Offering a warm welcome and affordable holiday, Chycarne is a traditional Cornish farm, built in the 17th century and situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty and the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site. South facing and set in six acres of grounds with truly magnificent panoramic views over the surrounding unspoilt countryside and beyond to Mounts Bay from the Lizard to Penzance. Nestling on the side of Tregonning Hill, Chycarne Farm is a unique and beautiful retreat from the rest of the world. Each season has something to offer here. Praa Sands in the South West of Cornwall is located between Helston and Penzance. The town contains many facilities including a shop, pub, post office and Praa Sands Gold Club. The nearest large supermarket is Morrisons towards Penzance. The extensive beach stretching from Rinsey Head to Hoe Point is extremely popular with the whole family, Prussia Cove, Perranuthnoe & Marazion are the nearest beaches, all within a few minutes drive. When the North Coast is 'blown out' you will find the surfers flock to Praa Sands for its powerful waves coming straight in from the Atlantic Ocean. Just inland from the beach is Pengersick Castle which dates back to the Bronze Age.
Nearby Helston is famous for its Floral Dance in May, a day when the whole town stops and dresses up for the days many dances through the streets. From Penzance you can take the Scillonian for a day trip to the picturesque Isles of Scilly, well worth a visit if you have never been. 10 minutes down the road lies Marazion famous for St Michaels Mount, home to a medieval castle and a working local community. St Michaels Mount is accessible by causeway at low tides, or by boat. The castle is leased from the National Trust by the St Aubyn family who reside at the property maintaining and working the grounds. Chycarne is only 1.5 miles from the beautiful beach and surf at Praa Sands and about the same distance from Rinsey's rocky cove (NT). Prussia Cove film set for 'Ladies in Lavender' and Godolphin House (NT) of 'Poldark' fame, are nearby. Four miles away is the market town of Helston, full of Cornish history and tradition, with it's Furry dance in early May. For children of all ages there is Flambards Theme Park next to Culdrose Air Base famous for many air sea rescue missions. There are sights to be seen around Goonhilly Earth station where the large dish Arthur is now a listed building. Try your hand at riding a 2 wheeled Segway. These together with the Seal Sanctuary at Gweek and the nearby coastal village of Porthleven provide any holidaymaker with a wealth of interesting visits. Only 7.5 miles away is the lively town of Penzance where trips to the Isles of Scilly can be taken by helicopter or ferry. St Ives is only 14 miles away on the north coast with its beautiful bays and artistic areas.
Chycarne is central for the areas and villages of the Lizard, Helford, Land's End and Mousehole. Facilities for golf, sailing, course and sea fishing are all available within two miles. You can take country and coastal walks or visit local country pubs for well priced meals or shop in the local super stores at Helston and Penzance. There are a wealth of gardens to explore. The mines at Lelant, Geevor, Bottalack and Poldark are a short drive away. The Minack Theatre and Porthcurno beach are well worth a visit. There are world famous art galleries at St Ives and Newlyn.

Unexpectedly my debit card was declined when booking, then I was asked to use a credit card but it was not made obvious nor apparent when doing so that I would be charged £6 for the privilege of doing so, I did complain by email but have not received even a courteous reply?

A very sweet cottage in a fabulous location. Quiet and peaceful with stunning views. It was great to have so much outside space to enjoy. Everything in the cottage worked perfectly and it was clean and tidy, but maybe some of the fixtures and fittings could be updated to freshen up the appearance?

We stayed at Chycarne farm several times about 30 years ago when the children were small . Still very recognisable . Its nicely tucked away from the main road and is a quiet location with views of the sea . We stayed in Tre it is quite small but has everything you need for two people to stay . If the weather is nice there are tables outside to sit at . Nice grounds .

Chycarne Farm is set high amongst lovely countryside with views over towards Penzance. The owners are very welcoming and helpful and our comfortable little one bedroom cottage, Tre, housed everything we needed for a 3-day break. Wifi and electricity were included and the grounds were immaculately kept. Very suitable place for a holiday away with your dog, too. Thanks, Chycarne, we would come again.

When using the cooker condensation built up in the kitchen area and the floor became treacherous. I slipped and damaged my hip which has still not properly healed. We bought a rug to put on the floor while we stayed there so that an accident did not reoccur. On several occasions when entering the cottage we noticed a smell which was apparently from the lounge carpet. On the whole the cottage was clean, comfortable and warm.

Lovely location with stunning views. Despite given an arrival/availability time there was nobody at the reception and had to ring a mobile number for somebody to arrive and give us a key to the cottage. The cottage was neat and tidy but smelt of damp which got into our clothes over the few days we stayed there! It's tiny inside to say compact is an understatement!!! Although we were given an arrival package of washing up liquid, cleaning cloths, etc there was no hand soap in the bathroom and no spare toilet rolls. This may not sound petty but it's just a nice touch, even guesthouses and hotels do this!! I think it was a little over priced for the three nights we stayed there given it was out of season and there is no adjustment in the price of pets if you are only staying for a couple of nights( they still charge a full weeks price ! )!! Guests beware of the set of slate steps leading to and from the car parking area these are so slippery when wet !!! The cottage was an ideal base for the business we had to carry out in the area, but we wouldn't use it to holiday in !

Cottage situé dans un lieu très apaisant, accueil chaleureux. Le site est particulièrement agréable, bien situé à proximité de Penzance et Helston. Le cottage est bien équipé, confortable, très cosy.

The accommodation was good clean and liveable with all of the amenities. The bedroom was small but would suffice for two large build people. Owners go out of their way to make this a pleasant stay, and we enjoyed the rest

This is the second time we have stayed in Tre Cottage. We particularly wanted to stay here again because of a few reasons. It is located in a beautiful, peaceful area overlooking pretty gardens and lovely views within the 'farm'. The cottage itself is compact, but just the right size for two people to enjoy their stay. We love the decor within the cottage as it is authentic, pretty and suits the style of the building. An excellent choice for a comfortable stay.

The location was fantastic. The Cottage itself was very compact, although very pretty, it smelt damp in the kitchen where all the dishes, saucepans, cutlery etc were kept. It looked very clean. The bedding on the bed had been freshly laundered, so fresh it was damp, so we spent an hour drying it, and making the bed back up. The bed itself was so old and uncomfortable it was as if we had been on a wrack and tortured, the chairs in the living room should have been thrown in the skip years ago. We bought a topper for the bed and two decent pillows, in order to get some sleep, but cut short our holiday by two days because we were so uncomfortable. Also the shower did not work properly, sometimes it was hot, sometimes it was cold, and the temperature was never constant, we had to keep on checking in case we got burnt. The toilet was very slow and very noisy when it filled up and it took a very long time to do so. We also had to be very careful when we plugged things in because the plug points were near the doorways, and could have caused a trip or fall, also we were very wary of using the cooker and the kettle was so positioned so close to it it the wire had trailed ontop of the cooker, it could present a fire hazard.
