You will fall in love with the private estate
Reviewed on 23/07/2020Wow, what a location, the owners could have presented a poor cottage and it wouldn't deter me staying there again. The cottage was fantastic with excellent furnishing, it comes wit a lot of character expected of an old farmhouse! We visited just after CV-19 was out of lock down and processes were in place and adequate to make us feel safe. The estate was fantastic and well kept with an abundance of flowers and well cut grass, beautiful evening walks with a river and a lake. There are putting greens, swings hanging from large trees, a bird hide and a family fire pit with logs included to cook some marshmallows. My daughter took advantage of the fitness trail and she was more than happy! Location is central for either coast and commuting to Lands End was a breeze. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners, you can tell they really love what they are doing.

Site working team accomodation
Reviewed on 19/12/2016We had a team of 6 lads working in the area for a week and found Rivermead cottage to be an ideal location and size to accommodate them. Unfortunately they were not able to pick up wifi in the cottage they were staying in but otherwise all was good.

Relaxing family stay - with a few pleasant surprises
Reviewed on 02/08/2016We stayed for a week at Rivermead cottage which was spacious and well equipped. The property is beautifully situated for touring Cornwall and was not too far from destinations on both coasts. The hosts were friendly and helpful and wed were treated to a lovely welcome pack containing a few essentials - eggs, butter, milk etc and ingredients for an arrival cream tea. We knew the grounds were extensive and offered fishing walks. But the garden games were a welcome treat for our teenage lads and the fire pit was well used by us for bbqs and toasting marshmallows. Lovely cottage

Stunning location. Well-furnished, cosy cottage.
Reviewed on 25/07/2016The cottage was well-furnished, perfectly clean and tidy and comfortable for the 4 of us. The setting is stunning with river walks and gardens being a real treat, with sightings of otter, heron, kingfishers being highlights. Fishing in July was very much on the light side in the river. In terms of value, for the price I would expect a bit more privacy to the cottage setting within the grounds. In terms of being fitted out, the cottage had everything you could want, and in some ways too much - we could have done with more cupboard space for food and I think a larger fridge would suit bookings larger than our family of 4. All in all, a fabulous week in Cornwall and the location makes wonderful access to both north and south Cornwall if desired.

Great holiday and property, only downside was that building works going on when we were not advised,
Reviewed on 04/07/2016The cottage itself is wonderful and the welcome pack on arrival much appreciated, we spoke mainly to Kevin and only saw Marjorie the once. The complex (for want of a better word) didn't appear to be quite ready, things like the gas bbq being on a building plot (there was 2 new huge cabins being installed, one no more than 15 metres from our cottage) and not working although I did try and help Kevin with it. Going back to the building work, had we been informed of it going on (it was major on the Monday and Tuesday with our car being blocked on the way in Monday and blocked on the way out Tuesday for hours) we would have chosen a different date even if we had been offered a reduction which we weren't. The works continued for the rest of our stay and instead of waking up to birds singing it was to a Kubota digger driving past our cottage which tore up the path to the river, this Kubota digger also being the view outside our cottage for a few days. I did fish the river and am an experienced angler with no joy but maybe the river was low so I'm not sure why I didn't spot one fish but did have 2 or 3 bites. The little golf course is fun, putting is impossible though as the grass was so long on the green, I think it had been too wet to cut maybe. The grounds itself are exclusive and you don't meet many people while there although with 2 new additional cabins being installed this will be busier for sure. Overall a good holiday that was impaired by the building work made worse by not being informed of until we arrived on the Saturday. On another note if 8 are staying at the Cottage then you will have to bring in chairs from the kitchen to the living room as there are only 6 seats, the wife also said it needs a bigger fridge.
Kevin & Marjorie Creek replied:
We take the enjoyment and satisfaction of our guests very seriously and are extremely disappointed that we have not met your expectations. We have taken onboard your comments but are surprised that you did not speak to us during your stay about the issues mentioned in your review. Hoping you had a safe journey home and enjoy the fishing season.

A perfect mid-week break for the whole family
Reviewed on 25/05/2015We stayed in the Rivermead cottages in May 2015 for a mid-week wedding 4 miles away. It was a beautiful cottage, that suited all our party (Grandparents, my wife and I and our two young children). The cottage was spotlessly clean and tidy. The showers were also very powerful and hot! On arrival, there was a beautiful hamper with provisions to get us started (including milk, bread, home-made scones, jam, apple juice and wine!) - it was a lovely surprise. A nice touch to have a welcome message also written on the blackboard. The setting is beautiful - the river nearby has crystal clear waters and is a nice, safe, walk for us and our 6 year old and 2 year old. There are ample games stored in the outside cupboard which kept our children entertained away from their home comforts. Although there is freeview on hand when they inevitably want to watch Cbeebies! Our hosts were very welcoming, but not intrusive. They were on hand if anything went wrong. Overall, I would highly recommend a stay here - and we shall have no hesitation in re-booking for another visit,

Rivermead Cottage
Reviewed on 28/08/2014Rivermead Cottage was perfect for our stay. The house itself is really nice with a very traditional feel but very well equipped and appointed. Having a bedroom and second bathroom on the ground floor worked out really well for my Mum who is less able to get upstairs nowadays. The chip and putt, boules, croquet, circuit training, and the river and lake in the extensive grounds were a real bonus for us all. We had the run of the place pretty much to ourselves even in mid-August. Everything was spotlessly clean, and the very generous welcome hamper was much appreciated. Thanks too for the special flowers for my Mum's birthday.

Relaxing break.
Reviewed on 22/10/2013Our stay at Rivermead was outstanding. The location of the cottage was down a quiet lane, a short distance from a main road, but was quiet & secluded.. The grounds had a lake & a stream both good for fishing & the woods & greens were in immaculate condition. The cottage was warm & cozy & very comfortable. The "Welcome Hamper" was jam-packed full of "goodies" ( & im not talking Bill Oddie ), the like of which anybody in my party had never had before. Would stay there again when down that way again, plus very good location for lots of short journeys to places of interest.

excellence in cornwall
Reviewed on 18/09/2013Rivermead Cottage is in the most beautiful location and set in the most magnificent grounds. The owners were charming, kind and helpful. The cottage itself was exquisite, comfortable, charming and spotlessly clean. We don't have enough superlatives to express our feelings about this amazing place. The property itself is hidden from the main road, accessible through a gorgeous winding country road at the end of which one comes to a clearing and one sees the breathtaking setting. I would recommend Rivermead Cottage to anyone looking for a special holiday, with ultimate facilities for a quiet or busy time, whether never leaving the grounds or doing daily outings all over Cornwall.
