb range of restaurants from Bustopher Jones & Mannings on Lemon Street to the always popular Pizza Express. There are lively bars, pubs & nightclubs including the superb Old Ale House, a busy Wetherspoons and the infamous L2 if you are so inclined! The Hall for Cornwall hosts everything from Shakespeare to rock concerts and the cinema on Lemon Street has all the latest releases.

Firstly we arrive to find enough space to park 4 car or more comfortably. The milk, tea, coffee, sugar and cakes was very much appreciated after a long journey. The Old Dairy is in a beautiful location and so easy to get around from. There is plenty of space for everyone not to get under each other's feet. The outside space is very big and secure for small children and pets. We noted the reviews about the towels and they were right they are small, but staying that it's not difficult to bring your own. If I'm being very picky I would have loved to have a individual draw units in the bedrooms and perhaps a clock in the kitchen. We would highly recommend The Old Dairy, but saying that perhaps it's better to keep it secret so it is easy to rebook. Wonderful place, wonderful holiday
Guest from Burnham-on-crouch stayed for 7 nights.
Ideal place for family get together; children and adults alike. Kitchen well equipped for larger numbers. Good parking for up to 5 vehicles. Only criticism is that the towels were not of a quality you would expect for such a property.
Guest from Donnybrook stayed for 7 nights.
A fabulous house when in a large group with absolutely everything we needed. Location wasn't excellent but was very quiet which made up for the extra few miles. I would recommend his place to anyone wanting a large modern house for a large group with hosts who had thought of everything!

I always feel that your holiday home should be no less quality than your own home. The Old Dairy surpasses this. Its a warm welcoming house with well appointed spacious rooms. Theres was welcoming cakes in the fridge and a lovely bunch of flowers on the table. Nice touch! To have 4 bathrooms and an extra toilet is so well planned and means no waiting for bathroom access as you have in a lot of holiday homes. The kitchen is well stocked with quality items and it was lovely to have so much fridge/freezer space. The outside space is safe for children and they have a lovely raised bbq area with gate access. Being a senior person who can no longer lie on a blanket it would have been nice to have a couple of sun loungers but as theres no shed I dont know where they would store them. We wanted somewhere away from the hustle and bustle of towns/coasts We found its location although very rural, very central just perfect to be able to explore the north or south of Cornwall as A30 was so close. During our stay I had a few queries which were answered by the owners very promptly.
Guest from Wedmore stayed for 3 nights.
Good location to explore Cornwall. The property is clean, spacious and suitable for 10 people. However there was only 7 people in my party and there was not enough hot water for all to shower. It was only like warm We did have a problem with the heating. This was corrected in the first 24 hours and temporary heaters were made available. When we contacted the owner they took action to rectify

Lovely cottage in a lovely location with plenty of space for a holiday with grandparents. Just a couple of minor niggles ... lack of hot water, missing microwave, not overly clean (we found broken glass on the floor upon arrival), the towels are two small and have seen better days and pillows could do with replacing. It would also have been nice to have been told prior to our arrival that there was building works being carried out next door as being woken up by reversing lorries, the bleeping forklift and the darn angle grinder was far from ideal! But hopefully this is only a short term issue.
Thank you for your feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay on the whole, but are sorry to hear that you experienced a few issues. Unfortunately, the microwave was damaged by previous guests and so removed by the cleaners as it was unsafe to use, and we had not had a chance to replace it prior to your arrival. However, we apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused, and for not letting you know it was missing (it has now been replaced). We will speak to our cleaners about the housekeeping issues. We were unaware of the issue with the hot water until we received your feedback, so thank you for raising this, and we are sorry it was not working properly. Had we known about this during your stay, we could have rectified it as it appears to be caused by an issue with the hot water timer, which we will now address. Finally, we are sorry to hear that the neighbouring building work disturbed you, and for not informing you about it. We have asked the builder to limit noise early in the morning, but unfortunately the timing of site deliveries cannot always be controlled. However, as you say, this is a short term issue and we are working with the builder to minimise the disruption in the meantime.

