Property Location

Falmouth is one of Cornwall's most popular places to visit because of its unique mix of attractions, water sports, beaches, history and place to eat. The National Maritime Museum Cornwall and Pendennis Castle are both high on visitors' lists of places to visit and the views from Pendennis on a fine day are truly magical. Falmouth is the sailing capital of Cornwall with its spectacular deep water natural harbour offering a haven for both cruisers and racers. Many events are held through the summer culminating in the famous Falmouth Regatta Week and associated shore side events. These events are easily reached on foot as Royal Cornwall Yacht Club is 5 minutes down the road, Falmouth High Street is a 10 minute walk away and Events Square is about 15 minutes by foot.

As a university town many events are arranged by the students including annual exhibitions of art and photographic work. There is a Sainsbury supermarket 2 minutes away by car and a large Asda 5 minutes away.

The beaches at Gyllingvase & Swanpool are coarse sand and are wonderfully sunny south facing spots. You can ride the ferry to beautiful St Mawes for the day or take a delightful trip around the estuary stopping off at either Trelissick Gardens or Smugglers Cottage for a cream tea! There are plenty of places to eat & drink in Falmouth and recently Rick Stein has opened his Fish & Chip Restaurant & Oyster Bar at Discovery Quay adding to the superb mix across the town.

4 day break in Falmouth

I visited Falmouth for the very first time when I stayed at Midships, have to say in addition to the property being absolutely excellent, I've also fallen in love with Falmouth. Would 100% recomend Midships, spotlessly clean, good communication, and sitting out on the deck, overlooking the marina makes you feel like you've won the lottery ! fantastic property....

A six night stay in a modern contemporary apartment.

A very well appointed modern apartment situated on the outskirts of Falmouth with easy access to the town centre. We had a view over the marina although there was an element of industry in the form of work being carried out on a large barge but this did not affect our enjoyment. The 15 minute walk into town gave us the opportunity to walk off our supper from one of the many superb pubs and restaurants in the town. Would happily recommend.

Watersedge house right on the Marina

Had a wonderful week in this lovely house overlooking the yachts in the marina. Property very spacious. Excellent facilities i.e. two en-suite rooms + one with bathroom. Very clean, comfortable and well equiped. Enjoyed the 20-30 swans that came to see us every day. (The only thing we were a little disappointed in was the fact that it was near to the industrial activities that were going on, but this did not spoil our enjoyment - No need to put this in the review)

A great holiday spent at a great property

My wife, daughter and I spent a great holiday at Midships in October. The property was luxurious throughout , all fixtures and fittings were of the highest quality with no expense spared. A fantastic lounge/diner with great views over the Marina looking out at all the boats day and night. A great main bedroom with views also of the Marina with the most comfortable bed/pillows you will ever sleep in. Great sun decks outside of lounge and main bedroom , would be great in the summer. The property was spotlessly clean throughout, a credit to the owners and housekeepers Charlotte and Naomi. Midships is a great place to spend a holiday and also a good location to explore and visit other tourist attractions in South West Cornwall. We hope to return again to Midships in the future, we would highly recommend this holiday property.

Noise

The house is next door to a industrial complex where there was a large boat being loaded with large rocks and it was very noisy from 7am to about 8.30pm all the time we were there. Also there is building works going on very near by the other side of the house which was all noisy.

WOW!

WOW! This property was amazing...with such fabulous views of the estuary! We thoroughly enjoyed watching the flock of swans (25-30) being fed by a man from a neighbouring property each day, the flock would leave mostly in single file to the bank on the opposite side, then return later in the day to be fed again. On the third day we noticed a family of swans; the parents and eight cygnets, it was captivating. If the flock happened to be around when the family arrived, one of the parents would see the others off, and they just left! The parents were so protective, it was incredible privilege to watch. On one occasion we noticed a duck and it's ducklings, but only for a fleeting moment. We were a group of 5, and found there was plenty of space for us all. The master bedroom really was super...the bed was so comfy, we would like one the same!! It did get rather hot in the property, at that was with the underfloor heating turned off. In the hot weather maybe a fan in the two lower bedrooms would be more comfortable for the guests. We found the location perfect for sightseeing, and only a short drive in to Falmouth. With plenty of places to eat, in fact spoilt for choice! If you know were you want to have a meal, it is worth booking a table in advance. We did try Rick Stein's in Falmouth, but to be honest, it was it bit over rated in our opinion. Could not fault Midships, we would definitely recommend. Falmouth really is a great place to stay in Cornwall.

Overlooking boats.

A beautiful place to stay with stylish furnishings. The house has one massive master bedroom with wonderful views over the water, and two much smaller doubles, each with their own bathroom. It is worth mentioning that one is asked to remove shoes on entering the property so although it has underfloor heating it would be advisable to take slippers.

