Property Location

Falmouth is one of Cornwall's most popular places to visit because of its unique mix of attractions, water sports, beaches, history and place to eat. The National Maritime Museum Cornwall and Pendennis Castle are both high on visitors lists of places to visit and the views from Pendennis on a fine day a truly magical. Falmouth is the sailing capital of Cornwall with its spectacular deep water natural harbour offering a haven for both cruisers and racers. Many events are held through the summer culminating in the famous Falmouth Regatta Week and associated shore side events.

The beaches at Gyllyngvase & Swanpool are coarse sand and are wonderfully sunny south facing spots. You can ride the ferry to beautiful St Mawes for the day or take a delightful trip around the estuary stopping off at either Trelissick Gardens, Malpas or Truro. There are plenty of places to eat & drink in Falmouth and recently Rick Stein has opened his Fish & Chip Restaurant & Oyster Bar at Discovery Quay adding to the superb mix across the town.

A short drive away is the Helford River. This delightful part of Cornwall includes places such as Mawnan Smith, Helford Passage, Constantine & Gweek. The area has many delights such as Trebah and Glendurgan Gardens, The Seal Sanctuary at Gweek, Goonhilly Earth and Satellite Station and The Ferry Boat Inn. Daphne du Maurier wrote her only romantic novel Frenchmans Creek about the River Helford, and who can blame her, the views really are beautiful. Glendurgan Gardens, run by the National Trust, hold a 176 year old laurel maze and the 'Giants Stride' swing is very popular with children. St Anthony-in-Meneage holds a lovely little church primarily of medieval architecture. Maenporth beach, tucked away on the westerly edge of Falmouth Bay and boasting spectacular views, is well worth a visit.

Excellent, stylish and comfortable property

We loved staying in this property! It is well furnished with stylish, contemporary decor and a very well equipped kitchen. The location is great - very central with an easy walk (if you don't mind steep hills!) to beaches, shops, restaurants, ferry and harbour.

Home from home

A lovely little house with all home comforts, perfect for a stay with the dog who was right at home. Great location for walking into the town to eat and have a drink in the evening, parking not easy but expected in town centre. Would stay again.

Well refurbished property with a comfortable feel

Fal River Townhouse has been refurbished to a high yet comfortable standard. The marine theme suits the town and is attractive without being. The fitments and furnishings are more than adequate. The only item we lacked was a teapot! The only things that might prove a problem for other users:1) the garage is very small. Our 2003 Focus JUST fitted. A later model would not have fitted. My partner is a very capable driver and just managed to manoeuvre the car inside. 2) the roller blind in the lounge was not well secured to the ceiling.

Perfect Stay

My daughter was attending a course at Gorton Studios for the week, so we wanted a property that was close to Kelligrew Street and that would also allow dogs, as my husband and I were planning to walk some of the coastal footpath during the week. It was lovely to take a stroll into town in the evening to find something to eat and as for our pasty competition we were divided, I was a fan of Ann's and my husband preferred Warren's. We will have to return soon so we can decided on an overall winner!! The property fitted our needs perfectly, the only draw back was the parking as we have a large car which wouldn't fit into the garage but we easily over came this by parking in the street adjacent to ours. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Great little town house

Fabulous location in the heart of Falmouth! Slightly quirky decor- we loved the porthole! Everything you need for self catering holiday, warm and comfy with plenty of room. Only downside for us was the garage too small for our car so had to find somewhere to park and the students next door Had a party one night, which was very loud!! Definitely go back!

All excellent except garage

All excellent except description of ''garage'' being a bit misleading, no way of getting a large family estate car in the garage resulting in having to find road-side parking 10 minutes walk away. OK off season but nigh on impossible in high season. I think it would be impossible to get anything but the smallest of cars comfortably into the garage. This needs a more accurate description in the advertisement, could be a big problem for some. Every other aspect of the accommodation was excellent, representing good value for money. Would definitely consider re-booking in off season.

A perfect spot to chill and relax

Ideally located for enjoying the benefits of beautiful Falmouth. Stunning views of the town and only a short walk from gorgeous beaches. The house was well appointed for a holiday home but would recommend advising visitors that the garage is only suitable for a 'small car' and that no parking available on the immediate street at any time of day - saying this we scouted round other streets nearby and it would be possible to park fairly close but depend on time of day as to how easy this is. Although we usually like a more rural setting when holidaying with our dog I found Falmouth and all the surrounding areas so 'doggy friendly' and loved exploring the walks along the headland to Swanpool. Would definitely visit this property again as so close to our daughter who lives in the next road !! Was sorry to have had only a week and look forward to our next visit as so much to see and wonderful walks - my Fitbit has never worked so hard !!

A September week in Falmouth

We stayed a week at Fal River Town House in September 2016. A lovely lovely house well placed in Falmouth for places to eat and shop, close to the harbour and just far enough away from the town centre to ensure you are not disturbed when the bars close. The interior of the house is lovely so modern and there is everything you could possibly want/need for a relaxing holiday. My son particularly loved the huge tv!!! However, I would not be truthful if I did not mention a couple of things, I drive a small car and barely managed to get it in the garage, I only used it once thanks to the help of a very helpful native who guided me in, there is plenty of parking round the corner so we parked there for the remainder of the week. The other thing is the storage, there is one wardrobe and one bedside cabinet, there was only me and my son so wasnt a huge problem but a family of four would struggle. All that said I would not hesitate to stay there again, we had a lovely week and loved Falmouth.