We had the best time staying at the Old Dairy at Tregavethan. We needed it for work, as we had a massive music project across the whole county and needed somewhere central to stay. The house is in a great location - quiet and relaxing for the time we spent at home, and close to major roads in Cornwall to make our travel really easy. The house itself was so well equipped - plenty of space, plenty of parking for the 5 cars we were using, kitchen well stocked with utensils, plenty of entertainment options, and an amazing garden! Couldn't rate this property more highly, it was just brilliant. We will definitely be coming back next time we have a big project in Cornwall!
Guest from Doncaster stayed for 4 nights.
The old dairy is beautiful. It was perfect for our visit to Cornwall. It was 5 minutes from my friends and 10 minutes from Truro. If you don't like cornish high hedged lanes you would not like the location of the old dairy but there are plentry of pull ins. Although it was only for a short break it would be ideal for much longer and for a larger group of people. My 2 year old loved all the space and in summer with the gardens I'm sure we would never get her in. The welcome cakes, flowers and milk were very welcoming and made everything even more homely. The log burner was easy to use and made the evenings extra cosy. I would definitely consider staying here again and recommend to others.

We stayed at the Old Dairy for a family wedding. It was perfect for our needs; we were able to give dinner to 12 people easily round the enormous kitchen table and we all enjoyed the very peaceful surroundings. Thank you.
Guest from Bristol stayed for 3 nights.
We booked the Old Dairy for a family gathering and found the accommodation to be excellent value for money. It's really spacious and well-equipped. Well laid out with everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Comfortable beds and almost as many bathrooms as there were occupants! The flowers and cupcakes waiting for us on our arrival were also a lovely touch.
Guest from Salisbury stayed for 7 nights.
As a family we rent a holiday home every Christmas so we can all spend the holiday together. Upon arrival to which it is very easy to find, we were greeted by some lovely home made flapjacks, fresh flowers and milk in the fridge which I must say was a lovely welcome after a 200 mile drive down. The old dairy was by far the nicest I have stayed in, it was neat, had everything we needed and was very spacious! I had my two little chihuahuas with us and was very anxious to whether the garden was safe enough for them to go out and not escape to which it was very secure and put all our minds at rest. The drive way was a good size for all four cars to park with plenty of space to move which is always a bonus as not many places have that much space. The old dairy is situated in the countryside with beautiful walks to go on etc but if you want to go shopping or out for food it's only about a 10 minute drive. I would say the only thing that went wrong with us is we couldn't get the underfloor heating to work properly and the hot water but my husband made one phone call to the lady on the contact list and she sent someone out within a couple of hours and he sorted it within an hour which was fantastic seeing as it was Christmas Eve! All in all I would highly recommend staying here and will definitely be staying here again!

Our second stay at The Old Dairy, need I say more? It was excellent, close to Truro and many gorgeous beaches. Recommended very highly.
Guest from Chatteris stayed for 7 nights.
An ideally situated, spacious, converted barn with a large elevated patio and lawn. Within an hour or so of Lands End to the west and the Devon border to the east. Supermarkets within ten minutes and yet all the peace and quiet you could wish for. The narrowness of the local roads is, at first,a little daunting but patience is a virtue and you get used to them, and wherever we went in Cornwall we were faced with the same roads so it is not peculiar to Tregavethan. The only minor inconvenience was the size of the towels but, having read earlier reviews, we went prepared. We met our landlords family and they speedily sorted out one or two minor issues. They also arranged for a vase of flowers, a dozen or so muffins, tea, milk and sugar to welcome us. An exceptionally generous and most welcome gesture at the end of a very long drive. All in all I cannot think of a better location or accommodation from which to explore Cornwall or to just chill out.
Guest from Newton Abbot stayed for 7 nights.
The Old Dairy was the perfect size and in a perfect location for our family. Four generations stayed here for a week. It was clean, comfortable and offered enough space for everyone. We particularly liked being able to sit around the dinner table of an evening and play with the children on the ample sized lawns. The only (minor) criticisms that we have are the size of the towels provided - they were really small - and there was only one tray for the oven (but we bought a couple and left them, so that sorts that!) Overall, our holiday was fabulous and staying in a beautiful house was the icing on the cake. We would not hesitate to stay here again.
Guest from Brighton stayed for 7 nights.
Tregavethan is a lovely, quiet spot which is convenient for exploring Cornwall. The house was great. Best to arrive in daylight as the roads close to the house are narrow with high hedgerows.
Guest from Bristol stayed for 7 nights.
On arrival, the house was spotless. Double fridge/freezer so handy, we were able to take some frozen ready prepared meals with us, and still had room for fresh food, booze, ice lollies etc. Kitchen well equipped with plenty of crockery. Lovely large wide dinning table with plenty of room to place serving dishes in the centre of table. We were a party of 10 + 2 babies in high chairs, + 2 dogs and we were all able to sit around the table. The house, rooms and garden are all a good size and never do you feel on top of one another. The cottage is in a very quiet rural area but in a perfect position for getting about in Cornwall. Perranporth and Watergate Bay are 10-15 mins away. Large Sainsbury's supermarket only 5 mins drive towards Truro. Would definitely reccomend to friends.

