Chacewater is situated in a valley not far from Cornwall's capital Truro. Its name probably originates from the Breton 'chace' for hunting as the area was originally hunting ground for early kings of Cornwall. The village now boasts three pubs and some bright, elegant building.

The city of Truro is only about a 10 minute drive to the east and has a wide selection of good shopping including a Tescos, Sainsburys, Marks & Spencer and many other high street outlets. There is also a cinema and a great selection of restaurants, pubs & cafes. The resort of Newquay is about 12 miles to the north with its spectacular surf beaches at Fistral & Watergate Bay. Jamie Oliver's "Fifteen" restaurant is located here. Padstow, with its fine selection of restaurants influenced by Rick Stein is just over 20 miles. Harbourside towns & villages such as Fowey, Falmouth & St Mawes are all within easy reach. For those flying to Cornwall, the airport is within easy reach.

The Cathedral City of Truro is in the heart of Cornwall and offers a wealth of facilities for the visitor. Dominated by the stunning cathedral, it is one of the south west's most attractive cities. Lemon Quay plays host to many events throughout the year including the Cornwall Food & Drink Festival in the Autumn and the famous Truro Fatstock Show just before Christmas. Regular farmers markets occur every Wednesdays & Saturday and there are also arts & craft markets on Saturdays. There is a wonderful range of shopping for the visitor including all the regular high street stores including Marks & Spencer, Tescos & Sainsburys, but also a wide range of more specialist stores. It really is worth a wander through the back streets and alleys to find some fabulous little boutiques. Truro has a superb range of restaurants from Bustopher Jones & Mannings on Lemon Street to the always popular Pizza Express. There are lively bars, pubs & nightclubs including the superb Old Ale House, a busy Wetherspoons and the infamous L2 if you are so inclined! The Hall for Cornwall hosts everything from Shakespeare to rock concerts and the cinema on Lemon Street has all the latest releases.

summer holiday

A super place to stay -quiet, well equipped and a great location from which to tour Cornwall. We would have liked to have had WiFi but that would be our only criticism.

Guest from Coleford stayed for 7 nights.

Tranquil and immaculate. Wonderful value for money. Highly recommended.

Fabulous place to stay for 2 adults and a 10 year old. Spotlessly clean and very well equipped with a useful welcome pack, top quality super comfy bed, wonderful, large shower. Loved the raised. covered patio overlooking woods. Parking adjacent to accommodation, garden perfect for a holiday (and bar-b-q s) - very private. Great location, very rural, but only minutes from Truro and main routes, easy to head north or south for the day. I would definitely stay here again. Only downside, sofa bed small and not too comfy (as is the nature of sofa beds) and WIFI would be a useful addition. I would think it would be a little bit of a squeeze for 4 adults.

A great find

Had a very enjoyable week. Central for all parts of Cornwall. Spotlessly clean and very well appointed. We particularly enjoyed the private patio and garden area which we managed to use every day. Lovely quiet location.

Guest from Reading stayed for 3 nights.

Absolutely wonderful retreat

We loved morwenna. It has everything you need for a comfortable stay. It is furnished to a very high standard and is by far the cleanest self catering property I have experienced. Two very minor points would be only 1 toilet roll for stay is not adequate. We were provided with brand new towels which were wonderful however they malted severely, they were green and was embarrassing at the amount that was left on you when leaving the place to go sightseeing. Otherwise, I would highly recommend this place. We would love to visit in the future.

Guest from Solihull stayed for 7 nights.

First class and can recommend to anyone.

To say that cleanlyness, comfort and available help were good is a gross understatement. The help given in the case of my wife's mobility problem was immediate and very kind. The whole place exudes quality of equipment, convenience and comfort. We have rarely come across such a nice place to stay over the many years of renting property both in the UK and in France and Germany..
