South East Cornwall is abundant with places to visit and sights to see. The most famous being The Eden Project, constructed in 2000 in a 160 year old ex-china clay pit in Bodelva, St Austell. To give you an idea of size, the Tower of London could fit into the Humid Tropic Biome and there is a slightly smaller Warm Temperate Biome as shown above. Equally The Lost Gardens of Heligan near Mevagissey is one of the most mysterious gardens in Cornwall, home to the Tremayne family for more than 400 years.
Further up the coast you have the gorgeous Fowey harbour, where you can try one of Sam's restaurants or a little drive inland to the historic Crown Inn at Lanlivery is well worth the effort. Inland you also have Lostwithiel, founded 800 years ago by the Normans for the export of tin, and the 13th century English Heritage site, Restormel Castle. Fowey hosts the annual Daphne Du Maurier Festival every May, depicting her life and works in the surrounding areas. Looe, once famous for its Pilchard Fisheries with it's narrow streets and Polperro, infamous for its smuggling efforts in the 18th and 19th centuries, are some of the prettiest villages on the South East Coast. Talland Bay has recently been championed by Richard Madeley who owns a holiday home next to the sea in the program All At Sea, and Chris Evans on his radio breakfast show.
