The Farm is just a brilliant place to stay having the benefit of extensive grounds, including a children's play area (with a slide, climbing frame, see saw and swings), a great games room and a private hot tub.

Stables is a conversion of an original farm building and is particularly roomy. The doors from the lounge open directly into an enclosed garden with patio area, ideal for barbecues. From here you can enjoy the views across the valley towards St Newlyn East. The cottage also has the benefit of a cosy wood burning stove to keep you toasty when the days grow a little colder.

Property Location

Situated only a mile away from the village of Mitchell with its lovely 16th Century pub, called the Plume of Feathers in the main street. The pub retains many of its original features and serves locally sourced food either in the restaurant or sit outside in the leafy beer garden on a warm summers day.

These days Newquay's excellent surfing waters are the town's main industry, where as it once used to be a major export port for the counties mining efforts as well as a north coast port for pilchard fisheries. Fistral Beach holds many surfing competitions throughout the year, and also hosts Run to the Sun over May Bank holiday, a VW and Custom Car Show. Both the Womens and Mens Gig Championships are held here, as a balloon festival and surf and lifesaving events. Newquay Zoo now houses 130 different species in sub tropical gardens in the centre of the town. Two miles away is The Lappa Valley Steam Railway which, offers both the old and young an interesting day out. Newquay Airport has made the north coast one of the easiest places in Cornwall to get to, with regular flights from various locations across the UK. The town also has an Aquarium, a Waterworld and numerous immensely pretty beaches for the less active. Trerice run by the National Trust is 3 miles outside of the town is an Elizabethan Manor House and Garden with restricted winter opening times.

Just 5.5 miles north west is Holywell Bay, a little village on the North coast between Perranporth and Newquay. It has a beautiful beach with fantastic sand dunes and a little stream for paddling for those daunted by the waves. In the summer months the beach is patrolled by lifeguards and of course, surfing lessons are available for those keen on learning.

An Excellent No-Compromise Cottage

Everything about this break exceeded our expectations. The location, whilst secluded and quiet is barely more than a mile from the A30. The views from the garden side of the cottage were unspoiled, looking over hills and fields. Having our own enclosed grassed area and decking was one of the main reasons we booked as it meant our two dogs had a certain amount of freedom. The hot tub was an excellent feature and we made good use of it. The spacious interior is well maintained and pleasantly decorated and it seemed no expense had been spared in making sure that all equipment and fittings were of good quality and perhaps unusual for rented holiday cottages, everything worked and we wanted for nothing. There is so much more that one could cover to praise the place but suffice to say that we found the whole experience to be enjoyable and we will return.

A Lovely Cottage.

The Stables is a wonderful cottage, clean and well equipped. Jane and Mick the owners were extremely helpful and hospitable and the views are stunning. The location is a little bit too rural as you do need a car as walking anywhere is not very safe because of very small country lanes all around the area. However if driving does not bother you it is an excellent location.

3rd visit

This was our 3rd visit to Goonwinnow and our first visit for May, loved it as usual. So much more to do, fabulous weather so we spent a lot of time at the beaches close by. Our 4 year old was so happy to come back. Just working out when we can come back again

Beautiful location

The location is amazing! The stables were clean and homely; furnished traditionally and with a warm feeling. Mick and Jane were welcoming but not intrusive and the atmosphere at the farm was wonderful. Lots of dog friendly places in the area. We will definitely be returning.

A home from home!

We (myself, my husband and our 2 year old) spent 5 nights at this wonderful cottage, and didn't want to come home. The cottage is extremely well equipped, with the added bonus of a dishwasher and a huge super king size bed. Our son loved the ducks and the donkeys on the grounds, as well as the play equipment. Excellent location, attractions all a short drive away as well as some lovely beaches. There is a pub nearby called the Plume of Feathers - great food and great staff, in fact we ate there every evening! We will be back!

Stayed at the Stables for 1 week and definitely could have done with 2. So much to ddo within a short drive. Lovely accommodation. My 2 year old over the donkeys and parrots on site. Didn't get to use the hot tub as we ran out of time and the weather wasn't great. Next time though!
