Widemouth Bay is a varied and interesting beach with a long open bay. At the northerly end of Widemouth there is a large sandy area that becomes more exposed as the tide drops and to either side of this the sand gives way to some fantastic rock formations. The beach is ideal for families, whether you wish to swim, sunbathe, surf or hunt for marine life in the hundreds of rock pools. Lifeguards are present during the season. These are some of the best beaches in Cornwall so don't miss the chance to try your surfing or 'boogie' boarding skils. There are a number of surf schools in the area.
For Walkers and Cyclists the area is full of superb routes and Bude lies at the centre of the most dramatic stretch of the South West coastal footpath. The arduous climb up the lane from Millook Haven is infamous amongst cyclists! There are numerous local villages and landmarks to explore and much of the area ia a nature lovers paradise.
Bude is only a couple of minutes down the road and has the full range of facilities that one would expect of a small town including a wide range of shops, pubs & restaurant.

Overall we enjoyed our time here and would book again. Just a couple of points to note. Firstly, whilst the accommodation is very well maintained & clean, it is in need of some modernisation in the decor & furniture. I found the double bed sooo uncomfortable! There are two nice showers, one en-suite and the other connected to the bath but not really usable by adults as the water pressure is so poor it barely kicks out much water! I also realised that one toilet shared between 6 is not ideal! That said, i would recommend this property for those looking for a more economical holiday in a beautiful location.

The accomadation is te top floor of the farm house. Very spacious and clean, a little dated, but it didnt affect the holiday. Shower in the main bathroom was a dribble shower, but the shower in the main bathroom was better. Cooking facilities were good and stocked enough with all the necessary utensils. Wifi signal isnt brilliant, but it meant the children had to go outside and play. Shop is open on demand and stocked enough to keep the children happy. Accomodation was warm and plenty of towels to use. We would use again, if there wasnt anywhere closer to the beach as we had to go in the car whenever we needed to go anywhere. Recommend it. Brilliant that we could take the dog with us and they had a stair gate to stop him running up and down the stairs. Freindly people to help if we needed anything. Enough space for the children, mother in law and myself and husband, we didnt feel like we were on top of each other and the noise levels were managed with the different rooms.

This is a really great place to stay - value for money and superb situation. We wanted somewhere large enough for 4 adults, two children and a dog, and this huge flat certainly fit the bill! The double bedroom has it's own shower. The other two rooms have sinks, plus there is a family bathroom also with shower. The kitchen is extremely well equipped - even a dishwasher. The views from all the bedrooms are of the most beautiful fileds and down to the sea! Up a very steep hill, so walking to the beach is only for the very intrepid, but Black Rock Beach is about a mile away, with sandy beaches, rock pools and fabulous sea!! The (working) farm is also a campsite, but not really busy and not too noisy. The owner (Den) is so friendly and helpful. He knew all the places to go and things to do and was always there for a chat! Brilliant flat and very great value - would definitely stay there again!

A good, reasonably priced, place to stay with lovely views. The accommodation was basic but comfortable, the kitchen had everything that we required. The house is somewhat dated, but this provided entertainment, especially the dinner wagon and we reminisced about the 1970s due to the décor and appliances! It was great to have a dishwasher when 7 people were staying there and a washing machine was great when staying for two weeks. We loved looking out at the beach and having somewhere to hang wetsuits outside of the house was useful. The small garden was also nice. We have to mention on behalf of the 3 children staying there that the Wi-Fi connection was very poor, meaning they couldn't access anything!

We stayed a week at Penhalt Farm and really enjoyed it. The views of Widemouth Bay from the appartment are fantastic from every room. You don't have to check the tide times to know when it's low or high tide! The appartment was very comfortable with everything we needed. Washer dryer was very handy. It was very clean, with plenty of towels and drying/washing up cloths. Its a bit too far to walk to the beach with small children but it's only a few minutes drive to a number of great beaches for surfing or just pottering and building sand castles. There were lots of campers there when we visited in August but its a small, quiet site and the tents are to the sides of the field and not in the way of the views. The field at the front is great for kite flying! Bude is a lovely, busy little town with good shops, a sea pool and cafes and Tintagel is only a short drive away.
Guest from Bishops Stortford stayed for 7 nights.
This is a lovely place very comfortable, and although dated it had a wonderful homley feeling about it. There is a tiny shop there that sells bread and milk which was handy. Stunning views, walking anywhere is a bit of a mission as it is very hilly ....great on the way to the beach a killer on the way back (we ended up driving out) The barbeque wasn't usable. Bude is only a 7min drive and is a lovely little place to visit, nice places to eat.

The owner gave us a very warm welcome .The apartment was very spacious and comfortable with everything we needed. The views are beautiful looking over Widemouth Bay and it is a lovely setting. we would like to return as the coastal walks round this area are spectacular and we enjoyed visiting Bude, Tintagel, Port Isaac and we also visited St Michaels Mount.

We spent two weeks at the Penhalt Farm and were very happy to be there. The landscape and ocean view are amazing. The location is quite "on your own" on a hilltop, yet it's just a short trip to the beach (4 min drive, don't miss the Bay View Inn!) and to Bude (10 min). The cottage is not exactly "freshly renovated" but in a good shape. We liked it an didn't experience any problems - except a breakdown of the electricity (after a lightning, no one's fault!) which Dennis fixed immediately. Thanks for everything, we hope to come back one day! Anke & Henrik, Germany

very spacious , our only concern was that the kitchen and some of the utensils etc, were not as clean as we would have expected, for example the top of the fridge freezer was very dirty also one of the freezer drawers, was also dirty.
Guest from Lutterworth stayed for 7 nights.
Great location, wonderful view. Couldn't fault the accomodation. Great value for money. The beach is within walking distance, but you wouldn't really want to do it with a days beach paraphernalia (body boards, towels, lunch etc)
Guest from Coventry stayed for 7 nights.
We really enjoyed our stay and there was plenty of room for four adults inside as well as a little garden of our own outside. It was clean with a homely feel, kitchen very well stocked with everything we needed, towels and washing machine which was great. Very friendly place and quiet even with the campsite. The views from every room were stunning and we were well placed for the beach and a whole host of pubs and places to eat. Perfect spot to stay and a great place to visit the rest of Cornwall. Loved it.
