Occupying a dramatic valley location with one of the most spectacular and beautiful beaches of the Atlantic Coast, Porthtowan has been drawing visitors for years to take advantage of its natural sun trap. A superb location for a holiday to Cornwall with a fine beach and close to good main roads means that you can easily explore the surrounding area on days that are not conducive to sitting on the beach. Porthtowan has one of Cornwall's finest surfing waves. Producing good waves at all states of the tide, the wave is particularly good in an easterly or south easterly when it really pumps with some lovely hollow barrels. It is not for the faint hearted and beginners should be careful. An excellent surf school operates from the beach. At low tide the beach stretches down to St Agnes Head and Chapel Porth Beach where you will find a lovely National Trust Cafe full of warming hot chocolate and fabulous views. From Porthtowan you are ideally located to reach the many beaches on the North Coast famous for attracting keen surfers and beginners alike.

Stay at Trevissick Farmhouse

On arrival we found the property to be exceptionally clean. Everything had been prepared with much attention to detail and the property was equipped with everything you could possibly need during your stay. The owners were very friendly and we had a great time.

Our first time in Trevissick Farmhouse and it certainly will not be our last. It exceeded all our expectations in space, comfort, cleanliness, equipment and a perfect peaceful location.

Fabulous farmhouse in great location

The farmhouse has to be the best accommodation that we have every stayed in. Spacious yet cosy and comfortable. It had everything we could possibly need. The kids and the dogs loved the under-floor heating. The rooms had quality furniture and soft furnishings and were very clean. It was lovely to be greeted with a home made chocolate cake and some bubbly. The location was also great - surrounded by green fields, the farm and a pretty garden but within a 10 minute walk to the beach. We enjoyed great walks along the cliffs to Chapel Porth and St Agnes and partook in several drinks in the Blue Bar on Porthtowan beach. Couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Lovely cottage and great customer service

The cottage was immaculately clean and had everything we needed. The dishwasher was faulty but the owners came and replaced it with another one the same day. My daughter left her jacket behind but again the owners were great and posted it back to her. This was our second visit to Trevissick Farmhouse and we'll certainly be going back again. The surrounding area is beautiful and we couldn't ask for a better place to stay.

Fantastic house and fantastic holiday

We had an extended family of 3 generations and a dog and there was so much space for all of us. Very comfortable. Very clean. Beautiful house. Great cake and a lovely bottle of Prosecco greeted us. The garden was loved by all of us, but especially our 2 year old granddaughter and our dog.

A very successful three-generation holiday

We wanted somewhere big enough for at least six of us and suitable to celebrate our Ruby Wedding anniversary and this house met all our expectations. The house is very well equipped and to a very high standard. It is very quiet and completely safe for the small children we had with us. Bedrooms are very comfortable and the little conservatory is a bonus for days when the weather is not so good. It was great to be so near to Porthtowan which had everything we needed and without the overcrowding or commercialism of other beachside towns and villages. The owners were very helpful and generous - it is so helpful to have them living close by.

A well appointed farmhouse in a great location.

The farmhouse was as described in the brochure and had been recently completed/re-furbished with excellent furniture and fittings. There are enough living rooms for 8 people to enjoy their own interests and with wifi, able to keep in touch with the outside world and check local events and weather conditions. It is handy for local beaches, the South West coastal Path, local buses, pubs and restaurants. A great base to explore Cornwall. We made extensive use of the barbecue although it was coal not gas. We found the owners pleasant and helpful.

An all too short break

We snatched a last minute few days with our two rehomed guide dogs. The house was everything it was described to be - and more. Everything was immaculate and very well equipped. We arrived very late and were exhausted from a long drive from Norfolk when we arrived and spent much of our time in the many nearby rocky coves people watching. It was very therapeutic - then to come back to a warm house in the evenings, supplemented by the two wood stoves which added warmth and atmosphere. We liked the home made cake and the welcome goodies - and had a friendly welcome from the Liz and her dog. The garden completely put us to shame! It was very well cared for - and it was a pleasure to sit on the decking listening to the occasional moo from the beautiful cows in the field next door. The dogs voted it their best holiday ever (but we did not have the heart to remind them that this was their FIRST holiday!).

Fabulous

As two families holidaying together, we couldn't have asked for more from Trevissick Farmhouse: there was plenty of space for the children to play in both the house and the fantastic enclosed garden; beautiful beaches and lovely walks nearby; the house was well equipped and spotlessly clean and we all loved saying hello to the cows in the adjoining fields. We would certainly recommend both the accommodation and Cornwalls Cottages and hope to visit again soon.

Our second visit

Our family has just enjoyed a second wonderful visit to Trevissick Farmhouse and it was every bit as good as our first. The highest standards of cleanliness, facilities and comfort have been more than adequately maintained. This truly excellent property is set in beautiful country surroundings and yet is a short walk and even shorter drive to access Porthtowan. The owners, Liz and Bob, know what they are about and know how to present a holiday property to the highest standard. We had everything we needed and would not hesitate to recommend Trevissick to anyone. We intend to return here for a further holiday in the future......... We love it and think you will too.

Review

The house was lovely and we had a nice stay despite the weather. My only negative comment is that the double bed in the purple room is extremely squeaky to the point that someone turning over can be heard loudly in the room next door. It was bad enough to drive us to sleep in other beds as it was disturbing sleep.

Excellent property in a beautiful location

Probably the best holiday rental we have stopped at. The accommodation is very well presented with everything that you need for a very pleasurable stay, including lovely welcome goodies . Location wise it was perfect for us with only a short drive to St Ives, Perranporth and Newquay. The farmhouse is located down a narrow private lane but not an issue at all because the lane was relevantly quiet when we were there (and I am sure this is not unusual). The boys were kept happy with lots of golf courses locally and the little boy we had in our party loved keeping his eye out for the occasional tractor in the farmyard. All in all a fantastic stay.

Overall the property was in super condition and was well equipped and had a good layout. Beds were very comfortable. Only two things to note. The main fan oven did not heat up over 150 degrees c so needs looking at and the microwave clock makes a strange and loud noise