Great location

Midships was a perfect place to stay for us and our grownup children & partners There was parking for 3 cars, so we could have some independence of each other whilst sharing a family holiday. It is within walking distance of Falmouth centre - which has a great range of restaurants pubs and shops for all ages. We got the ferry from Falmouth to St Mawes which is worth doing, there were dolphins in the sea during our crossing. Would definitely recommend a stay here and I am sure we will go again in the future. The only caution would be if you have reduced mobility as there are some internal stairs that have to be negotiated to get to living area and bedrooms.

Midships in November 2017

A lovely location and generally well maintained. Comfortable beds, flat screen TVs in all bedrooms and lounge, induction hob, dish washer and underfloor heating are all plus points. The open plan kitchen and lounge-diner gave wonderful views across the river. I thought the lounge and diner needed to be reversed to make the best use of the space. The washer dryer was not very effective - better and cheaper to have a washing machine and a tumble dryer. Not a good place for those with any mobility problems or of greater than average diameter - there are stairs to every room and all shower doors slide to give a maximum space of 14-15", if you are any more than this there is a struggle to enter and leave the shower. Not keen on the waste water system, seems to be pumped up to the main sewer hence major restrictions on what can go down the toilet, a bit like a macerator in use. One car parking space is on a slope facing a bedroom, worried each time that a wrong gear or weak hand brake would mean a major crash into the building. Could a barrier be considered? Overall an enjoyable experience but the above needs to be noted by new visitors.

Fabulous view. Property of the highest standard.

The wonderful view overlooking Falmouth Marina is just the start of a fantastic stay at Midships. Not Just a beautiful view but a ever-changing and fascinating outlook. The property gives all you could ask for in luxury accommodation, not just being very modern and contemporary in design, but also providing extremely comfortable and practical living areas . The master bedroom is truly perfect. The property comes fully equipped with everything you need, all being of the highest quality and the level of cleanliness could not be faulted. The secluded and private parking alongside the entrance is a great advantage. The property is within a short walk of both Falmouth centre and Penryn. All in all a FABULOUS place to stay for a holiday.

Wonderful stay in a beautiful property with panoramic views over the marina.

'Wow' was our first impression on arrival. The photos online were very impressive and did not disappoint when we actually opened the door and went in to the property. Clean, contemporary and spacious, with the most amazing views over the waterfront. Travelling with an eighteen year old and his girlfriend, plus our younger son and a friend, the accommodation was perfect for us. We all had our own bathroom and for us, having the added bonus of our own decked seating area outside the master bedroom, was just perfect. Opening the tri-fold doors, either morning or evening and just drinking in the view, was truly wonderful. My husband and I could sit upstairs with a glass of wine and just relax, knowing that the teenagers were very happy downstairs in the large, open plan living area. As the previous review mentioned, it was nice to have the additional items provided and our only comment would be that this would be a bonus to be displayed in the property details. To see a box with the additional items supplied, like a tick list reading * washing up liquid * bin bags * hand wash etc, would be extremely helpful and good to know before you arrive. Another very helpful point to mention is that there is a Waitrose in Truro - I booked a large delivery to arrive just after 4.00 pm, and it was so nice not to have to go out and do a big shop. We could immediately relax on our fist evening with plenty of good food and wine. All of us could not fault the accommodation or location of Midships at all. The walk in to the heart of Falmouth took an easy 10/15 minutes, and there are quite a range of different places to shop, eat and enjoy. Another bonus would be for a visitor book to be left in the property, for comments and recommendations on restaurants and places to visit. We would highly recommend walking through the town centre to the Marina, where our eldest son went out on the Orca Day Safari - beautiful coastline, great fun, informative and wonderful to see dolphins and other wildlife. This is located close to the Maritime Museum, along with a choice of well known restaurants such as Rick Stein, Pizza Express and Zizzi, amongst others. Another good restaurant was the Stables, a buzzy pizza restaurant with lovely stafff and very good food. We took the ferry to St Mawes - very, very pretty and we booked an afternoon of kayaking which was great fun. My husband and I loved it so much that we went back a few days later, driving this time and taking the King Harry Ferry to cross the water. We ate at the very lovely Idle Rocks Hotel, over looking the water and were blessed with such fantastic weather that we could easily have been in Italy or France! There are many, many positive things to mention about this beautiful area of Cornwall and in short, we could not recommend Midships,as a place to stay, more highly.

Lovely stay, relaxing week in no small part due to this lovely house, would highly recommended

Stayed as a family of 3 and one partner, for 7 nights, in August, travelled in 2 cars, ate in half the time, ate out half the time. Arrival instructions excellent, adequate parking for 2 cars. Arrival using key box is great for late arrivals. The flat has got 3 bed and 3 bath which was perfect, all fittings were of great quality and clean. Pleasure to have under floor heating, and heated towel rails, which were responsive and weren't time restricted. Cleanliness great on arrival, with a lovely platter of welcome scones, jam and cream! Dishwasher provided, with tabs, foil and oil provided, with washing up liquid, kitchen roll etc. A few herbs and spices there too. Washing machine was new and clean, with a range of programmes, biological powder provided, great for washing clothes after a day at the beach. Quiet location with breathtaking view, we were taken aback by quite how nice it was even after having seen the pictures. Local amenities great, with a decent sized Sainsbury's 2 mins away and a Lidl a bit further. Easy walk to falmouth center, can't comment on public transport. Soft furnishings all clean and comfortable, plenty of storage in wardrobes and chests. We got a better rate going directly through Cornwall cottages than through AirBNB so shop around!

