Whether you want a special place to spend time with the family or a get-away-from-it-all time with friends, Fowey Retreat is the perfect place for your Cornish holiday. Near enough to join in with anything that is going on yet secluded, quiet and private on the edge of beautiful country and just a short walk from the glorious coastal path. Lankelly Lane is Fowey’s best kept secret. The Lane is just above the town, its houses set in their own large private, enclosed gardens with a long view over the fields to the ocean. The Lane is overwhelmingly occupied by local people. Turn left out of the five bar gate and you head towards Lankelly Farm past the local riding stables, Coombe and the breathtaking views of Polridmouth beach, the National Trust coastal path and the great ascent to the Gribben Head. Or shortcut across the headland via the woodland paths of Tregaminion and Menabilly (Du Maurier country) to the sandy beach and rockpools of Polkerris and Sam's wonderful restaurant or a pint at the Rashleigh Arms. Turn right and you are a 10 minute walk from the town centre or 200 yards from the tree lined path down to Neptune Point and Readymoney Cove and St. Catherine’s Castle.

Fowey Retreat is used for some of the year as a Christian Retreat. It is a spiritual place and there is a wonderful library containing a large collection of religious reading as well as many other themes. One of the rooms upstairs is used as a small chapel and this is available for use if you request at the time of booking.

Life on the water culminates in the middle of August with the Fowey Regatta Week where yacht racing takes place all week. Watch the historic Famouth Working Boats racing in the close confines of the estuary or enjoy the many festivities around the town. The highlight is without doubt the spectacular display by the Red Arrows who rate Fowey as one of their most dramatic displays because of the steep valley. A memorable stay

A comfortable, well-equipped house. A little dated but homely. A truly excellent garden that is large and safely contained proving ideal for children. The large patio and garden table were great for alfresco meals. Some extra chairs in the Lounge would have been good since only 6 can be accommodated at the moment. Fowey itself is charming and there are pretty little lanes nearby that give access to the local beach. Would definitely recommend this property to others. It was great value for money

Great stay at Fowey Retreat

Fowey Retreat is a nice traditional house. The garden is lovely and great for kids. We loved the location with walks to several beaches along country paths, which meant we could leave the car at home. Fowey is a lovely little place, and it's also close to the Eden Project and Lanhydrock house. We would happily return to the house again.

Great house to rent, lovely location. We needed the flexibility of plenty of rooms, with a large group of individuals. Owners were excellent - Thanks for the cake and tea welcome spread.

A fantastic house, with incredible garden

A beautiful house, well equipped, with a glorious garden for everyone to enjoy. We we were a mixed party with an age range of 4 to 70s and the house worked perfectly for everyone. Fab kitchen with most things you could need and a lovely table for breakfast. Lots of showers for a large group and plenty of space so you don't feel on top of each other. Would highly recommend to anyone!

Fowey retreat

Really enjoyed the stay at Fowey. The garden was a major contributing factor, the space was amazing! House is comfortable and roomy. Everything was perfect. Although it was not an issue for us, the location could be a difficulty for some families. The house is situated somewhat out of town, it is within walking distance if you are ok with steep hills!

Fowey Retreat

This is a very comfortable property, ideal for an extended family get-together. We were there in winter, when it was very cosy. The outdoor areas would be lovely in summer. Sarah and Robbie were very thoughtful and welcoming. The only improvement we would have liked was a larger fridge - in a property which sleeps ten the fridge really was a bit on the small side. However, the kitchen was very well equipped in all other respects, and this did not spoil our stay.

Please note that there is no Streetview along Lankelly Lane
