The church of St James the Great is over 450 years old. Both of the two pubs in the village the New Inn and London Inn serve food.
Skyber Barnacott is approximately 2 miles to the north of Bude. Bude is Cornwall's most northern town and has been a favourite seaside resort since Victorian times. The coastal scenery surrounding the beaches of is quite beautiful, boasting some of the finest sandy beaches and the best surfing in England! The town has excellent facilities and a wide selection of interesting, independent shops. This idyllic area has a large amount of bird life for the dedicated twitcher and some wonderful, scenic walks along the South West coastal path.
The centre of Bude is a lively hub with concerts, dances and fetes as well as other events throughout the season, including an annual Carnival Week. Further along the coast is Sandymouth, a large beach ideal for families due to its lovely sand, rock pools and tea rooms. This was our 3rd stay at the property and we can recommend it to anyone looking for a good place to stay near Bude. Very clean and comfortable with everything you need.
We really appreciate you choosing to revisit our property and hope you will continue to do so. Your comments are always welcome

On arriving at the cottage, we were delighted with how clean and tidy it was. The pint of milk and box of biscuits that had been left for us, were a lovely touch so we were able to have a cup of tea and snack as soon as we arrived. We found everything we needed, and more, in the kitchen, which isn't always the case with holiday lets. On our first morning we had a need to contact the caretaker over a minor issue, and she was with us within 15 minutes to solve the problem. It was so nice to have great customer service. The position of the cottage near Kilkhampton made it ideal as it was only a short drive to the beaches we love, and it was close enough to Bude for a quick trip to the supermarkets or beaches. The only downside for the cottage is it's location next to the A39. Our children tried to play football in the garden, and despite being careful, the ball did end up going under the gate and onto the road, so we didn't play that again. It was also relatively noisy when we sat outside for our meals. However, we made good use of the large garden playing catch, and running around.
Thank you for your comments they are helpful to us we are in the process of looking at ways to minimise the gap under the gate

As this holiday was for 2 couples, Skyber was just brilliant 2 super king beds or 4 singles split over 2 bedrooms both with own bathrooms. If we ever come back to this part of Cornwall will definitely book again.
Great to hear you had an excellent holiday. Thank you for reviewing Skyber Barnacott. We really do hope you will make a return visit. Regards Mark and Elizabeth

A beautiful property that is well decorated and well resourced. It was good to have things like kitchen roll, salt, pepper, olive oil and a BBQ. Lovely bedding and towels provided. A very handy utility room with washing machine. All very positive. My only recommendation would be to provide recycling box/bag as we didn't have anything to put it in other than the bin. I also think it's a bit much to expect guests to take their own rubbish away when they are paying high rates in the summer. Overall a wonderful property to relax in.
Thank you for taking the time to comment on how much you enjoyed the facilities our place in Cornwall had to offer during your stay. Providing recyling bins is something we can do, but, as you can appreciate, we especially recommend guests with dogs to take their rubbish to the tip on their way into Bude, because of the nature of the waste. We are happy that you chose Skyber Barnacott and are really pleased that you had such a relaxing holiday. Regards Mark and Elizabeth

We have just returned from a wonderful week at Skyber Barnacott. The barn has been converted to a very high standard throughout, with all the necessities plus more. We used the bar-b-cue most evenings and the chiminea when the air grew cooler. The one downside to the garden was that we couldn't let our little Jack Russell out on his own since the garden gate had a large 'Woody-sized' gap at the bottom, leading onto the main road. The location of the property is ideal; close to several beaches - our favourite being Widemouth Bay - villages and places of interest. Kilkhampton has a Co-op and tasty Fish'n'chips.
Thank you for making the effort to comment on our property in Cornwall, we are happy you enjoyed your stay.

Excellent modern and decent appliances Washing machine a godsend when been down beach with family Plenty of room for kids.to run and play outside advise closing gate. If playing football to keep balls from going on road
We are grateful for your comments and pleased that you enjoyed your holiday in Cornwall

This is excellent accommodation. Plenty of space, comfortable furnishings and well equipped kitchen. Both bedrooms are comfortable and have clean and modern en suite bathrooms. Beaches and Bude are short drives from the cottage and the village of Kilkhampton is about three minutes drive away where you can get basic groceries.
We really appreciate the time you have taken to comment on the property and its location

We had a fantastic week staying at Skyber Barnacott. It is finished to an extremely high standard, very well equipped and comfortable. We spent much of the week at the closest beach, "Northcott" (approx 4 mile drive) which is relatively quiet and when the tide is out reveals a huge sandy expanse, perfect for walking the dogs right along to Bude, although you can come back along the costal path. There are several other good beaches within short driving distance, we spent a nice day at "Sandymouth" beach. Bude is about 4 miles away, and has everything you need in the town including several supermarkets. For dining out would recommend "La Bouche Creole" at the Atlantic Hotel, we had a great meal there on the Friday night.
We are very happy that you found Skyber Barnacott ' a lovely place to stay '. Thank you for your recommendation, as to where to go, when visiting our property.
Guest from Stowmarket stayed for 7 nights.
Had a lovely week at Skyber Barnacott. The cottage is very modern and well equipped. It is very light, spacious and ideal for couples and families as has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It is on the A39 so very easy access for driving further into Cornwall to visit the pretty villages and coves and only 5 minutes drive to Bude for shopping and beaches.
Thank you for taking the time to post a very succinct review of our property. We are really glad you enjoyed your stay. Elizabeth & Mark

