Bellot Holiday Cottage is a beautiful conversion of one of the stone outbuildings of an historic manor house located just outside the village of Mullion on Cornwall's spectacular Lizard Peninsula. It is one of just 3 exclusive properties on the estate that are holiday let. Much skill and energy has gone into the conversion of these buildings which are situated to the rear of the main house and have their own dedicated access and car parking area. This stylish conversion provides an attractive, well planned, practical living area with excellent modern kitchen and bathrooms, while at the same time taking care to preserve original features and character of the building. Bellot is just a lovely place to stay.

The cottage is located just a few minutes drive from Mullion where you can find a small selection of shops and places to eat. Poldu Cove is a little further and is a lovely sandy beach with a cafe and lifeguards during the season. It is also an excellent surf beach in the right conditions. About 15 minutes drive to the south is Kynance Cove with its turquoise waters and beautiful surroundings making it one of Cornwall's most photographed spots. The walking around here to Lizard Point and around to Cadgwith Cove is some of the best in the county.

Mullion is the largest village situated on the Lizard Peninsula and boasts a number of quality pubs, cafes and restaurants among it's various attractions. Four beaches - Mullion Cove, Poldhu Cove and Polhurrian Cove - are conveniently nearby and easy access to the South West Coastal Path offers visitors the chance to explore the beautiful surrounding scenery.

At the heart of the village stands a 13th century church, famous for it’s ornate woodwork decorating the end of the each pew and depicting scenes from the Old and New Testament. Outside in the water, two, thick sea walls, built in the late 19th century, protect the harbour from the worst of the wind. Local fisherman still work in the harbour to land fabulous fresh seafood, some of which is then served in the local pubs and restaurants.

The Lighthouse on the Lizard Peninsula is the most Southerly point in Great Britain, having stood since 1751 warning passing ships of the infamous 'Man O' War rocks'. The Lizard has so much to offer for such a remote location. Goonhilly Satellite Earth Station is the worlds largest satellite earth receiving station with over 60 communications dishes. Poldhu Cove, home of Marconi's first transatlantic radio message in 1901. The National Seal Sanctuary at Gweek moved to its current location in 1975 and is home to grey seals and common seals, as well as Californian and Patagonian sea lions. The sanctuary often rescue other marine life as well when demand requires.

Trebah Gardens at Mawnan Smith is a 25 acre sub tropical privately owned gardens set above the Helford River. Nearby Glendurgan Gardens boasting a recently refurbished 177 year old laurel maze, is now owned by the National Trust. For a fun-filled family day out why not visit The Flambards Experience, offering more rides, amusements and exhibitions than anywhere else in Cornwall. On the Helford River sits Frenchman's Creek where Daphne du Maurier spent her honeymoon dreaming of the Cornish villages that set the scene for her novels.

Helston was originally a thriving port until the river silted up over the years; where the river joins the sea is now Cornwall's largest freshwater lake. Helston is a busy market town with plenty of Victorian and Georgian architecture. The Monument is an impressive building at the end of Coinaghall Street which was built in 1834 in memory of Humphry Millet Grylls, whose actions kept open the local tin mine and saved 1200 jobs. Possibly one of the country's oldest privately owned brewery's can also be found in Coinaghall Street; The Blue Anchor was originally used as a rest house for monks and became a tavern in the 15th century. It now makes a strong local brew called Spingo.

Helston is probably best known for the 'furry' or floral dance which is held every May. Flora Day kicks off with the Hal-an-Tow where St George and St Michael slay the dragon and the devil, cheered on by the locals dressed in Elizabethan costumes. The main dancing starts at midday with participants dressed in ball gowns and top hats and tails.

Peaceful stay in beautiful surroundings.

When we arrived at the beautiful Bochym Manor site we found a large, clean and well furnished cottage. There was a great welcome pack of tea, coffee, biscuits and wine, as well as pretty vases of flowers in every room. The owners of the site are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. We could find no fault in the entire stay. We will definitely be returning.

