Polmaro is a modern self contained apartment located overlooking the Percuil River at Freshwater Boatyard in St Mawes. There is a small balcony where you can sit out and enjoy the views over the river or watch the boats coming & going at the boatyard quay.
Polmaro is perfect for a couple seeking a great value base in St Mawes with river views.
Polmaro can also used in conjunction with Pelyn, our other property at this location, to provide great value accommodation for up to 4 people wanting to stay in St Mawes.
There are lovely walks along the Percuil River and it is about a 10 minute walk along the river to St Mawes Harbour with all its pubs & restaurants. It is a fantastic base for exploring the area particularly for walkers as the ferries in St Mawes will take you to either Falmouth or across the river to Place Manor. If you have your own boat, moorings are available for hire from the boatyard. Small motor boats and a sailing boat can be hired from St Mawes Boat Hire on St Mawes Quay in the village itself.
First Floor Only: There is an external staircase that leads to the front door. The double bedroom has views over the Percuil River (although please note from October to May this view may be obscured by boats being stored on the quay). The WC & Shower room is to one side of the hallway. The main kitchen/lounge area is spacious for a one bedroom property with breakfast table, electric hob & cooker, microwave, fridge freezer and a washer dryer machine. There are two sofas in the lounge area. The views across the river are superb with a fully glazed door onto the small balcony.
Exterior: There is a small outside table and chairs on the balcony.
Facilities & Services
Inclusive electricity & heating (night storage and electric heaters). Duvets, linen & towels are provided. Moorings, boat storage and boat hire can be arranged.
Parking for 1 vehicle. Regrettably no pets are allowed in Polmaro and smoking is not permitted. There are local shops, pubs & restaurants approximately 10 minute walk away around St Mawes Harbour. Other pubs are available in Portscatho (about 10 mins drive), Philleigh (about 10 mins), Ruan Lanihorne (20 mins) or Veryan (15 mins) It is important to note that the property is located on a working boatyard and there might be the odd bit of noise from work being undertaken on boats. There is a reasonable amount of activity in front of the property. From October to May, boats are stored on the hardstanding and right in front of the property which may affect both the light and the views across the river.

St Mawes is one of the finest waterside villages in Cornwall. Situated overlooking an idyllic bay on the eastern side of the famous Falmouth Estuary, St Mawes has one of the mildest climates in Britain due to its proximity to the Gulf Stream. The sea is at the heart of the village and has helped to shape St Mawes from the little fishing village to the fashionable holiday destination that is so popular with visitors. A mecca for boating enthusiasts, St Mawes is a particularly popular sailing centre. Weekly club racing, village regattas and larger events are commonplace on the superb waters of the bay all through the summer.
St Mawes has so much to offer the visitor. St Mawes Castle was built by Henry VIII and is a splendid place to take in the views of the Carrick Roads. There are miles of coastal and countryside walks to take in and some idyllic beaches on which to relax and watch the world go by. The little Place Ferry takes visitors to explore St Anthony's Head or there are regular ferries to Falmouth. Being situated on the seafront, the village is also known for the restaurants and pubs that serve superb fish and shellfish dishes all year round.

The property was very comfortable, well equipped and in an interesting location. The walks along the coastal path and inland were amazing with fantastic scenery, sightings of kestrels, buntings, whimbrels, oyster catchers and seals. The historical sites such as the castles at St. Mawes and Pendennis, plus the churches were fascinating plus the more recent sites connected with WWII.. If in need of retail therapy Truro was worth a visit with more historical places to visit. An area of Cornwall which is well worth a visit which suits a variety of interests.

Great accommodation, just right for 2 people. View is brilliant, even the activity in the boat yard is interesting. St Mawes is very nice, we di have beautiful weather which helps. Care needs to be taken with the cooker because it has lost nearly all its markings for the control knobs. We were told they were getting it fixed. A very nice stay in beautiful part of Cornwall
Thank you so much for such a positive review. It was a pleasure meeting you and hope that you will visit again. I can confirm we have remedied the problem with the cooker control knobs and appreciate you bringing it to our attention. We appreciate negative and positive reviews as this helps us to take steps where necessary.

Seeking a week's peace and quiet and a top up of good, sea air ahead of the winter these 2 properties, at the Fairwater Boatyard, tick all the boxes. This was a return visit to this location, for my wife and I and, weather apart (over which you have no control!) it did no disappoint. The ever changing conditions around the Percuil River continue to fascinate. Comments in the Visitors Book all strike a similar note.

We have stayed at Freshwater Boatyard three times this year and have enjoyed each stay. The flats are comfortable and as we have a boat moored in view of the windows they are ideally situated for us. We would stay again.

This is a great place in a great location either as a base from which to explore the Roseland or just to take a relaxing break

The flat was comfortable, clean and well equipped. Also, nice and bright due to many windows. Although tucked away round the bay from St. Mawes harbour it was only 15mins walk from restaurants and public houses/hotels. The view from Polmaro on the first floor was amazing, especially at sunset and sunrise. Overlooking the small boatyard was a bonus for my partner who loves boats, especially the wooden ones which had been hand built by a chap on site years ago. We would recommend Polmaro to anyone who likes to have a bit of peace and quiet but in a short walk joins the hub of the village.

Our second visit -lower flT last time.Worth the extra cost to be above the parked boats, though they add to the interest.View is wonderful and while it is a working yard, the location really is peaceful, relaxing and comfortable. We wanted a restful time with plenty of walking opportunities, easy access to St Mawes sea front and local shops for essentials. The property was very good in all aspects as we expected having used the company previously. Polmara will stay on our list for future holidays.

A comfortable week spent in a beautiful location. We look forward to returning later in the year, when we hope the weather will be better!

Delightful, interesting surroundings with the boat yard - with its activities - and further estuary views.

Overall it is a very nice apartment , though I would advice a safety rail in the shower for Oldies and small children .I must say though that this is a lovely apartment in a lovely location.

This was our second stay in Polmaro,St Mawes and we loved it even more. We never tire of exploring the Roseland area and Polmaro is excellently situated for local walks or trips by ferry to Falmouth and Truro so it is very relaxing and a treat to leave the car behind! The beaches (there are many nearby) are sandy and beautifully clean .There is every thing you need in the apartment and it is a wonderful sight to watch the sun rise and set over the creek in the river.
Thank you for your review. So pleased you enjoyed your stay and we hope to see you again in the future.

I discovered Polmaro on the internet. I was immediately impressed in our arrival as the view is simply superb. Don't be put off by the fact that it is within a working yard as tgat merely added to the enjoyment if the ever changing view. The accommodation is a very good standard, clean and with just about everything you would expect and the owners have obviously taken care to provide everything you need. There is limited wifi cover although I expect that is mire due to location and certainly it didn't spoil my week ! The owners are available and approachable but not in the slightest bit intrusive. It a reasonably flat 10 min walk into St Mawes and definitely the best way to see this stunning
