Property Location

The little village of St Just in Roseland is located about 2 miles north of St Mawes. it is a quiet, sleepy village, with a pretty little creek and an amazing church and wonderful churchyard. No visit to the Roseland is complete without seeing this peaceful place. Probably the only sub tropical churchyard in the British Isles, it is a beautiful & tranquil place with some unique flora. A tea room has recently been completed by the Church car park and they offer a wonderful array of cream teas cakes and treats.

St Mawes is one of the finest waterside villages in Cornwall. Situated overlooking an idyllic bay on the eastern side of the famous Falmouth Estuary, St Mawes has one of the mildest climates in Britain due to its proximity to the Gulf Stream. The sea is at the heart of the village and has helped to shape St Mawes from the little fishing village to the fashionable holiday destination that is so popular with visitors. A mecca for boating enthusiasts, St Mawes is a particularly popular sailing centre. Weekly club racing, village regattas and larger events are commonplace on the superb waters of the bay all through the summer. St Mawes has so much to offer the visitor. St Mawes Castle was built by Henry VIII and is a splendid place to take in the views of the Carrick Roads. There are miles of coastal and countryside walks to take in and some idyllic beaches on which to relax and watch the world go by. The little Place Ferry takes visitors to explore St Anthony's Head or there are regular ferries to Falmouth. Being situated on the seafront, the village is also known for the restaurants and pubs that serve superb fish and shellfish dishes all year round. There is a selection of pubs & hotels with restaurants (including the renowned Tresanton Hotel) all within easy walking distance. There is a range of shops all within a few minutes’ walk including a well-stocked Cooperative store, Post Office, chemist, butchers, art, book ice cream, fudge and clothes shops. The village also has a doctor’s surgery and a dentist’s surgery.

Portscatho and its neighbouring village of Gerrans are located on the eastern coast of the Roseland Peninsula, Cornwall, overlooking the dramatic Gerrans Bay. A truly peaceful waterside village. There are miles of coastal and countryside footpaths to explore, particularly along St Anthony's Head. Portscatho was once a busy fishing harbour, but now it has become a haven for artists due to the striking light which is particularly good in the morning sun. More than anything, Portscatho is a relaxing place. The beaches such as Porthcurnick, Towan and Porthbeor are simply idyllic and these are only minutes from the village. With a superb local butchers shop, 2 great little pubs and a well stocked local store, Portscatho and Gerrans are a lovely place to spend a holiday.

There are some stunning locations to eat on the Roseland including the Michelin starred Driftwood restaurant on the way down to Rosevine beach where the chef, Chris Eden, and his team deliver a truly special experience, you will obviously need to book this one early. There is also the Hidden Hut located above the field at Rosevine with its eclectic menus, convivial atmosphere, bring your own booze and social media driven events list! (Best find them on Facebook to see what is on!) The Hidden Hut has received rave reviews from the local and national press and the management team have just opened Tatams wood fired Taverna in the village. Slightly further afield are the Nare Hotel and Quarterdeck with fine dining and dramatic views across Gerrans Bay, the world renowned Tresanton Hotel in St Mawes or the newly refurbished Idle Rocks Hotel. On top of this list there are some excellent country pubs in all of the local villages supporting Cornish produce and local beers.

We were at the cottage for a week in October.

We loved the cottage, which had a magnificent distant view of the estuary. The garden is miniscule but pretty, and everything was well cared for. The Lane was a dead end and so was quiet, though the attached neighbours might not be. We had the extravagent and huge treat of A?the chef on the RoselandA? to cook and bring dinner for us

Bright and airy, spotlessly clean and comfortable.

The location was good with views to the creek, and situated in a quiet road. It was a treat to open the bi-fold doors and enjoy sunny days. All the accommodation was clean and spacious and made for a comfortable relaxing week. Thanks to the owners we had a lot of valuable information about the house and area prior to our visit.

fantastic holiday cottage and holiday!

Beautiful location, couldn't have asked for more. Cornwall Cottages were great to deal with; easy booking proceedure, super helpful and very quick to respond to any queries. Booking this before a pandemic hit made it all a bit daunting in a 'will we/ won't we be able to go' way but all ran very smoothly and the house was fantastic. Really well presented and a perfect location....what a view! The owners too were fabulous when we had some specific house queries and can't thank them enough for renting us their cottage. We will definitely be back.