Our 2nd stay at the Old Dairy. Again we found the accommodation layout perfect for 3 generations. We were also pleased that the standard of cleaning had improved significantly since our stay in 2015. Some areas still required attention however such as the tiles in the en suite ground floor double bedroom. The amenities are good, the location excellent - quiet but easy reach to Truro, beaches and trunk roads. Comfortable beds, plenty of bathrooms and an abundance of hot water. Providing some Garden furniture for the large enclosed front garden would in our opinion further improve the comfort at the Old Dairy. Benches are provided in the larger back garden which is up a short flight of steps. Thanks for the welcoming flowers, milk and home made flapjack - much appreciated. Overall would strongly recommend this property.

This is a fantastic place to stay with plenty of room and excellent bathroom facilities, large gardens and BBQ area set in the rural area of Truro. With large rooms , all mod cons and wifi the Old Dairy is a five star experience where we all enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend to all. A very easy to use booking system just adds to the experience, excellent staff and flowers and Cup cakes on our arrival made us all feel very welcome. A big thank you to all the staff

We rented the Old Dairy for a family holiday at the end of June - four households including a baby, a young boy and a dog. It was the perfect property for us - lots of room inside and outside for everyone to have their own space, and the kitchen and lounge were plenty big enough for everyone to gather. Furnishings and beds were comfortable and the plentiful bathrooms were modern and well equipped. The double fridge-freezer, dishwasher and modern stove/oven were especially appreciated, as were the kitchen supplies and welcome goodies. During the week, we made lots of day trips to nearby locations - Newquay, Falmouth, St. Ives, St. Agnes, Mevagissey, Penzance - nowhere was far. We felt The Old Dairy was excellent value for money.
Guest from Goring-on-thames,oxon stayed for 7 nights.
Property was very good for our needs, however as mentioned above the flooring needed a good and proper cleaning, I had to clean out washing machine dispenser this was filthy and I had to clean dryer from fluff before using either. This I would have thought should be done by the cleaners before anyone goes into the property.
Guest from Honiton stayed for 7 nights.
Set not far from Truro and the A30 The Old Dairy is in a cracking quiet rural spot just 15/20 min from both coasts. The quality barn conversion is spacious and very comfortable, with a very well equipped kitchen large sitting room as well as games room and utility. 2 bedrooms on the ground floor were great for us with a young daughter away from the rest of the family but would be perfect for those that might find stairs more difficult. Outside there is plenty of parking and large private patio and expansive lawns. I would recommend the property to anyone, especially a large family.
Guest from Southampton stayed for 7 nights.
Welcoming vase of flowers, milk and delicious flapjack greatly appreciated. Great to find coffee, tea and sugar supplied. Lovely peaceful position and close to beaches and attractions. Plenty of space to park our three cars, comfortable beds and a well equipped kitchen. A few observations:- a) solar heating caused strange water noises above the twin bedded room upstairs especially annoying when the two little girls went to bed at 7.30pm ( it did go off at 10pm) b) The noise of the bees in the loft space above our bed (double with ensuite upstairs) was annoying but we are aware the owners were dealing with this after we left. c) sadly 3 tall water glasses fell over in the dishwasher and broke probably because they were too tall. d) some dessert sized forks and smaller knives would be useful for the older children that found the large ones too big e) we found the two basins in the ensuite shower rooms rather small. f) we thought the cushions in the lounge were a bit shabby, not in keeping with the rest of the furnishings. However overall we had a fantastic week with lovely weather.

