The delightful and charming village of Veryan on the Roseland Peninsula is most famous for its nineteenth century thatched Round Houses. There are five in all, two pairs of which stand at each end of the village and another in the centre. They were originally built by a missionary named Reverend Jeremiah Trist for his daughters. In a round house there are no corners where the devil can hide. A crucifix on the top of each one adds extra protection!
Veryan is ideally located for exploring the Roseland Peninsula and is only moments from the spectacular Carne Beach or the dramatic coastline around the historic fishing village of Portloe. Nearby is the lovingly restored Melinsey Mill where you can relax in a charming valley with a delicious Cornish cream tea.
Portloe is considered by many to be the jewel in the crown of the Roseland peninsula and one of the prettiest villages in Cornwall. Its steep sided valleys has meant that it has managed to escape development over the years and many buildings differ little from when they were built. Sir John Betjeman said of Portloe "One of the least spoiled and most impressive of Cornish fishing villages".
It is wonderfully quiet and peaceful, yet it has a really good local pub & hotel. The village itself is only a short drive from the other villages such as St Mawes. The city of Truro is also within a 25 minute drive.
The Lugger Hotel in Portloe with its excellent restaurant is only a short drive away and the Ship Inn is also a good place to eat in Portloe. The New Inn at Veryan serves food. There are shops at Veryan and a Londis store at Bessy Beneath. Further pubs, shops & restaurants are also available in Tregony, Ruan Lanihorne, Portscatho & St Mawes.

We had a wonderful week at Treverbyn Lodge. Tim and Heather are excellent hosts and gave us a warm welcome. They had lots of suggestions of places to visit and we enjoyed chatting to them everyday. The cottage had everything we needed for a relaxing break. It was well equipped, clean and comfortable. Veryan is a great location for exploring the Roseland and we had such good weather we didn't go very far. We enjoyed walking to Carne beach, visiting Portscatho, St Mawes and St Just. Great activities for the kids when the weather is good, on the beach, crabbing and on the one overcast day we went to the leisure pool at Falmouth and to the castle. Excellent holiday.
Guest from Pontyclun stayed for 7 nights.
Treverbyn is comfortable, well equipped and spotlessly clean. Just 5 minutes away from beautiful Portloe and Veryan has its own charms, too. It was everything we needed for a lovely holiday and the owners are friendly and caring - always on hand to make sure your stay is a good one.

Guest from Nr Romsey stayed for 9 nights.
This was our sixth or seventh visit to Veryan and the wonderful Carne beach but our first stay at Treverbyn Lodge, which we chose because they welcome dogs and we wanted to bring out Border Terrier on holiday too. Heather and Tim were there to meet us and had made sure there was milk, tea, coffee and biscuits for us when we arrived. The cottage was perfect for us, a family of three plus Scooby, our dog. The location of the cottage is perfect. It is a two minute stroll to the New Inn and the village stores and either a 15-20 minute stroll or a couple of minutes by car to Carne or Pendower beaches. Tim and Heather had lots of suggestions for places to visit and even though we know the area well they were able to tell us about some real hidden gems. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay. It was spotlessly clean and there was always lots of hot water for post beach showers. The garden is secure, which was important for us having Scooby with us, and has a picnic bench for eating outside. Tim and Heather just went that extra mile for us. For instance, the cottage had cling film and foil, a silly thing but it meant picnic sandwiches could be wrapped up nicely. All in all, with the incredible weather, fabulous hosts and great location it was a brilliant holiday.
Guest from St. Georges Du Vievre, stayed for 7 nights.
Home from home. Friendly people everywhere ready to help. Only things hat would have improved our stay would have been better weather which no-one can do and a larger garden clsed off for the dog and grandchild. Nevertheless we all had a lovely holiday, thank you.
Guest from Littlehampton stayed for 5 nights.
We arrived for a rest and spent all our time walking the coastal path with our new dog. Veryan was a perfect location for us - just five minutes drive/15 minutes walk from Pendower beach. The village with its 5 roundhouses, beautiful church, pub and little shop is gorgeous. The local beaches are completely unspoilt and we loved the Hidden Hut at Porthcurnick and had lunch there every day. Portscatho and St Mawes are very close and Falmouth can be easily reached by the King Harry ferry. Treverbyn Lodge is very well equipped and appointed and Tim and Heather the perfect hosts. We would love to go back.

We stayed in the bungalow in the grounds of Treverbyn House B&B.We were given a very warm welcome by Heather and Tim when we arrived. They were very obliging booking a table for us at the local pub for a meal on our first night. The food at the pub was very good as was the beer!!!The bungalow is very well equipped and comfortable with it's own private parking.Veryan is a very picturesque little village and is close to a secluded beach.Although Veryan is off the beaten track it is easy to visit places like St. Mawes, Falmouth, Charlestown,Truro,The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Mevagissy and many other lovely places. We would definitely love to return sometime in the near future. We had a lovely holiday. Many thanks to Heather and Tim
Guest from Rayne stayed for 14 nights.
As above one minute walk away from good Inn for meals and Village Store. Also near to Coast Path with transport provided! Everything that we needed provided, but for myself would rather have a dishwasher than a washing machine!
Guest from Moreton In Marsh stayed for 7 nights.
The village of Veryan, where the bungalow is located, was wonderful in that there was a pub within walking distance, great shop and beaches only a short walk or 5 minutes in the car. Swam in the warm waters of the sea, barbequed on the beach, helpful and friendly hosts right next door to help us with our every need, a top holiday! Couldn't have been better, never visited Cornwall before, but would definitely go back, very relaxing. Unspoilt area.
We're really pleased you had a great holiday, the Roseland Peninsula is such a fantastic place for family holidays. Glad you had a safe journey home, and look forward to keeping in touch. Kind regards Heather & Tim Blasdale
