Moonlight - Gorgeous little hideaway for two

We stayed in Moonlight, a lovely self-contained little home for two people with living room/kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. Comfortable, clean and bright, it was bathed in sunshine all day (lucky us). The views outside were of the surrounding countryside, but inside it felt like you were at the seaside! A lovely place to unwind at the end of a day out - we adopted the stone bench in the 'Zen' garden as our place to sit with our sundowner G&Ts - very relaxing! Having been in the hospitality business ourselves, we know what it takes to run a holiday business. John and Jill do a great job. Don't be put off by Cornwall Cottages' rather overwhelming written rules and T's & C's (sadly they probably do have to spell everything out several times). John and Jill are excellent hosts, relaxed, helpful and flexible. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Nice place

The way I drove to the cottage was kind of strange - a couple of miles of single track roads. I didn't use this route again. Go the other way (you will find it) and it is near the proper roads and A30. The cottage is really lovely but there are a couple of things I would do to it. I already did one of them - cleaned the cobwebs off the ceiling. There were quite a few. There is a fly issue too. They seem to be attracted to the bathroom and at one point we felt we were in that scene from the Amityville horror movie. They are getting through a small gap in the bathroom window. There were many - possibly the time of the year as it was getting cold and they were attracted to the heat. At night you can hear something wandering around. Scratching, walking and going about its business. It isn't in the actual cottage but is quite unnerving. An animal of some kind and it appears to be coming from the floorboards. It was faintly amusing for a time but after a couple of days it becomes annoying. The power is coin operated. I do not expect to pay to go anywhere and be expected to put coins in a meter for power. All in all it was a really nice week. The cottage is lovely, as are the grounds. Communication with the people there cannot be faulted but for the stay to have been 'Fabulous' the issues mentioned would have to be addressed. Just being honest.

From the Owner:
Hi! I am delighted to hear that you think the cottage is 'really lovely' and that you enjoyed the grounds which do prove very popular :-) However, I was sorry to hear that there were a few issues that you felt needed to be addressed. I'm not sure how the cobwebs were overlooked. My apologies. Barn conversions do seem to attract industrious spiders! The flies certainly took advantage of the late Indian summer conditions to extend their season and will venture indoors when the temperature falls. However, I am surprised that they were so numerous. Had I known, I would certainly have attempted to rid you of them. The electricity meter is clearly mentioned in the details and many of our guests think it is rather quaint! Moonlight is extremely economical on electricity and a week's worth is well below £10 at normal consumption levels. Using this method, rather than levying a set power charge, allows us to keep tariffs down which most guests prefer. The scratching is due to the fact that we are blessed with extensive wildlife here and the vast range of birds who prove so popular, occasionally nest under the eaves of the cottages. Despite the annual redecorating which this requires, we are delighted that the birds are so abundant. I am so sorry that you found this annoying at times. I always invite guests to let us know immediately, should there be a problem, so that we can respond instantly. I did not have the opportunity to make this clear as, when I came to greet you, your partner said she was happy with everything and seemed more keen to settle in rather than to have a chat. I hope that you feel your stay was sufficiently enjoyable that you may consider visiting Cornwall again. Jill

Autumn Break at Moonlight

Moonlight cottage is very homely, warm, clean and comfortable and thoughtfully decorated. It is about 10 minutes from Truro and is within easy access to A39 and A30 so we managed to visit North and South Cornwall quite easily. The hosts Jill and John are very nice and gave us a warm welcome when we arrived. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Moonlight cottage and would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

First break.

This is the first time we have been on this kind of holiday. We were met by the owners ( with wine and chocolate biscuits!) and as soon as we entered the property we felt at home. Moonlight contained everything we needed and had been very tastefully put together. We had a lovely holiday and hope that all our cottage experiences are as good. The bar has been set high.

A quiet, well situated property

The cottage is in a quiet location but is easy to access by car and there's a parking space at the property. It is in a great central location for accessing all areas in Cornwall. There's a good wifi signal throughout the property too. Jill and John were friendly and welcoming but unobtrusive. They made sure we were aware of some roadworks that could impact our journey and had a welcome pack of essentials - tea, coffee, milk, biscuits and wine. The gardens around the cottage are lovely to walk around and very well kept. The property is great value for money and I'd recommend it to others.

Lovely stay in Moonlight studio cottage

The cottage is beautiful, very comfortable, clean and very well equipped. Excellant welcome pack included a bottle of red wine, biscuits and a bottle of milk (also tea towel/dishcloth/scrubbing brush) The grounds are stunning and we were encouraged to enjoy it (which we did). The cottage is in a quiet rural setting, but you are 10 minutes into Truro itself, and ideally located to explore any part of Cornwall. The owners Jill And John were friendly but unobtrusive, very genuine people who want your stay to be enjoyed. Can Highly recommend Moonlight studio and we are currently re booking for next year.

Our week in moonlight

We had not been to Cornwall for many years so we're not sure on locations so booked moonlight cottage thinking it was in Truro We arrived and were welcomed by the owners who were very nice and they were of on holiday themselves The cottage though small was very nice well equipped and comfortable bit cobwebby but on the whole clean The cottage was on an old farm the grounds were very good kept immaculate But to get to the cottage you had to drive up a long narrow track long way from the village you could not walk out in the evening to eat you had to drive down the track when you went out Now this would suit anyone who wanted to be rural but we like to be somewhere were we can stroll out in the evenings So the cottage and setting were fine just not for us because of distance from anywhere

From the Owner:
We're glad you were pleased with the cottage during your stay. We're sorry you hadn't realised where the property was located, we do give full details on our website. We provide Google Maps & Street View so you can view the area before booking. Do bear this in mind for any future bookings so you can be sure to book a place you will enjoy!

Moonlight studio,a quiet rural retreat.

Owners instructions very easy to follow. found without problem. A very warm & friendly welcome,,on arrival & departure from the owners.Friendly but unobtrusive, with a can do attitude. Throughout the stay was aware they were around ,but very discreetly ,should any problems arise,am confident they would have been dealt with fast & efficiently. Moonlight studio delightful,Ideal for couple or one person. modern decor, beach hut style with all mod cons. A quiet rural retreat, ideal to relax .with a small tranquil zen garden & woods, public footpath local walks, ideal for serious walkers. Some form of own transport needed .Some distance from nearest village bus stop.rural bus service,1 pub,1 shop. Easy road access to nearest towns if own transport- Truro,(8 miles)Newquay(10)-otherwise by Taxi to Truro approx 15 pounds e.w. A useful bonus would have been supply of sun loungers/deck chairs for outdoor lounging/relaxing in sunny weather, from the smaller two properties- although there were some at larger property & am sure we could have borrowed .Ample outdoor table, chairs, benches were supplied in all areas. Cornwall Cottages website was easy to use & efficient. Would stay Moonlight ,again & would book others via Cornwall Cottages. Would Recommend.

4 days near Truro

I loved the blue and white theme throughout speaking to us of a seaside theme. Everywhere was clean & everything we needed for our short stay. There was very little room in the bedroom to put our suitcase or bags. The garden and surroundings were very attractive and quiet, our hosts welcoming and informative.
