St Wenn is situated about 5 miles from Wadebridge and 15 miles from both Newquay and Padstow. The Atlantic Coast of Cornwall offers some of the most picturesque and breathtaking scenery in the country with golden sandy beaches at 25 locations within 20 miles from The Coach House; these include Crantock, Fistral, Perranporth, Polzeath and Watergate Bay. Most of these are patrolled by RNLI lifeguards during the summer season. The coastal footpath delivers some stunning walks and incredible views through this dramatic section of coastline. Hustyns, the luxury spa and resort centre, is only 10 minutes away by car and offers day passes to the gym and swimming pool as well as a variety of beauty and spa treatments. There is also a first class restaurant. The golf courses of St Enodoc and Trevose are within easy reach.

These days Newquay's excellent surfing waters are the town's main industry, whereas it once used to be a major export port for the county's mining efforts as well as a north coast port for pilchard fisheries. Fistral Beach holds many surfing competitions throughout the year, and also hosts Boardmasters festival. Both the Women's and Men's Gig Championships are held here, as is a balloon festival and surf and lifesaving events. Newquay Zoo now houses 130 different species in sub tropical gardens in the centre of the town.

Neighbouring Watergate Bay and The Extreme Academy offers you a 'ski resort on a beach' and a plethora of activities to keep even the most active occupied. Fifteen Cornwall, founded by Jamie Oliver in 2002, sits on top of the two mile beach at Watergate offering inspirational views for the young chefs and professionals to create fantastic menus from local and seasonal produce. The Lappa Valley Steam Railway just outside Newquay offers both the old and young an interesting day out. Newquay Airport has made the north coast one of the easiest places in Cornwall to get to, with regular flights from various locations across the UK. The town also has an Aquarium, a Waterworld and numerous immensely pretty beaches for the less active. Trerice, run by the National Trust and 3 miles outside of the town, is an Elizabethan manor house and garden with restricted winter opening times.

Wadebridge, once a market town, is now more widely known as being part of The Camel Trail, the cycle route out to Padstow from the depths of Bodmin Moor on the old tramway route, Grogley holt is the nearest point to join the camel trail and is 4 miles from the coach house. . You can hire a bike at the start of the trail and cycle to Padstow, now famous for being home to Rick Stein's The Seafood Restaurant, amongst others which the celebrity chef owns in the town. From Padstow you could take a boat trip across the Camel Estuary to Rock and lounge on the beautiful beach that stretches all the way around to Daymer Bay. The National Lobster Hatchery neighbours Rick Stein's empire in Padstow. The Saints way an ancient pilgrim route from Padstow to Fowey passes through the adjacent village of Withiel, a mile from the Coach House, giving access to a 27 mile marked trail.

The Royal Cornwall Show ground at Wadebridge hosts the county show every June, come rain or shine, and is opened each year by a member of the Royal Family. Cornish farmers have had to diversify in recent years and so has the Show, but they have kept their traditional roots with steam engines being shown next to the shiny new high-tech tractors. It's not every day you get to see formation JCB digger dancing in the main ring. The National Trust have three properties nearby - Lanhydrock House, Trerice and Carnewas & Bedruthan Steps. Slightly further afield is the Eden Project in St Austell, famously built in a disused china clay pit. The gardens aside Eden provides a host of different entertainment throughout the year for young and old and has now become popular music concert venue.

Excellent accommodation

This sympathetic barn conversion is set within a rural location ideal for relaxing and, being centrally located, it is not far to drive to either the north or south coasts of Cornwall. Incredibly clean and well equipped with a hamper of local produce, which was most unexpected and very welcome. The owners are most hospitable and visitors are encouraged to walk on their adjacent land which contain farm animals and alpacas and there is a fishing lake too; thoughtfully placed benches are a nice touch.

Lovely modern cottage

Had a lovely stay at the Coach House, beautifully decorated, modern and clean cottage. Lots of space for our family of 4 and the alpacas were delightful to watch. Owners were really friendly and gave helpful advice about areas to visit & provided an excellent hamper on arrival! Really good base to travel to different areas and beaches with big supermarkets only a short drive away. All in all a lovely holiday with great weather and wonderful accommodation.

Fantastic!!!

We has an amazing stay at the coach house. The cottage is spottlessly clean, comfortable and well equipped plus the lovely hamper and fresh eggs was very much appreciated. Sean and sally made us feel very welcome and gave us some great ideas where to go with the kids and restaurants to try in the local area. The kids loved feeding the lambs too! Overall it was a great holiday. Next time we're in Cornwall this is where we will stay and would recommend it to anyone going there too.

A lovely short break away

We stayed at The coach house for a three night stay. We were extremely happy! It was very clean, well equipped, modern, the kitchen has everything you need, including a welcome basket of Cornish goodies and fresh eggs which was a really lovely touch. The kids loved the games which were in the cupboard! The location is great, we were not far from any of the places we wanted to visit like Newquay, Holywell Bay, Trerice, Etc There are several supermarkets in Bodmin which is very convenient to the location of the cottage. The owners are very friendly and helpful and give you total privacy. Our children loved the Llamas! We shall return next year but for a week next time!

A Great stay

We arrived at the cottage quite early by mistake but was welcomed by the owner. Everything was provided from cleaning to Tea/Coffe and a fantastic hamper of local goodies. Rooms and beds were so comfortable, kitchen, showers top quality, books and games galore. Almost impossible to fault. Tip though: Its got AIR to heat heating. (What's that I wondered), well if your daft enough to put heating on in kitchen/diner it goes straight up the open staircase to the waiting THERMOSTAT. We froze 1st night until we realised what we'd done wrong. This cottage is absolutely fantastic Booking for next year already.

Amazingly relaxing retreat for everyone, young or old. Very welcoming owners. Highly recommended.

Sean and Sally are amazing hosts. They made us feel super welcome. Fantastic welcome pack full of lovely Cornish goodies. The whole place was amazingly clean and comfortable. The kitchen was super equipped, although a washing machine would have been good, especially if we were staying for longer than a week. The bedrooms were fantastic. The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The alpacas were so cute and we were able to help feed them each morning. Fresh eggs from the chickens were on hand. Beautiful location. Very quiet. Not far from shops and the A39 to take you where you wanted to go. Would highly recommend and will make a return visit.

A perfect stay in cornwall

The Coach House is so warm and clean. It has a great sense of style and a fantastic kitchen with everything one might need. We instantly felt at home! The owners, Sally and Sean live next door and are so friendly and helpful, whilst giving you plenty of privacy and space. Their dog Dexter made great friends with our Dog, Mason. Great, central location. Feels like it's in the middle of nowhere but, one is back on the duel carriageway with ten minutes. We didn't want to leave and would very happily stay here again in a heartbeat.

Excellent choice for stay in Cornwall

We regularly book UK cottages for family holidays and always look for high spec accommodation. We were not disappointed by the Coach House! It's not long been renovated and all fixtures and fittings look new. Beautiful rooms and very cosy feel. Excellent location too as it's central to just about everywhere. The owners could not do enough for us and our children loved seeing the animals (incl.Alpacas!). The only improvement I could suggest is there was no washing machine as there has been in our prev holiday cottages, which is a little imperative if you have young kids, but a part from that I wouldn't hesitate to book again when we return to Cornwall!