Lovely cottage, very well equipped.lovely bed linen and towells provided. Good location as near to bude and beaches. A bit close to A39 but other than that we cant fault it and would return
Thank you for taking time to comment online. We hope a return visit to the barn will be just as enjoyable.
Guest from Llanelli stayed for 3 nights.
Had a short stay here in early December. Was surprised at how good the accommodation was as when you have dogs sometimes the standard can be a little below par!! Loved the layout to the extent that I tended to spend more time in the kitchen than I intended. Everything you could imagine is catered for and you immediately feel at home. Would recommend the cottage highly, but be aware it is not in Bude actually more kilkhampton, however this did not bother us as it is close enough and also the situation was very relaxing even though it is situated on a main road.

Skyber Barnacott had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable, with all the resources we have at home, washing machine, hairdryer, etc. the bungalow was comfortable and beautifully furnished and decorated, the children were happy that it has wifi, television and did player and a selection of board games, as well as a small outside garden area. Within a short drive of some lovely, and relatively quiet national trust beaches, and close to Bude where we could enjoy swimming in the sea pool. there is also an indoor public swimming pool in Bude. There is a small farm shop very close to the bungalow, providing fresh provisions, and a large supermarket in Bude. Perfect for a small family and also welcomes dogs, set in beautiful countryside and close to spectacular beaches.
Thank you for taking the time to review Skyber Barnacott. It's great to hear that you,the children and the dog found the barn comfortable and enjoyed the beaches nearby. We're puzzled that you found the garden small as it is about a 1/3 acre and wondered if you had made use of the grassy area with the picnic table. We look forward to you, your family or your friends visiting in the future. Mark & Elizabeth

This is one of the cleanest, best equipped and comfortable places we have ever stayed in. The kitchen is better equipped than the one we have at home! Both bathrooms have excellent showers and the bed is so comfy I didn't want to get out of it. There is nothing to fault about this place, everything so thoughtfully provided. A near disaster was averted with the discovery of a sewing kit when the dog had an accident with his beloved toy, The location was what we wanted, private and secluded but near enough to beaches and places of interest and quiet even though just off A39. The bar-b-q and chiminea unfortunately we're not used due to the weather but maybe next time....... We will recommend Skyber to friends and family for sure
Thank you for choosing Skyber Barnacott for your recent stay in Cornwall and for your wonderful comments. We do hope the weather will be kinder to you on your next visit.
Guest from Wakefield stayed for 7 nights.
Stayed first week of Easter 28/03/15. This is quality accommodation with everything we needed. Underfloor heating was fantastic and kept the place at a comfortable temperature despite the weather outside. Log burner also excellent- my wife insisted on using this but to be honest the underfloor heating was enough for us warm blooded types. All very clean and modern- loads of equipment included and all high quality including the appliances. Excellent WiFi connection. Just wish we had the weather for the BBQ. Even though adjacent to the A39- traffic noise not a problem at all as substantial hedge in the way.Location excellent for Bude, Hartland, Boscastle, Tintagel etc. Close to National Trust owned "Duckpool" cove which was interesting in the stormy weather and surprisingly free to park( not sandy though), for sand you need Sandymouth bay which was £3 to park with NT(free for members). All in all, loved it. Would definitely stay again.
We really appreciate the comments on your visit to Skyber Barnacott. We sincerely hope that you will return to the property, in the near future, and enjoy better weather next time. Thank you.
Guest from Solihull stayed for 7 nights.
Lovely clean cosy and comfortable cottage/barn, even warm on the two coldest nights of the year a log burner is also available which we used for several nights for the pleasing visual aspect only downside was emptying the ash the next morning, linked beds in main bedroom were the most comfortable we have experienced,Welcoming refreshments and the addition of a small unusual christmas tree were very nice touches.Being adjacent to the A39 was useful for travelling about, any traffic noise was minimal just a mile into Kilkhampton and 4 miles into Bude for shopping or meals Minor comments from ourselves the addition of a clock radio in the bedroom would have pleased my better half as she enjoys the snooze facility when going to sleep, but not required by me!! The only garden and gated driveway area to the front was well maintained but care would need to be taken of adventurous children or dogs near to the main road. The rear of the property can overlook the parking area of the attached property with visitors coming and going past the side window of the lounge and maybe bedroom two which was not needed by my wife and I. Good roman blinds cover these windows and did not cause us any concern except that a tilting venetian or vertical blind may improve the option of privacy or light. We have no hesitation in recommending this new property and it was easy to leave it nearly as clean as we found it.Everything that we needed was there and we intend to visit again. On a score rating 10/10.
We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your Christmas stay at Skyber Barnacott. Your detailed online comments are much appreciated. In the hope, that you will return in the not too distant future, we have newly installed a clock radio, with snooze facility, in the bedroom. Thank you.

