Sammyshute is along the lane from Curgurell Farm, and visitors can enjoy walking to the farm shop to buy lobsters, fresh fish and crabs from the bay, along with fruit, vegetables and local wines and produce. Further along the lane, which is punctuated by views of the sea, are the Michelin-starred Driftwood Hotel and the family-friendly Rosevine Hotel, with an indoor pool open to non-residents having lunch there. The lane ends on Porthcurnick Beach, owned by the National Trust. There you will find the famous Hidden Hut, run by Simon and Vicky Stallard. Book for Feast Nights well in advance via their Facebook page, or just enjoy lunch at the café, or a legendary hot chocolate or Rocky Road.

The Roseland Peninsula is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and forms one of the finest sections of Cornwall's South Coast. From Mevagissey to St Mawes and bordered by the Fal Estuary to the west, the Roseland Peninsula has been drawing visitors for years with its splendid coastline, unique gardens, historic villages and superb sailing waters. A truly magnificent part of Cornwall, the Roseland Peninsula is a wonderful place to spend a memorable holiday. With The Lost Gardens of Heligan and The Eden Project in one direction and Falmouth and the National Maritime Museum in the other. The Roseland is brimming with places to visit and things to do.

St Mawes Castle, built by Henry VIII in the 16th century sits on Castle Point at the mouth of the River Fal. At the top of St Mawes, Lamorran Gardens house a wonderful collection of tropical plants with lovely views down into the Harbour. St Just-in-Roseland has arguably the most photographed church in Cornwall. The 13th century church sits quietly tucked away on the edge of the creek. The Veryan Roundhouses are a must see, on the way to Nare Head, where you will find the most spectacular views of Gerrans Bay. The little village of Portloe nestles in a lovely valley and is one of Cornwall's quintessential spots. The Roseland Inn at Philleigh is a 16th century pub just waiting for you to visit. The most popular thing to do though on the Roseland is simply to walk and enjoy some of Cornwall's most beautiful coastline.

Events on the Roseland reach fever point in August when sailing regattas, carnivals, fayres and fun days take place all over the Roseland and the waters of the Carrick Roads. It is a memorable place for many people who return year after year to enjoy the magic of this beautiful place.

Portscatho and its neighbouring village of Gerrans overlooking the dramatic Gerrans Bay. A truly peaceful waterside village, Portscatho is a lovely place for a holiday. There are miles of coastal and countryside footpaths to explore, particularly along past Towan beach and out to St Anthony's Head. Portscatho was once a busy fishing harbour, but now it has become a haven for artists due to the striking light which is particularly good in the morning sun. More than anything, Portscatho is a relaxing place. The beaches such as Porthcurnick and Towan are simply idyllic and these are only minutes from the village. With a superb local butchers shop, 2 great little pubs and a well-stocked local store, Portscatho and Gerrans are a lovely place to spend a holiday.

Wonderful location

We were very impressed with the amount of space afforded both inside and outside. The views are stunning, and we spent many hours sitting in the garden or the sun room. It's well located for dining on all levels, and the farm shop is very good which is a short walk.

Sammyshute

We enjoyed our stay very much. Sammyshute is a very comfortable modern house with space for all. We only had one or two minor requests - it would be very useful to have a baking tray or two in the kitchen, and there was no bath mat in the upstairs bathroom. I think that, given the cost of the rent, there should be the basics left in the kitchen, We have had these in other houses we have rented - such as washing up liquid, a few dishwasher tablets, a new dishcloth etc. It was very good to find drying up cloths to use. It just helps to feel welcomed and means one doesnA?t have to bring the kitchen sink with one.

From the Owner:
Thanks so much for these helpful comments; we'll act on them right away. It's important to us that our guests have everything they need for a wonderful holiday.

A spacious and well-appointed property in this lovely location

The house is quietly situated with wonderful views over Gerrans Bay. For our multi-generational extended family of 9 it suited us very well. There's plenty of space downstairs with the separate lounge and sun lounge areas and a big garden outside for the energetic to run around in. The refitted modern kitchen and dining area, the clean and very well appointed bathrooms with plentiful hot water are all good reasons for us to book this house again, and we hope to be back soon.

Without a car.

Didn't have a car but still managed to have a great holiday. Reliable bus and manageable walk to Portscatho via Hidden Hut. Avoid main road - very dangerous. Need a torch if going to pub at night. There is a beach immediately below the house/farm shop. Had a lovely relaxing holiday and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. Would highly recommend and hopefully will go again in the future.