The Old Dairy is a wonderful holiday location if you're wanting to get away from it all whilst not being further than 5 minutes journey by car from the edge of Truro and all that this town has to offer! Each of the members of our party of 10 (including 2 babies and 2 dogs) enjoyed ourselves immensely! There are beautiful views, amazing walks and the Old Dairy is such a lovely home in which we were comfortable in as we walked through the door! Please may we just say that there was dog's hair (not ours) across the back on one of the sofas and the lint and water collector in tumble dryer hadn't been cleared, so wouldn't work until this was done (flashing red power button isn't a good sign!). Neither of these were an issue for us as we had dogs ourselves and I have the exact model tumble dryer so knew to empty and clear the lint from the tumble dryer so that it was usable but it obviously could constitute a fire hazard! Thank you so very much for allowing us the privilege to stay at the Old Dairy, we will be back!!!!

The old dairy has been converted to a very high standard with lovely large rooms and flexible accommodation with bedrooms on the ground floor. Great location, with a very large garden for the dogs x we had a very nice holiday. Would use it again.
Guest from Wellingborough stayed for 4 nights.
The old dairy is tucked away in a quiet hamlet within easy reach of both coast lines of Cornwall. The bedrooms are spacious and with ensuites in some, it makes getting ready for the day less of a hassle. The house has plenty of room for the 9 people in our party and no-one got in anybody's way. The kitchen was very well equipped, the lounge comfortable and the little games room was well used by the 3 children with us. The large lawn and patio were a welcome addition and big enough for football and cricket games. We were very pleased with the stay and will return. We agreed that because there are 2 ground floor bedrooms, perhaps the owners would consider putting a wet room in one of them so that disabled people might be accommodated.
Guest from Newton Abbot stayed for 4 nights.
Stayed at the Old Dairy for 4 nights with 3 generations of the same family and 2 dogs. Great central location, with easy access to both the north and south coast of Cornwall. Secure gardens for both children and dogs to play. The Old Dairy remained warm throughout the stay with underfloor heating and an excellent log fire in the lounge. Would recommend a stay to others.
Guest from St. Leonards-on-sea stayed for 7 nights.
There were 10 of us in the house, but we weren't 'on top' of each other.. Beautiful house, remote location plenty of space. We had a couple of things that we informed the owners of. Despite the fact the themselves were on holiday the response was quick and action taken within hours. Would definitely go there again.
Guest from Plymouth stayed for 3 nights.
What can I say? The Old Dairy at Tregavethen was the best yet. For the past four years our family have got together leading up to Christmas just to spend time as a family. We have grown from nine (8 adults and 1child) at the start to thirteen now (5 children) and have to say that The Old Dairy was just excellent. Roomy enough for everyone, everything you need for a break was supplied, easy access from the A30 and Truro city centre and within easy reach of beaches at St Agnes and Perranporth. All in all, SUPERB.
Guest from Bridgwater stayed for 5 nights.
The tea and coffee kit, milk, and flapjacks left for us were very welcome after a long journey. The Old Dairy is roomy and warm, with under-floor heating everywhere, and with excellent facilities. The property has a natural division into three sleeping areas: a main double bedroom, and two 'wings' each with a double and a twin room. It's a pity the internet connection failed to work, and BT were unable to fix it before we left, but the owner was very friendly, and did her best to have it fixed. More disappointing, though, were a couple of cleanliness issues: the mould in the en-suite shower of the main bedroom; and the grease-laden filters of the cooker hood, which still felt greasy after two attempts at cleaning them (had they ever been cleaned?). There were also a couple of minor maintenance issues, which were of no immediate consequence to us. Those issues aside, we enjoyed our stay, and we appreciated the flexibility of being able to make a Tuesday to Sunday booking in October. All in all, a really nice property for an extended family group.

