This traditional cottage, next door to the iconic cliff top Church at St Gennys (don't worry no chimes!) offers a proper cottage holiday in Cornwall. Nothing can quite compare to staying so close to the coastal path (a 5 minute walk from the cottage) with majestic views made even more spectacular by the height of the cliffs in this part of Cornwall. There is also a footpath just yards from the cottage which takes you on a beautiful 15 minute walk down to the beach at Crackington Haven. If you prefer to drive to the beach, it takes just five minutes. The Owner, who lives nearby, organises nature conservation walks across the dramatic National Trust coastline surrounding the cottage.

This light, atmospheric cottage has a small garden with lawn to the rear with superb views of the sea and rugged, unspoilt cliffs to Widemouth Bay. Inside there is a lovely open plan sitting room / kitchen with traditional slate floor, wooden beamed ceiling, a large rug, lovely 3 piece suite and open fire. An oak staircase leads up to a spacious landing which has panoramic views over neighbouring farmland. Both bedrooms have fantastic views.

Accommodation
Ground Floor: Open plan sitting room / galley kitchen and dining area.
First Floor: Double bedroom, twin room and bathroom with bath and shower over bath. Please note due to the slope in the ceiling if you are over 6ft you may need to dip slightly in the shower.
Exterior: Small patio area to the front with picnic bench and table and two chairs. There is also an enclosed garden to rear for which two comfortable chairs can be provided on request.

Facilities & Services
Heating is via gas central heating and open fire. The kitchen is equipped with an electric oven & hob, kettle, toaster, fridge with separate freezer, microwave & washing machine / tumble drier. The sitting room has a Smart TV & DVD player. WiFi is available at the property. There is an iron and ironing board.

Miscellaneous
Electricity, heating & bed linen are all included but you will need to provide your own towels. There are parking facilities for up to 2
vehiclesStrictly only 1 well behaved dog over the age of 2 (NO PUPPIES) will be permitted at a small additional cost of £30 per week although please remember that you cannot leave dogs unattended in the cottage alone. Regrettably no smoking is allowed. There is a cot & high chair available.

The cottage is located less than a mile from Crackington Haven, which is included in the best surfing beaches in England and was recommended by the Marine Conservation Society in its Good Beach Guide. The scenery in the beach area of the surrounding majestic cliffs is almost unrivalled. At high tide, the beach is a mass of quartz-veined pebbles and large boulders but at low tide, it reveals an expanse of sand and many rock pools. Only the road separates the sea from a couple of beach shops, two superb beach cafes and a public house with a restaurant and fantastic terrace. The cottage is located in the parish of St. Gennys, which prides itself on the excellence of its public paths with the National Trust owning most of the cliff and adjacent farmland.

As you travel down the coastline, you can visit quaint coastal villages such as Boscastle, Tintagel and Port Isaac, the latter offering a range of fantastic restaurants where you can enjoy the freshest and most delicious fish.

Fifteen minutes up the coast is Bude, a popular tourist destination for both its surfing and fantastic family beaches in Widemouth Bay. The watchful eye of the RNLI lifeguards allows for some of the best surfing in the world alongside swimming and a whole host of water-based activities. Bude today is a lovely sea-side town, the main shopping streets and inter-connecting alleyways play host to a wide range of locally owned shops, restaurants and pubs. There are boutiques, shoes, arts & crafts, jewellery, hand-made gifts and souvenirs.

Six miles inland is Bodmin Moor, one of Cornwall's designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Cornwall at its wildest and rich in ancient history, Bodmin Moor stretches for 30 miles through the heart of the County of Cornwall and offers spectacular walking and horse riding.

With easy access to the both the A30 and the Atlantic Highway you can quickly travel up and down the South-West to enjoy some of the larger tourist attractions that Devon and Cornwall have to offer.

Guest from High Peak stayed for 7 nights.

Cosy cottage close to the sea

We enjoyed our stay at Barton Cottage tremendously. It provided us with an excellent base for local walks along the coast and touring the North Cornwall area in general. The owner of the property, who met us on our arrival, was polite, friendly and ready and willing to answer any questions we had regarding the property and the surrounding area.

An old cottage with bags of charm located in a quiet location

An old cottage with bags of charm located in a quiet location. There was lots of bird life around the cottage, it is only a short walk to the cliff top costal path and a couple of pubs (with good food) are just a short drive away..