Graduation stay

The property is stunning. Superb views, fabulous facilities, beautifull decore and furnishings. The master bedroom is a real treat with spectacular panoramic views and wonderful sun deck. The living area with lounge, kitchen and dining area is comfortable and has everything you need. We sat and watched the boats come and go and the swans meander past for hours in perfect peace. We are a bit fussy but the property was spotlessly clean and beautifully presented and we even had scones , cream and jam waiting for us. It is a stone's throw from Falmouth and close to local supermarkets. There are two Parking spaces. We stayed a week and will hopefully go back. You will not be disappointed this is a perfect 10 holiday treat.

A fantastic property,

A property of undoubted quality in a tranquil location. Beautifully furnished, well equipped, clean and very comfortable. As the weather was poor, we didn't have the doors to the balcony open, but had the weather been better, the noise from the nearby work station could have been annoying.

Fantastic Property

We stayed at Midships for one week along with my parents. What an amazing property!! The views are spectacular. The property has been finished to a high standard with attention to detail. We have never stayed in a property that we struggled to find any faults with - Midships Well Done!! One thing that is particularly important to us is the cleanliness of the property. We have stayed in several luxury properties before but always found they are not as spotless as promised, but Midships was immaculate so the owners and housekeepers have done a sterling job - Thank you. We definitely hope to stay again and we had a truly relaxing and enjoyable holiday. 5 Stars!!!!

Beautiful house in stunning location

This is a beautiful house with stunning views and you don't even have to get out of bed to see them. The owners have thought of everything. The house itself is in a very peaceful location and yet is only 10 minutes level walk into Falmouth, passing the nearest pub on the way, The Working Boat which is also fabulous and on the sea front. The weather didn't behave itself at all but we were in such a beautiful house we didn't even notice. Thank you for a lovely holiday and the welcome pack

One of the most beautiful places to stay in Falmouth

Some friends and I recently travelled to Falmouth to reminisce on our time together as students living in Falmouth. We chose Midships as accommodation and as soon as we walked through the door we were blown away by the property. Spectacular views of the harbour, plenty of toilets and bath/showrooms and a fantastic living area with doors that lead out to a spacious balcony. Parking was also great. Cornwall cottages and the owners made us feel very welcome and their communication was great. We are looking forward to a longer stay at Midships next year as 3 nights wasn't enough, value for money is amazing. We can't recommend this place enough. Seeing is believing.

Stay at Midships,Falmouth October 14th 2016

I cannot find enough superlatives to describe A?MidshipsA? - We had a fantastic stay at this property. ItA?s on a lovely new development, A?MidshipsA? is one of four river front properties. From the moment we arrived on the drive, there was a massive A?wow factorA?, the property is very attractive. The interior design is unfussy and of the highest quality, and obviously a huge amount of thought has gone into the dA(C)cor and furnishings. There are great view from the two balconies of the river and marina. Every detail has been thought of and we had a very comfortable and relaxing stay. This property is definitely a A?fantasy home by the seaA?! We would recommend a stay at Midships without reservation.

Late Booking in Falmouth

From the moment we arrived at Midships we were enchanted with the property and location. The view over the river was gorgeous and sitting on the balcony listening to the sounds from the river and boats was so relaxing. The house is modern and luxurious, it is brand new and the interior design is fabulous. From the bed linens, towels and all of the soft furnishings every detail has been well thought out. We had a cream tea waiting for us from Cornwall's Cottages and they also provided tea, coffee, sugar and milk which was much appreciated. I can't praise this property enough as every room has the " wow " factor from the open plan lounge/kitchen to the sublime master bedroom and bathroom. The property has 3 parking spaces so we often walked into Falmouth town centre to dine or use the ferry service to St Mawes, it is a comfortable 15 minute walk with the river on your left and a raised footpath right on to the high street. This stay has been a huge success and will use this company again.

Just wow!

We had the pleasure of staying at midships for a weeks family holiday, 2 adults, 2 children. The accommodation is actually even better than in the photos, they really do not do this property justice. Everything from the quality linens and towels to the sumptuous furnishings make this property an absolute pleasure to stay in. We were welcomed with a lovely cream tea and a hospitality tray with goodies that got our holiday off to a great start. The views from the balconies are just amazing, as are the sunsets. There is a working boatyard to one side of the view which had occasional noise but certainly did not affect our enjoyment of the property. Falmouth is a wonderful area with lots to do, lovely places to eat, drink and shop and i'd love to return again soon!
