Widemouth Bay is a varied and interesting beach with a long open bay. At the northerly end of Widemouth there is a large sandy area that becomes more exposed as the tide drops and to either side of this the sand gives way to some fantastic rock formations. The beach is ideal for families, whether you wish to swim, sunbathe, surf or hunt for marine life in the hundreds of rock pools. Lifeguards are present during the season. These are some of the best beaches in Cornwall so don't miss the chance to try your surfing or 'boogie' boarding skils. There are a number of surf schools in the area.
For Walkers and Cyclists the area is full of superb routes and Bude lies at the centre of the most dramatic stretch of the South West coastal footpath. There are numerous local villages and landmarks to explore and much of the area ia a nature lovers paradise. Bude is only a couple of minutes down the road and has the full range of facilities that one would expect of a small town including a wide range of shops, pubs & restaurant.
Just up the coast is Bude which is possibly more diverse than any other holiday destination in Cornwall. Most major villages, towns and attractions are within an hour's drive; and because Bude sits on the county border, visitors are free to explore the delights of both Devon and Cornwall at their leisure. Look past the eight main beaches and many smaller hidden coves and you soon see there really is something for everyone.
In the centre of Bude there is a huge, sandy beach which is a favourite with children and adults alike, there is an outdoor sea pool, pretty canal, golf course, splash pool and tennis courts. Bude is Cornwall's most northern town and has been a favourite seaside resort since Victorian times. The coastal scenery surrounding the beaches is quite beautiful, boasting some of the finest sandy beaches and the best surfing in England! The town has excellent facilities and a wide selection of interesting, independent shops. This idyllic area has a large amount of bird life for the dedicated twitcher and some wonderful, scenic walks along the South West coastal path.
The centre of Bude is a lively hub with concerts, dances and fetes as well as other events throughout the season, including an annual Carnival Week. The town has a host of pubs, cafes and restaurants to suit every palate and there is a new Visitors Centre in the Crescent car park, a large children's play area, a 19th century canal and a small wharf amongst many other attractions. Bude is also home to the internationally acclaimed jazz festival which takes place each August.
Further along the coast is Sandymouth, a large beach ideal for families due to its lovely sand, rock pools and tea rooms. A short drive north over the border into Devon leads to the quaint village of Hartland with its very own shipwreck! Also well worth a visit is the world famous fishing village of Clovelly. The cobbled, traffic-free, high street is built into a cleft in a 400' high cliff and tumbles its way down past whitewashed cottages festooned with flowers to the tiny working port.
Further West down the A39 will lead you to Boscastle, Crackington Haven, Tintagel and on down to Rock, Padstow and Wadebridge all with their own fascinating histories, endless beaches, magnificent promontories, secluded coves and pubs and restaurants full of character and fine local cuisine - this part of Cornwall will rapidly become one of your favourite holiday destinations.

Loved the location of this bungalow. Perfect for our needs and very dog friendly. Lovely touches like scones and cream for our arrival and hairdryers in the bedrooms. Although we werent surfing its well set up for surfers too with rails outside for wetsuits and an outside shower. A very quiet cul de sac and five minutes walk to the beach.

We found this property very clean, tidy and inclusive of all things required to make for an enjoyable stay. Location was very good and close to nice walks on the beach which was quiet and clean. Property owners were attentive to any needs without being in the way of a quiet and very enjoyable stay.
Thank you for taking time to leave a nice review and for appreciating the clean Blue Flag beach which has been awarded again along with The Seaside Award, following the excellent work of many local residents and services to keep our great beaches clean and tidy :)

An exceptionally relaxing, quiet week in an exceptional rental. Everything you need is there for you to unwind. Clean and comfortable with an ample book supply and games should you have younger (or not so young) travellers. Beautiful Widemouth is an easy short walk away. After coming to the area for the last 15 years it was great to be able to walk to the beach. Thank you.

Very comfortable accommodation , fully equipped kitchen, comfortable bed, clean and tidy throughout. Lovely sun trap in the patio area. Plenty of room for surfboards, wet suits etc. Lovely hosts Laura and Duncan on hand if needed. Lots of information on the local area, tide times and surf forecasts provided. Love this area of North Cornwall - would definitely book Palm Villa again.