This year was our 4th stay at The Old Dairy. The large kitchen diner, lounge and games room works really well for large parties, providing plenty of living space for everyone - particulary if you have lots of wet weather and end up spending a fair amount of time inside :o) I'm sure we will be back again.
Guest from Bedford stayed for 7 nights.
A spacious property ideal for 3 generations of the same family +dog. Good all round modern facilities and particularly appreciated the quiet location via narrow lanes, yet easy access to the A30 and A390. Large secure gardens ideal for children and the dog. Plenty of hot water and the house temperature was very comfortable throughout.Although the bathrooms and bedding were fine, more attention needs to be paid to other areas - the windows were filthy and we mopped the floors twice before they looked clean. Perhaps there was a temporary lull in cleaning standards as most other review have scored 5. Some seating would also have been appreciated for the Front large garden which is a real sun trap. Addressing both these points would really provide a 5 star property.
Guest from Rochdale stayed for 7 nights.
We stayed at the Old Dairy last week and we all had a great time. the accommodation is great, clean, and beautifully done. the land to the rear of the property was great for the 4 children to play outside, cricket, football and keep themselves entertained when we were not seeing the sights of Cornwall. the location was fab, really good access to local beauty spots and things to do. On our arrival the owners had put fresh flowers and left us a sweet treat which was a lovely touch. Thoroughly enjoyed this holiday and would very much like to make this trip again and stay at the Old Dairy.

The conversion of the Old Dairy has been executed very well, having two bedrooms at ground level was particularly appropriate for our party(my mother is 94 and not very mobile).
Guest from Taunton stayed for 7 nights.
A superb conversion in an ideal location near Truro and convenient for both coasts. It was ideal for three generations of one family as there was ample space and the bedroom/ensuite arrangements allowed for privacy. The younger/family element opted for downstairs so the grandchildren could watch TV or get their breakfast without disturbing the oldies! The weather was mixed so the large kitchen and lounge area were more than welcome. The large fridge/freezer was a boon as we did not need to shop every day. The outside area with BBQ was well used with plenty of space for outdoor games. It would have been good to have some more relaxing garden furniture however we appreciate that there would be a need for outside lockable storage to keep this safe. There was ample room for three cars. A welcome touch on arrival was the vase of flowers, the home-made cupcakes and milk in the fridge - thank you. All in all, lovely accommodation and we would definitely stay there again.
Guest from Stoke On Trent stayed for 7 nights.
We were a family of 4 adults, 4 children aged 1-6 and a dog. Very child friendly with board games, pool table and a huge enclosed garden for them to play in. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. All the little extras you need when you have little ones...secure stairgate, highchairs all available. The kitchen was very well equipped with more than enough crockery/cutlery. Only downside was how warm upstairs seemed to get at night. We didnt need any heating on during our stay (April) but during the night the upstairs bedrooms were unbearably warm; grandparents stayed downstairs and said it was fine. Excellent location, just 10 mins from Truro plus we explored somewhere different everyday. Lands End was just 40-45 mins drive away. Newquay and Holywell Bay around 10-15 mins. We will definitely be returning!

A lovely cottage, I'm a super location, we immediately felt at home and enjoyed our stay thoroughly, and will definitely be coming back. Thank you so much.
Guest from Bristol stayed for 7 nights.
We enjoyed a week at the Old Dairy, and found it very warm and welcoming. The flapjack and milk left for us were a thoughtful extra and the owners very helpful. The barn itself was very spacious, and having 2 bedrooms downstairs and 3 upstairs made it ideal for our family of 5 and 3 grandparents! It would work equally well for 2 families. The games room complete with pool table was used extensively by the whole family! The kitchen was enormous, and having 2 huge fridges meant we had plenty of room to accommodate a large Sainsbury's delivery! The lounge was also very spacious, with 3 huge sofas which easily seated everyone. The enclosed garden area was a great space to let our dog run around, and would be an ideal area for enjoying the barbeque in warmer weather. The barn is situated in a tiny hamlet, which is very peaceful and perfect for star gazing! We enjoyed some great walks within the immediate surrounding area, as well as venturing further afield to St Ives and Falmouth (both 30-40 minutes), Portreath (lovely beach, 5 miles) and Truro (about 6 miles away). We would definitely consider returning to the Old Dairy, and would have no hesitation in recommending it!
Thank you for your review. We are so pleased to hear that you all enjoyed your stay in our cottage and found it a good base for exploring Cornwall. We hope to welcome you back again!

