Property Location

Penpol and the surrounding area enjoys access to not only boating and sailing waters, but also excellent countryside walking and riding along bridle paths, as well as the Bissoe Trail, an 11 mile cycle path starting from Devoran and finishing on the north coast at Portreath. Nearby Devoran has the Old Quay Inn, a popular local pub. There are also three 18 hole golf courses within easy reach and a good choice of sailing clubs nearby at Mylor, Flushing and Restronguet.

Truro is Cornwall's only city, it's cobbled high street has a good spread of shops and restaurants as well as being home to the Hall for Cornwall and the Royal Cornwall Museum. Truro Cathedral dominates the skyline of the only city in Cornwall. Set on the original site of St Mary's Church, the current building's foundations were laid in 1880 and, today, it towers over a cobbled high street of modern shops and restaurants. Although Bodmin still holds the official title of Cornwalls County Town, most view Truro as the focal point of Cornwall. Lemon Quay plays host to many events throughout the year, including the Cornwall Food & Drink Festival in the Autumn and the famous Truro Fatstock Show just before Christmas. Regular farmer's markets occur every Wednesdays & Saturday with arts & craft markets also held on Saturdays. The Royal Cornwall Museum, tucked away on River Street, hosts many visiting exhibitions as well as having amassed a sizeable collection of its own. There is a wonderful range of shopping for the visitor including all the regular high street stores including Waitrose, Marks & Spencer, Tescos & Sainsburys, but also a wide range of more specialist stores. It's also worth a wander through the back streets and alleys to find some fabulous little boutiques. Located in central Cornwall, Truro is a great base for exploring the rest of the county: it's only 20 minutes from the North Coast, 30 minutes to Newquay Airport, 20 minutes from Falmouth (home to the National Maritime Museum) and 30 minutes from the beautiful Roseland Peninsula.

Falmouth has a buzzing town centre filled with shops, restaurants and waterside attractions. Falmouth is a famous British sailing hotspot and hosts a popular Regatta Week every year in August. Falmouth, the sailing capital of Cornwall, is renowned for being the third deepest natural port in the world. It's a haven for both cruisers and racers offering the sailor the last major port before the 12 hour crossing to the Isles of Scilly. Visitors to the Port will find the town teeming with coastal treasures, ranging from fish restaurants and boat trips to The National Maritime Museum, next to Port Pendennis. Pendennis Castle, built in the 16th Century, sits high above the harbour with truly magical panoramic views across the bay. You can ride one of the Fal River Link Ferries to the beautiful St Mawes and visit Henry VIII's sister castle or take a delightful trip around the estuary stopping off at either Trelissick Gardens or Smugglers Cottage for a cream tea. Falmouth Regatta Week, in August is the town's major event both on and off the water, fireworks and the recent addition of the Red Arrows provides a spectacular back drop for some high class racing. Later in the year the Oyster Festival shows off the river's heritage to the full. There are plenty of places to eat and drink in Falmouth and recently Rick Stein brought his Fish Restaurant to Discovery Quay, adding to the superb mix across the town.
