Property Location
Veryan is ideally located for exploring the Roseland Peninsula and is only moments from the spectacular Carne Beach or the dramatic coastline around the historic fishing village of Portloe. Nearby is the lovingly restored Melinsey Mill where you can relax in a charming valley with a delicious Cornish cream tea.
Portloe is considered by many to be the jewel in the crown of the Roseland peninsula and one of the prettiest villages in Cornwall. Its steep sided valleys has meant that it has managed to escape development over the years and many buildings differ little from when they were built. Sir John Betjeman said of Portloe "One of the least spoiled and most impressive of Cornish fishing villages".
It is wonderfully quiet and peaceful, yet it has a really good local pub & hotel. The village itself is only a short drive from the other villages such as St Mawes. The city of Truro is also within a 25 minute drive.
The Lugger Hotel in Portloe with its excellent restaurant is only a short drive away and the Ship Inn is also a good place to eat in Portloe. The New Inn at Veryan serves food. There are shops at Veryan and a Londis store at Bessy Beneath. Further pubs, shops & restaurants are also available in Tregony, Ruan Lanihorne, Portscatho & St Mawes.

An opportunity to stay in the heart of the Roseland Peninsula and explore this lovely unspoilt area.
Reviewed on 07/10/2021We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Little Jago. It was very warm and comfortable, well-equipped plus the owners were welcoming and helpful. The garden had a nice peaceful feel and was fairly private. There was a handy walk across the fields with a great view to the village of Veryan (1 mile away) which had a good friendly pub with tasty meals, plus there was a handy shop & P.O. We really liked the location with amazing coastal walks and beaches not too far away. St Mawes was a lovely harbour village with a decent choice of places to eat and an interesting castle. The King Harry Ferry not too far away gave access to other places across the river i.e. Trelissick Gardens, Truro etc. We were lucky with the late summer weather but all in all we will definitely be returning to stay there again.

A great location to escape to
Reviewed on 01/07/2021Was a little unsure when I booked as to the privacy with the cottage being attached to the owners B&B but neednA?t have worried. On arrival was greeted by the owner Shane & left to get on with our holiday but she was there if we needed her. There is plenty of parking on site. The cottage was very spacious with everything you need for a pleasant stay & the garden around the property is huge so great for us as we had a dog. The property is down a country road so was lovely to get away from the noise of traffic. There was a Texaco garage just up the road with a small inside shop which had everything we needed if we didnA?t want to go to a main supermarket. Carne beach is very close with good National Trust parking facilities & toilets just a few minute walk away from the beach. The cottage is in an ideal location to also visit other resorts & wouldnA?t hesitate to recommend to family & friends.

Lovely autumn break in Jago cottage!
Reviewed on 30/10/2015We stayed for a few days in late Oct, with our teenage daughters and dog - Jago cottage was perfect for us, cosy but with plenty of space for us all. The location is great, very peaceful and just a short walk from both Veryan village and Portloe. The wifi was OK but not great inside the cottage, but that was our only minor niggle - otherwise everything was fantastic, very clean and well-equipped cottage in a lovely spot.

Last minute booking
Reviewed on 20/07/2015We were pleased to find Jago Cottage as a last minute break for our family + 2 dogs. Clean and functional. Local beach is dog friendly (off lead) after 6pm. Pity the bathroom window doesn't open, phew - hot!

Cottage in peaceful countryside
Reviewed on 29/06/2015The cottage is a modern building attached to the main house. Both overlook a small shared garden, the main garden is large and accessible for your dog, there is nothing to stop a dog leaving the property. There are 2 bedrooms and 5 beds. The bedrooms are rather dark, but the living area is bright and airy. The hosts are friendly and welcoming. The Wi-Fi signal is OK in the kitchen, but does not extend to the bedrooms, or reliably to the lounge. The TV suffered signal loss at various times, for short periods (less than a minute), which was frustrating, and appeared to be related to the wind. Distance to Veryan in under a mile, distance to the beach is about 1.75 miles.

Good dog location
Reviewed on 04/05/2015We thoroughly enjoyed being at Jago Cottage. The owners were present but not intrusive. The garden was lovely for the dogs and there were plenty of walks nearby. The furnishings were good and it was lovely and warm. A few niggles - we had a problem getting the DVD to work (we could have asked - but we didn't) and there were quite a few light bulbs missing in the kitchen. Spares were available but we didn't want to spend our time changing light bulbs! The frying pans had seen better days. Apart from that we would recommend it and go again.

Jago Cottage
Reviewed on 06/04/2015An excellent place to stay, especially if you have a dog and /or children as there is lots of garden space and they can roam freely and safely. Hosts are lovely and welcoming, friendly and available if you should require them. Some very nice touches, like a freshly baked cake on arrival and simple stuff like milk in the fridge. The location is not right by the sea, but there is a nice and fairly gentle walk into Portloe via footpaths through farmland, starting right outside the property. Another goes into the local village. We had a nice week, despite the dodgy April weather and would recommend this as a place to stay.

We shall be back !
Reviewed on 05/04/2015We had a lovely holiday, the cottage was just as it appeared. Shane, the owner and her husband were really friendly and welcoming. We were left a lovely cake and a bottle of bubbly wine. unfortunately we could not finish the lovely cake as most of us are unable to eat wheat flour but we really appreciated the gesture. We know the area fairly well as my father lives locally, so it is great to know there is somewhere so convenient to stay when we come to visit. Oh and the directions were perfect..

JAGO COTTAGE
Reviewed on 23/09/2014A very well appointed holiday home about 1.7 miles from the nearest beach, although no views to speak of. Very comfortable. Hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. A sponge cake appeared on the Monday... Would definitely consider staying there again.

Very good but a few opportunites to improve
Reviewed on 01/07/2014Very warm welcome from the owners, lovely gesture to provide a cream tea and a bottle of wine, constructive feedback would be cleanliness could be improved eg bathroom bin had not been emptied and quite dusty, more detailed cleaning needed. It was not particulary well equipped to other cottages we have stayed in ie no oven gloves and the washer dryer only worked as a washer which was inconvenient. Would also be good if the patio was sectioned off from the owners garden as no privacy Overall a very enjoyabke stay but quite overpriced for 4 nights costing over AGBP400

Definitely one to return to
Reviewed on 15/06/2014We really enjoyed Jago Cottage. Hayden and Shane made us welcome right from the start and were helpful and friendly throughout, whilst obviously leading busy lives themselves. We loved the fresh flowers and cake on arrival, extra touches that just made the cottage special. Also a very practical solution to a door ramp which we really appreciated. The cottage was spacious and comfortable, and lots of room for wheelchair movement. The bathroom was beautifully warm which two of us loved but one found too hot! We would definitely return, thank you H,J, and C.

First Family Holiday
Reviewed on 21/05/2014We had a lovely stay at Jago Cottage with our 6 month old baby and energetic terrier. Everyone was really friendly and helpful, and nothing was too much trouble - even stretching to providing a beer and bottle opener for my husband on our late afternoon walk when we found out the pub hadn't opened yet!. Our dog was made to feel very welcome and loved running up and down the huge lawn! Great family and dog friendly beaches nearby and fantastic coastal walk around Portloe easily accessible by foot from the accommodation. We were really impressed with the standard of the accommodation and look forward to a return visit in the future.