This was our second stay at skyber barnacott in 3 months. we know the area very well as we holiday in bude regularly. Have reviewed the property previously and once again found it to be ideal for us, very clean and comfortable and good location. The only thing I would comment on as a downside is the huge amount of flies surrounding the property, which we also experienced in July, however there were even more this time making it impossible to sit outside, and we were constantly annoyed with the amount finding their way inside. Have never had this problem anywhere else so feel there is something attracting them to this particular property as well as the adjoining property!
Thank you for your review. We were delighted that you had returned to the property but disappointed you had found flies a nuisance during your most recent stay. It is unfortunate that the continued good weather this year has had that downside. In rural areas, in the autumn, sometimes they can become a pest as they gather on the outside of buildings, especially on sunny, light-coloured walls. Cluster flies are not a problem in summer and are harmless. We are looking into a method of treatment for the time of year.

The accommodation has been newly converted for holiday rental to an exceptionally high standard. It was immaculately presented, clean, comfortable and extremely well equipped with modern contemporary fittings. Entry on arrival is conveniently by means of a key safe. Milk, biscuits, tea, coffee and sugar had been thoughtfully provided. We received a courtesy visit the following day from the couple from the neighboring village who manage the property. Location on the A39 with private parking for several cars is excellent for access providing an ideal base although road noise can be an issue. A small patio at the front benefits from the morning sun. The approach to the adjoining property passes directly behind the rear windows which impedes on privacy although window blinds are fitted.
Thank you very much for taking the time to review our property. As we are a new establishment feedback from our guests is important to us and your comments help potential guests know what we have to offer

Fantastic stay had a really brilliant time, lovely tasteful accomodation and good location, highly recommend . There was nothing in the way of equipment you needed. The garden was large and quite a sun trap in the afternoon which we enjoyed sitting in watching the sun go down. The location was close enough for Padstow, Clovelly ,Port Issac which are highly recommended to visit . Would recommend to everyone, our little dog came too which was greatly appreciated .
We really appreciate that you have taken the time and made the effort to post such positive comments. We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay at Skyber Barnacott Thank you Mark and Elizabeth

Our family had a wonderful stay at Syber Barnacott, we would definitely return to this property again & will not hesitate to recommend it to friends & family. On arrival the information provided was clear, concise & succinct! As was the local attractions, land marks & beauty spots information folder. The property was welcoming, well thought out & everything we could of needed provided. Thanks to all for a lovely time, keep up the good work!
We really appreciate the time and effort taken to post your comments, on your stay at Skyber Barnacott, online. It is always gratifying to know what we have got right as well as what we need to improve on. We sincerely hope that you, your friends and family will enjoy the property in the future. Thank you.

The accommodation was excellent, very comfortable and provided everything we needed. There is plenty of outside space with parking. The only slight downside is that as it is on a main road the traffic noise can be loud at certain times of day, ie rush-hour, but we did not find this a problem, and the property is set back from the road and is only visible to higher sided vehicles.
Thank you for leaving such lovely comments and we appreciate the useful suggestions. In time, we will be developing the outside space and as the garden matures hopefully the traffic noise will be muted. Were glad that you enjoyed your stay and look forward to you returning in the future.

.....location. We booked a last minute break and wanted to be in, or at least close to, Bude, and assumed from the address that this property would be. Its actually 4 miles from Bude, just outside Kilkhampton and fronts onto the A39. The 'garden' is a large gravel drive with small seating area between the house and the nice stone wall that separates you from the road. A picnic table on a grassy area adjacent to the main house is made available but you might feel a little conspicuous sitting there. But.....inside it was really very good, everything you could need was supplied and more important it was very clean and functional. We easily stored our 16' Canoe in the living area without it being a pain, so plenty of space. The property would accommodate 4 with no problem. The WiFi was a BT system. There was a supplied password for a network that didn't allow any of our devices to connect so we had to use the alternative service which was £18 for the 5 days and logged us out every 30 minutes or so. When connected it was around 1mbs connection which made downloading work a frustrating exercise with the disconnections but I doubt a consideration for most people. The O2 reception was ok and 3G was about as fast as the WiFi. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the property as long as the dependence on the car isn't a problem. A '3' was given for service but was non applicable, you should please add that option ....
Thank you for your comments. Were sorry that the location and outside space did not meet your expectations and suit your requirements. The Wi-Fi (BT Home Hub5) had only recently been installed so unfortunately we were unaware that the Hubs name and wireless password provided would bring up BTs Smart Set up page. So thank you for pointing this out to us and apologise for the frustration it must have caused. By turning off Smart Set up and adding a few connection tips into the property information file, we hope that our guests will now be able to connect to their devices. We have connected an IPad and a laptop with Windows 7 successfully. When tested the broadband speed was 7mb. We are glad that you found the accommodation comfortable and that you would be happy to recommend our property to others.
