Property Location
Falmouth is one of Cornwall's most popular places to visit because of its unique mix of attractions, water sports, beaches, history and places to eat. The National Maritime Museum, Cornwall and Pendennis Castle are both high on visitors lists of places to visit and the views from Pendennis on a fine day a truly magical. Falmouth is the sailing capital of Cornwall with its spectacular deep-water natural harbour offering a haven for both cruisers and racers. Many events are held through the summer culminating in the famous Falmouth Regatta Week and associated shore side events.
The beaches at Maenporth, Gyllyngvase & Swanpool are coarse sand and are wonderfully sunny south facing spots. You can ride the ferry to beautiful St Mawes for the day or take a delightful trip around the estuary stopping off at either Trelissick Gardens, Malpas or Truro. There are plenty of places to eat & drink in Falmouth and recently Rick Stein has opened his Fish & Chip Restaurant & Oyster Bar at Discovery Quay adding to the superb mix across the town. Michael Caines has just purchased the wonderful Cove Restaurant where you can soak up the atmosphere, enjoy a fine meal and marvel at the fabulous views across the beach and Falmouth Bay towards St Anthonys Lighthouse.
A short drive away is the Helford River. This delightful part of Cornwall includes places such as Mawnan Smith, Helford Passage, Constantine & Gweek. The area has many delights such as Trebah and Glendurgan Gardens, The Seal Sanctuary at Gweek, Goonhilly Earth and Satellite Station and The Ferry Boat Inn. Daphne du Maurier wrote her only romantic novel Frenchmans Creek about the River Helford, and who can blame her, the views really are beautiful. Glendurgan Gardens, run by the National Trust, hold a 176-year-old laurel maze and the 'Giants Stride' swing is very popular with children. St Anthony-in-Meneage holds a lovely little church primarily of medieval architecture. The Lizard Lighthouse is mainland Brittain's most southerly point and a truly majestic, especially if it is windy. Kynance cove is truly amazing in fine weather, Coverack, Cadgwith and Porthleven are also well worth a visit.
There is a large Asda on the outskirts of Penryn, a Sainsbury's in Falmouth and a very handy Co-op located in Boslowick Road, just a few minutes away.

Perfect stay in Chough Cottage
Reviewed on 21/07/2022We had a wonderful stay at Chough Cottage. Very clean with everything we needed. An ideal location, nicely tucked away in a quiet corner. Children had a fantastic time exploring the beautiful gardens and we cooled down in the plunge pool at the end of each day. Great location for walking to Maenporth beach and a short drive to other beautiful beaches.

Lovely quiet stay
Reviewed on 17/06/2022The cottage was well equipped and had everything needed for our stay. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and it was very clean and well maintained. Communication with the owner and Cornwalls Cottages beforehand was good and a lovely welcome pack was included. Convenient to on-site parking and local beaches, although you would need to drive to them unless you wanted a 40-minute walk through lovely countryside. It was a 3-minute drive to activities I was taking part in that week, so extremely convenient for my purpose. A quiet location, not overlooked at the back (due to facing onto the end wall of another property) but lovely small patio with views of some of the gardens on the holiday complex. I would definitely stay there again.

Improved second visit
Reviewed on 08/06/2022We stayed at the cottage last year and found it excellent but a little chilly in the evenings. The new heating is a big improvement and I cannot fault the property as an excellent base and a comfortable bolt-hole.

A couple's Easter Break
Reviewed on 28/04/2022We love Pendra Loweth and have stayed in various cottages here over many years. Chough Cottage was spotlessly clean with very recently fitted new windows and doors throughout and a modernised heating and hot water system compared with the other cottages we have stayed in at Pendra Loweth. The site itself and the gardens continue to be maintained to a very high standard. Chough Cottage doesn't have the best views of any garden as it does face side on to Hedgehog Cottage. We are very keen walkers and Pendra Loweth offers many walks from the doorstep or a short drive away. If you are a family interested in being on the beach most of the time then you will be driving out of Pendra Loweth each day as it is a brisk 1/2 hour walk to either of the 3 nearest beaches. Bar staff were friendly. Booking, arrival and departure were straightforward although I have to say the arrival time of not before 5:00 pm felt late; but then check in times getting later and later seems to be an unwelcome feature of the hospitality industry as a whole. Overall another very pleasant week's break in Falmouth.

A good place to come If you need to unwind
Reviewed on 26/08/2021The cottage was well equipped and had everything we needed for our stay. It was very clean and well maintained. The complex is very well landscaped with plants and flowers which creates peaceful surroundings. This is a really great place to come if you want to get away from it all. The complex was very quiet, and there was a clubhouse but it was closed most of our stay because of covid restrictions. The complex is about 5-10 minute drive from Falmouth and surrounding beaches. We didn't get round to walking to the beach as the roads are quite narrow and steep going into the complex . We loved going into Falmouth which has plenty of restaurants and the beautiful harbour, and the Swanpool beach . We really enjoyed our stay and would return to this part of Cornwall again.

We had a pleasant stay
Reviewed on 13/08/2021The cottage is located in a beautifully kept holiday village. The cottage had a good size living room and two bedrooms. The kitchen was equipped with all the necessary appliances, pots, pans, dishes and cleaning products. Even we could find a first aid kit and a torch. The towels were nice and thick, good quality. I've been traveling a lot and I must say I was very impressed with the cottage. I would definitively recommend it. 5 stars from me.

Excellent bolt hole
Reviewed on 17/06/2021We escaped for a week and found this lovely simple self-catering cottage. It had everything we needed as a couple and we used the second bedroom as overflow, which we needed as the weather was changeable so we brought lots of clothing options. Kitchen was well-equipped and everything very clean. We did find the cottage a little cold in the evenings as very little sun penetrates during the day, although the little patio catches the afternoon sun if you're barbequing. Small heater helped. We did venture up to the clubhouse for a drink and a meal but this was a rather limited experience in terms of menu (Covid-19 limited, to be fair).. Service reasonable but would imagine it gets very busy in school holidays. We found the location a little isolated as you need to drive everywhere unless very fit, but we would be happy to stay again.
