You're as likely to find celebrities littering the banks of the Helford River as you are locals, as many have luxury homes in the area, such is the beauty of the place. Ranging from the spectacular scenery at the Lizard Lighthouse, taking in the gardens at Trebah and Glendurgan, past the National Maritime Museum and up the River Fal to Truro Cathedral, you will never want to stay anywhere else. From Britains most Southerly point The Lizard you can travel round to Penzance and St Michaels Mount at Marazion or the National Seal Sanctuary at Gweek at the top of the Helford RIver. Falmouth offers you boat trips across the River Fal to St Mawes so you can view both of Henry VIII's Castles, one at Pendennis and one in St Mawes guarding the mouth of the estuary. From St Mawes you could take another foot ferry towards St Anthony's Lighthouse where the British version of Fraggle Rock was filmed.

For the adventurous amongst you, you could cycle the Coast to Coast Trail, from Devoran up through mining country to Portreath on the North Coast along the old Mineral Tramway. Truro is rapidly becoming a centre for performing arts; the Hall for Cornwall hosts a wide range of spectacular shows throughout the year. The Royal Cornwall Museum, tucked away on River Street hosts many visiting exhibitions as well as having amassed a sizeable collection of its own. Most unexpectedly at the top of Lemon Street you can find the Lander Memorial erected in 1835 to commemorate local Lander brother discovering the source of the Nile.
