West Cornwall, most famous perhaps for Lands Ends, has many hidden treasures. The Minnack Theatre built by Rowena Cade in 1932, attracts many national touring performances throughout the more favourable months of the year. St Michaels Mount arguably the most photographed location of West Cornwall is accessible by causeway during low tides and a boat during higher tides. Porthcurno is home to the worlds largest cables station, housed in secret tunnels dug into the cliffs by cornish miners in WWII protecting 14 secure cables out of the UK to its allies. Mousehole produces the most amazing Christmas lights display throughout December. Newlyn Fish Market distributes the haul from the county's largest fishing fleet of more than 40 vessels.
Zennor holds tales of mermaids tempting unsuspecting young men into the sea. DH Lawrence raved about Zennor during the time he spent here with his wife during WWII. The 17 mile coast path between St Just and St Ives hold numerous untold treasures. On arrival in St Ives, The Tate Gallery and the Barbara Hepworth Museum are a must. The sculptures at the Hepworth museum will move those not normally into art. The rare Cornish Chough bird has a conservation centre at Paradie Park, where many exotic breeds of bird are bred. Godrevy Point ends the 3 mile stretch of Hayle's Golden Sands. Here the lighthouse is what inspired Virginia Wolfe's To The Lighthouse, set on an island away from the beach.
