Good Holiday

Lovely apartment, great pool and sauna, although never found the Jacuzzi! 15 minute walk into town is not too far and Carnethic House is very quiet and peaceful.

Reply from Owner

Thank you for your comments. Just for future reference the apartment does not advertise or have a Jacuzzi or hot tub, sorry for the confusion.

A lovely week

A lovely location on the outskirts of Fowey, with easy access by car to loads of areas to visit. The property was easy to find and there were no issues with the allocated parking during our stay. The kids loved the swimming pool and we used it a few times. The apartment was well appointed and plenty of space for the six of us. Would recommend and consider staying again.

Family holiday in Fowey

Full family holiday - 5 adults and 1 baby so needed to stay in a place with lots of space that was baby safe and this apartment certainly met our requirements. The self-catering apartment provided all of the equipment (plates, cups, pots, pans, TV, DVD etc) needed to ensure an enjoyable stay and it was wonderful to have access to an indoor swimming pool as the August weather wasn't great. Although we did have one day of nice weather which we celebrated with a bbq in our own courtyard. There were only a couple of drawbacks - 1. Although there is designated parking for each apartment, this isn't always observed and can cause some issues. 2. Some of the larger soft furnishing (double bed, couches) need updating as they are slightly lumpy.

Reply from Owner

A great holiday experience is our priority, therefore we have contacted you directly regarding your comments and still don't fully understand your scoring. Parking during the summer months in Cornwall can be challenging at times and this was mentioned whilst booking. Furnishings are continually upgraded the sofa is less than a year old, the seat cushion has now been plumped so hopefully this will help improve the comfort. Both double bed mattresses are less than a year old and last one being replaced in June after guest feedback. We also encourage our guests who have any issues to contact our property manager straight away in order to resolve any concerns.

Lovely apartment with great pool in handy location

The Courtyard apartment is a bright, welcoming space with plenty of room for a family. It was spotlessly clean with all the expected comforts and appliances. My children loved the pool which was warm and clean too. Positives: the pool, the showers/baths, the oven and toaster :) as well as the location - Fowey itself is lovely. Minor negative points: the fridge is incredibly noisy which is a little annoying when trying to relax in the lounge area to watch TV or read. Apart from the kingsize in the master bedroom, the beds aren't very comfortable, but that's just our opinion. We enjoyed our stay and would book again. Thanks

A great place to stay

This is an excellent apartment. It's decorated to a high standard and is very well equipped with good quality items. We ate in quite a bit and the kitchen had everything needed to prepare a variety of meals. The open plan living area is quite spacious with a large kitchen, good sized range-style cooker and hob and full sized dishwasher. There are many thoughtful touches such as individually wrapped tea bags, sachets of coffee, sugar and it was great to have liquid soap, washing up liquid etc provided. The twin room is ideal for 2 children but the light tends to come in in the mornings as there are internal shutters but no curtains. It would be handy to have curtains as well - our children wake early in a bright room away from home especially during the summer. The pool was a real bonus and we were pleasantly surprised at how clean everything was, the variety of pool toys and accessories and the warmth of the water. The walk back up from the village is quite steep and along narrow roads so we preferred to drive into the village which was very easy given it was low season and quite quiet. Overall, a lovely half term break.

A Summary of the break in Fowey

My only criticism I would have is the top of the fridge freezer was dusty and it had an old sweet on the top of it. The old man who lives in the hose at the back of the pool is not a nice man, if you use the pool he is in there checking to see if you have wound the pool cover up correctly and if not you get both barrels from him, he also complains that the sauna is left on, it needs 45 minutes to heat up. He also checks to make sure you have put the pool cover back on the pool. It felt like he was watching all the time. I would recommend it, but put off by his spying.....

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback and we are sorry that on this occasion we did not meet all your expectations. The fridge/freezer is only a few months old and unfortunately the top was missed off the clean. We have brought your comments to the attention of the cleaners and it will receive a full clean on their next visit. We have also spoken to the local man, who is an apartment owner, and also shown him your comments. He confirmed that he was merely trying to help rather than making you feel uncomfortable. He apologises if that was the case. We have known him for many years and this is the only negative feedback every received, with many of our guests willingly accepting his help with all of the common facilities and taking advantage of his local knowledge. Finally we do hope, this did not stop you from having a lovely holiday in Fowey.

Lovely apartment

We stayed here for a week at half term. The apartment is large and beautifully furnished with everything you will need. The indoor heated pool was a fantastic feature for both us and the kids and was so warm I actually swam every day sometimes twice a day. Would highly recommend this place.