We had a great stay at Palm Villa. The cottage was everything we wanted and more, the pictures don't do it justice. The owners are on hand, helpful and friendly should you need them but at the same time leave you to enjoy your stay. We definitely hope to be returning in the near future.
Thank you so much for taking time to leave a review. We're happy to know that your holiday was a success and look forward to welcoming you back :)

Lovely location just set back from the coast. Spacious, well thought out, owners next door who helped out with a few hickups. Good parking with great patio, which we used for an early evening drink. We had a lovely break the only down points were one of the Sofa's was so terribly uncomfortable, the arms were solid hard and did not bend with movement, very unsuitable, more like a waiting room sofa, yes visually it looked great but so uncomfortable Secondly the bungalow on entering had a terrible damp musty smell and unfortunately on retuning home our clothes smell musty, not ideal but really needs attention. Although the two above issues were an issue as we were so desperate for a break we overlooked them.
Thanks for taking time to leave feedback. Pleased to hear that, despite the few hiccups, you were able to enjoy your holiday. Well see what can be done to improve the second sofa which was new for this season. We have also had a survey carried out by a Professional Damp Company, who thankfully, have reported that there isnt a penetrating damp issue, as such, but have recommended some improvements to the under-floor ventilation, which we are currently implementing. We are also taking the opportunity, now that the season has ended, to refurbish the master bedroom and replace the bedroom furniture.

Palm Villa is a little hidden gem in Widemouth Bay A 5 minute walk from the beach and 10 minute drive from Bude and near to the main A30. Clean and comfy, Laura and Duncan the owners are attached to the property and where friendly and helpful. The Cornish cream tea when we arrived was just what we needed. Thank you for a lovely stay

Guest from Hove stayed for 7 nights.
The bungalow smelt musty and strongly of damp. We were relieved we did not have to use the second bedroom. The cooker was old and the top was dirty and stained. The kitchen was cramped and not much room for food storage. There is no washing machine which was inconvenient as we wanted to wash the towels provided. They were old and very thin and became grubby quickly. There was no mattress protector underneath the bottom sheet and in fact we discovered that we had been sleeping on a proper mattress which was covered with a thick sheet of bare foam sponge. The bottom sheet had a dirty mark on it and was so creased that we wondered if it had been laundered. We think, as a property, it was overpriced. Would we go there again? No.
Thank you for taking time to give feedback. We appreciate honest and helpful feedback and will use it to ensure future guests will enjoy their stay with us. As your experience was clearly below your expectations, we wish you had felt that you could have raised these issues whilst here, so that we could have put matters right immediately. We always have spare towels available and would have happily provided further sets. We offer our guests who stay for 2 weeks a complete change of bed linen and towels mid-way through their stay and do have our own washing machine available, if needed. We appreciate that the memory-foam mattress topper is not to everyones taste, so weve taken this opportunity to order a new mattress. This is the first negative feedback we have received and we will work hard to ensure it is the last :)

An amazing welcome to have tea and homemade scones when we arrived. Lovely place to stay with a sun trap of a garden. Beautiful location. Would recommend to anyone who wants to visit widemouth. Close to the beach and coast path - we enjoyed walking to Bude from there.

Lovely and peaceful. The only suggestion I could make to improve on it is to install grab rails over the bath for disabled access to the shower. Felt welcome .

Guest from Towcester stayed for 7 nights.
After a long drive, we arrived to find a cream tea, with homemade scones and Cornish clotted cream waiting for us. Very welcoming and a super start to our holiday. Palm Villa is in a fantastic location, 150m approximately to unspolit Widemouth Bay and very clean and neatly presented, in a quiet cul-de-sac with no light pollution! There's even a fish & chip van on a Friday evening, perfect for the last night's meal. The beach is brilliant for surfing and body-boarding - RNLI patrolled, great café and range of surf/activity schools present. Dog friendly beach to the left of the rocks. Palm Villa has excellent facilities throughout, especially useful is the outside shower with plenty of hanging/drying/storage space for all your wet suits and beach kit. In addition, Palm Villa has an external games room, equipped with table football - good fun for all the family. Highly recommended.

This is a really nice bungalow with a wonderful 'suntrap' outside to sit and relax in. We really noticed how quiet it was. Not far from the surfing beach, and with an outside shower to rinse wetsuits, it was ideal for us. A long walk, across the fields will talk you along the canal to Bude.
