Sammyshute occupies a secluded plot just back from the coast path with outstanding views across Gerrans Bay. The large, south facing, sunroom has comfortable sofas and there are few better places to while away an afternoon with the yachts crossing the horizon and ships further out to sea. The large garden provides plenty of space to let children play, with a spacious lawn and plenty of mature trees and shrubs. The house is private and secluded, with only a couple of neighbouring properties in this exclusive part of the beautiful Roseland Peninsula, and a short walking distance to access the South West Coast Path.

Just 300m from Sammyshute is Curgurrell Farm Shop - voted by in 2017 by The Daily Telegraph as best farm shop in the South West - selling fresh veg from the farm as well as home-made jams and chutneys. The Roseland Peninsula is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and forms one of the finest sections of Cornwall's South Coast. From Mevagissey to St Mawes and bordered by the Fal Estuary to the west, the Roseland Peninsula has been drawing visitors for years with its splendid coastline, unique gardens, historic villages and superb sailing waters. A truly magnificent part of Cornwall, the Roseland Peninsula is a wonderful place to spend a memorable holiday. With The Lost Gardens of Heligan and The Eden Project in one direction and Falmouth and the National Maritime Museum in the other. The Roseland is brimming with places to visit and things to do.
St Mawes Castle, built by Henry VIII in the 16th century sits on Castle Point at the mouth of the River Fal. At the top of St Mawes, Lamorran Gardens house a wonderful collection of tropical plants with lovely views down into the Harbour. St Just-in-Roseland has arguably the most photographed church in Cornwall. The 13th century church sits quietly tucked away on the edge of the creek. The Veryan Roundhouses are a must see, on the way to Nare Head, where you will find the most spectacular views of Gerrans Bay. The little village of Portloe nestles in a lovely valley and is one of Cornwall's quintessential spots. The Roseland Inn at Philleigh is a 16th century pub just waiting for you to visit. The most popular thing to do though on the Roseland is simply to walk and enjoy some of Cornwall's most beautiful coastline.
Events on the Roseland reach fever point in August when sailing regattas, carnivals, fayres and fun days take place all over the Roseland and the waters of the Carrick Roads. It is a memorable place for many people who return year after year to enjoy the magic of this beautiful place.
Portscatho and its neighbouring village of Gerrans overlooking the dramatic Gerrans Bay. A truly peaceful waterside village, Portscatho is a lovely place for a holiday. There are miles of coastal and countryside footpaths to explore, particularly along past Towan beach and out to St Anthony's Head. Portscatho was once a busy fishing harbour, but now it has become a haven for artists due to the striking light which is particularly good in the morning sun. More than anything, Portscatho is a relaxing place. The beaches such as Porthcurnick and Towan are simply idyllic and these are only minutes from the village. With a superb local butchers shop, 2 great little pubs and a well-stocked local store, Portscatho and Gerrans are a lovely place to spend a holiday.

The house is quietly situated with wonderful views over Gerrans Bay. For our multi-generational extended family of 9 it suited us very well. There's plenty of space downstairs with the separate lounge and sun lounge areas and a big garden outside for the energetic to run around in. The refitted modern kitchen and dining area, the clean and very well appointed bathrooms with plentiful hot water are all good reasons for us to book this house again, and we hope to be back soon.

Didn't have a car but still managed to have a great holiday. Reliable bus and manageable walk to Portscatho via Hidden Hut. Avoid main road - very dangerous. Need a torch if going to pub at night. There is a beach immediately below the house/farm shop. Had a lovely relaxing holiday and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. Would highly recommend and hopefully will go again in the future.