The house is very well designed and offers great space inside and out. There is plenty of cutlery and china to actually entertain the number of people the house can sleep, and all the appliances are good quality.

The old Dairy is a great place to stay for all the family & anybody with mobility difficulties as the ground floor has everything you need and more, wheelchairs included. We look forward to many more stays here in the future The Owners, Caretaker, Housekeepers & the staff at Cornwalls Cottages all went the extra mile to ensure we had a good holiday. Many thanks to all of you.

Guest from Saxton, Leeds stayed for 14 nights.
This is a fantastic size house for a large family, like ours, or a couple of families together. The garden is huge and perfect for the children to play in as is it is all enclosed and they insisted on dining Al Fresco every evening! We had a few issues when we got there, mainly the cleanliness of the property was not anywhere near the standard we expected. The owners were very responsive, being away themselves, and offered to have the cleaners come back but unfortunately we had been there for two days at that point and had all our things unpacked, including four childrens clutter everywhere! There were things that could be improved with the house and this could very easily be a five star property with very little effort. The owners have taken our comments on board and are moving forward with improvements. The location of the property is perfect. Truro is ten minutes away, so are the local supermarkets. It is ideal for getting to everywhere on the coast, the Eden project, the Fal river cruise, Lappa valley steam railway and many other attractions. Despite the teething problems when we arrived we would definitely stay here again.
Thank you for your review. Following your comments we have changed the arrangement we have with our cleaners to ensure that the cottage is always prepared to the high standard that our guests expect. We're pleased that you enjoyed your stay and hope to be able to welcome you back again.
Guest from Leeds stayed for 14 nights.
As a large family (8 adults,1 baby & 1 dog) we needed a property that was spacious. The Old Dairy fitted the bill perfectly; large rooms, a good layout and enough space not to be on top of each other. Access is down a couple of narrow roads (single track in places) but you're only a couple of minutes from the main roads and only about 10mins from Truro avoiding the main roads which can be very busy. On arrival, we found some delicious home-made buns in the fridge; a lovely touch by the owners. Overall, the cottage is well equipped, although some oven gloves in the kitchen would have been appreciated. The gardens were lovely and well kept, with plenty room for a kick about with the young ones in the top garden. Another thing that we feel would be appreciated by guests though, is some additional furniture in the smaller side garden (chairs or just another picnic table). The setting is lovely and quiet and the only house in sight is the neighbouring owners. There is a cottage just over the road, but this doesn't really overlook the Old Dairy. At the time of our stay (Easter holidays) the weather was relatively warm. We, therefore, didn't need to have the heating on most of the time. We did find out though, that the solar powered heating seems to be a little temperamental i.e if you turn the thermostats down/off it can take up to 24 hours for it to get back up to temperature when turned back up. I'm all for saving the planet, but you can't just flick the heating on to 'take the chill off' when needed, although there is provision to use a wood burner in the living room. For some reason also, the heated towel rails in the upstairs bathrooms didn't work. Again, this would only really be an issue during colder weather. The owner did have an engineer check it out, and it even had him scratching his head! Getting back to the positives, having the games room was a bonus. The men folk in particular enjoyed having a drink and a game of pool on an evening! Overall, we had a lovely fortnight. We love Cornwall, and this was an ideal base for visiting all corners of the county. We would definitely recommend The Old Dairy, and would consider returning in the future if we need the same amount of space! The Carter family.
Guest from Bristol stayed for 7 nights.
Cannot fine any fault with the cottage as in the location, comfort and cleanliness, However we did have a minor problem with smelly drains in all bathrooms/en-suites also the boiler fired up at all times during the night keeping our family awake upstairs. However we did really appreciate the home made cakes and flowers on arrival.
Thank you for your review. We're glad that you had a good stay. As you stayed very soon after the cottage was renovated, unfortunately we had a few teething problems with the heating/plumbing system, but these have now been resolved.