Fabulous stay at Bellot cottage

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bellot cottage. It’s very well equipped with everything you could need for your stay with thoughtful extra touches (like a pint of milk on arrival - very welcome after an 8 hour drive from Yorkshire!). The location is fantastic - a peaceful secluded spot in the middle of beautiful Lizard peninsula, with some outdoor space to enjoy sunny evenings and peacocks to keep you company. Sarah was very welcoming and offered to show us around the estate. The cottage is immaculate - we couldn’t fault anything. Will definitely return. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

A Wonderful Holiday Cottage

My wife and I frequently stay in self catering accommodation (this is the 6th one this year), and Bellot Cottage is one of the best, if not the best. It is very well equipped, very spacious and comfortable. We love the area and the cottage is convenient for all parts of The Lizard and Cornwall. Sarah gave us a warm welcome, a very interesting tour of the Manor House, and was on hand to bid us farewell. We very much hope we can return next spring.

A wonderful holiday in a beautiful location.

We needed a few days of peace and quiet and Bochym Manor was the ideal location. The accommodation was immaculate and spacious and the hosts could not have been friendlier or more helpful. The location is peaceful but within easy distance of Helston and Mullion for shopping, with lovely beaches nearby. It was a perfect holiday.

Memorable first visit to the Lizard Peninsula

Our first visit to this part of Cornwall and what a lovely part of the world! Tastefully decorated and comfortable accommodation with all possible amenities provided in the Barn conversation. On arrival tea, coffee, biscuits and fresh flowers in every room was an unexpected surprise. The atmosphere of a Manor House setting with roaming peacocks and glorious countryside makes for a memorable stay. Location is close to towns, shops and the South West Coastal path meaning there is plenty to do and see. We stayed a week and have plans to book again to visit the other places we didn't have time to see this time. Sarah and Martin are very welcoming and friendly hosts and we very much look forward to visiting again.

Lovely Bellot Cottage

We knew as soon as we drove through the gates to Bochym Manor that this accommodation was going to be good. Bellot cottage was very clean, smart, well equipped & pretty. Only minor negative is that access from the car to the cottage is along a sloped gravel path which was fine apart from arrival & departure days. We settled in quickly & made friends with the locals...chickens & peacocks. Location is great for visiting so many picturesque places within easy reach. Sarah & Martin are perfect hosts, very welcoming & helpful. The history of Bochym Manor is interesting. So good, we wanted to stay longer.

Excellent location and superb accomodation

This was our second time staying at the cottage and I have to say it was better than our first stay. We have two children (4 & 7) and the space for them was superb. We found it to be extremely comfortable plenty of space indoors and outdoors. The location is only 5 mins drive from a large supermarket and only 8 mins from Helston the main town in the area. Flambards is on the doorstep and most places are between 20 and 50 mins away (traffic permitting).

A great place to stay on the Lizard Peninsular

Lovely welcome from owners. The decor, bathrooms, kitchen, overall ambiance and feeling of space are first class. I found the bed a little uncomfortable but that is often a personal thing. The local peacocks and peahens could also be a little noisy at times. The location requires you to use your car for most trips out, as walking locally to Mullion and the coast are not really practical. However in the car you are soon out on to the main road which connects you quickly to all the superb coastal scenery on the Lizard. Overall a great place to stay.

lovely stay in the countryside

Realy nice Welcome even on short Notice. I did not like the gravel leading from the gate to the cottage with my street motocycle. Everything else Perfect. We had flowers in our Rooms and a most friendly Welcome from the Hosts. Cookies, Milk, Coffee, Tea, Dish-Washing-Soap, Dish-Washing-Tabs for the Dish-Washer, Washing-Machine-Powder all needed things to start getting home where provided. Sheeps, Llamas, Chickens and Peacocks on the Ground :) It was a real nice 9 Day stay.
