Property Location

St Mawes is one of the finest waterside villages in Cornwall. Situated overlooking an idyllic bay on the eastern side of the famous Falmouth Estuary, St Mawes has one of the mildest climates in Britain due to its proximity to the Gulf Stream. The sea is at the heart of the village and has helped to shape St Mawes from the little fishing village to the fashionable holiday destination that is so popular with visitors. A mecca for boating enthusiasts, St Mawes is a particularly popular sailing centre. Weekly club racing, village regattas and larger events are commonplace on the superb waters of the bay all through the summer.

St Mawes has so much to offer the visitor. St Mawes Castle was built by Henry VIII and is a splendid place to take in the views of the Carrick Roads. There are miles of coastal and countryside walks to take in and some idyllic beaches on which to relax and watch the world go by. The little Place Ferry takes visitors to explore St Anthony's Head or there are regular ferries to Falmouth. Being situated on the seafront, the village is also known for the restaurants and pubs that serve superb fish and shellfish dishes all year round.

There is a selection of pubs & hotels with restaurants (including the renowned Tresanton Hotel and the stylish Idle Rocks) all within easy walking distance. There is a range of shops all within a few minutes’ walk including a well-stocked Cooperative store, Post Office, chemist, butchers, and art, book and clothes shops. The village also has a doctor’s surgery and a dentist’s surgery.

We really enjoyed our stay there

We really enjoyed our stay at Barolo... the location was great and very central to access everything in St Mawes. The flat is very well laid out, with everything you need. Loo roll, milk, tea and coffee so u can have a cuppa after a long trip. The place has a really lovely feel and it has obviously had a lot of thought and care go into it. The bed was great.. we couldn't hear any neighbours which is always a bonus. We had a great week there. Also our weeks parking was paid for and a good bottle of wine was waiting in the fridge, also a lovely touch and bonus for us... We hope to return there again next year.

Second stay

Due to the fact that we stayed the second time at Barolo it is obvious that the place is very ok for us! Appartment is good, well equiped and the location is fabulous. Also, the landlord is providing a "parking ticket" for the car at the harbour. It's reachable within 3 Minutes.

A great place to stay

Barolo is in a great location and the inclusion of a parking permit was a real bonus. The accommodation was ideal for the two of us. It is well furnished with everything we needed. The welcome gifts of wine, milk and flowers was much appreciated. We would certainly stay there again if visiting St Mawes.

Lovely week at Barolo in March.

Beautiful area and the apartment was in a perfect position close to the quayside. The apartment was very comfortable and the parking permit was invaluable. Would visit again without hesitation

Excellent apartment in great location with private parking

I really enjoyed my stay at Barolo. It's very central, just behind the pier. The apartment was clean, comfortable and well looked after. Service from the owners was perfect, and the welcome bottle of wine was a nice gift. Best of all, Barolo comes with a parking permit for the pier, which is worth its weight in gold - there's almost a direct line from the car park to the front door.

A wonderful week at Barolo

We were very impressed with the comfort of the fact and it was very well equipped. Everything had been provided that we needed. (One thing that might be added would be a mirror in the bedroom.) The location of the flat was very handy as it was so near to the ferries, the shops and cafes and restaurants. We would recommend the Victory Inn for very good food with a friendly service and it is just over the road! The reserved parking on the quay was a real bonus and made life much easier. We really enjoyed exploring the Roseland peninsula and would certainly book the flat again. Thank you to Leslie for dropping in to see us after we had arrived, to make sure that all was well. The wine and milk in the fridge were a lovely surprise! We would definitely recommend the property to other holidaymakers. Thank you for all you did to make the holiday so special.

Great Stay

The apartment is good equiped, everything available what you need. Owners very friendly, we were welcome personally and get some helpful information the first day. Also, a bottle of wine was placed in the fridge and milk for the tea. Even the "tricky" parking situation in St. Mawes was no problem, in the apartment was a parking permit which could be placed in the car and we could park our vehicle at the harbour parking space for free. Looking forward to come back!!

perfect place to explore St Mawes

Lovely appartement with an excellent kitchen and shower. We stayed there with two adults and a 7 year old, which was not a problem. One of the sofa's turns into a relatively comfortable sofabed. The bed in the bedroom is not very big, so not so suitable for spacious sleepers. The location is great, just a few steps away from the harbour and the shops and cafe's. The free parking on the quay with the card from the owner is perfect. The owner is very nice and accomodating. The only things which would make it even better is some more plates and cutlery. All in all we'd enjoyed it and would love to return!

Comfortable flat in great location

Barolo is a very comfortable, clean and modern flat in a great location for exploring St Mawes and surrounding area. The flat is very well equipped and the owners are local so they respond quickly to anything that needs sorting out. Helpful to have the parking space at the harbour, no problems in finding a space. Nice welcome touch to have wine and milk in the fridge on arrival, also the co-op is open until 10pm every day. The sofa bed in the lounge was fine for one person, but I'm not sure how comfortable it would be for two. A couple of things that would improve the flat would be to have better blinds as the bedroom and living room were very light at night, especially with the window at the top of the front door which has no blind at all (there is a light opposite which shines directly into the flat all night), and the bedroom could do with having a mirror! Other than that, no complaints and we had a very enjoyable week.

Great stay at Barolo

Had a lovely stay at Barolo - fantastic location for all local pubs / restaurants / entertainment and ferry facilities. Apartment was spacious, clean and well equipped - only extra I would have liked would be a teapot! Hosts were really helpful and there was the added bonus of a parking permit for the quay. Thank you again for your hospitality. Sarah Baker

Quiet, comfortable location close to centre of beautiful St Mawes.

Spacious, comfortable apartment close to all amenities yet quiet location. Not much of a view from the apartment was the only drawback, but only 2 minute walk from beautiful St Mawes harbour where we could park without a problem.

Good and not so good

Comfort. We found the bed extremely hard. After three nights we had to go to Truro to buy a mattress topper to enable us to sleep. Apart from that we found the flat very comfortable. We were unable to use the basin in the bathroom for two days owing to the tap and plug being unusable, therefore we had to wash ( and shave) in the kitchen sink. Not very convenient. But the owners were very prompt at sorting out the plumbing problem. The heating was not working but we were quickly lent an electric fire. Apart from these matters the condition was excellent . I would recommend this property apart from the bed.

Lovely apartment in a great location

When we arrived at Barolo the apartment was immaculate. It provides all the amenities you need, we cooked most evenings in the apartment and wanted for nothing. The location is just off the harbour front and within very short walking distance to the shops and local pubs/restaurants. The owners were very helpful, we met a couple of days into our stay and although we didn't require anything they still wanted to make sure we had everything we needed. St Mawes is a short distance from several lovely beaches as well as seaside villages and towns. I would recommend this apartment for parties of 2, we also had our 2 year old with us and there was plenty of room.

Our stay at Barolo

Our stay at the Barolo for the 2 of us was just the tonic that we needed. The free parking on the harbour so close to the apartment was perfect, and the location idyllic. We just need to save up to book again!
