With this dramatic coastline and stunning countryside all round to explore, this really is a fantastic place to stay. The beautiful thatched cottage offers guests the opportunity to relax, whilst being located close to beaches and all the outdoor activities you would expect to enjoy from a holiday in Cornwall. This is a stunning thatched cottage, deceptively spacious with many character features including a double aspect wood burning stove, a large Aga and a particularly fantastic four poster bed in the master bedroom. A gorgeous peaceful retreat in the summer with great access to the beaches of the North coast or a cosy winter hideaway to snuggle up in front of a roaring log fire or the romantic four poster! The garden is well maintained and has a very private barbecue area with beautiful views across the valley.

Rooks is in Jacobstow which is 4 miles East of the atmospheric resort of Crackington Haven, which is included in the "best surfing beaches in England" and was recommended by the Marine Conservation Society in its Good Beach Guide. Wainhouse Corner is a short distance away where there is a shop, post office and pub. The scenery in the beach area of the surrounding majestic cliffs is almost unrivalled. At high tide, the beach is a mass of quartz-veined pebbles and large boulders but at low tide, it reveals an expanse of sand and many rock pools. Only the road separates the sea from a couple of beach shops, two superb beach cafes and a public house with a restaurant and fantastic terrace.

Jacobstow is a little Parish half a mile east of the A39 there are just a few houses surrounding a beautiful 15th century church. 6 miles to the south is Bodmin Moor with excellent remote walks over stunning, wild, scenery. Bodmin Moor is one of Cornwall's designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Cornwall at its wildest and rich in ancient history, Bodmin Moor stretches for 30 miles through the heart of the County of Cornwall and offers spectacular walking and horse riding.

As you travel down the coastline, you can visit quaint coastal villages such as Boscastle, Tintagel and Port Isaac, the latter offering a range of fantastic restaurants where you can enjoy the freshest and most delicious fish.

Fifteen minutes up the coast is Bude, a popular tourist destination for both its surfing and fantastic family beaches in Widemouth Bay. The watchful eye of the RNLI lifeguards allows for some of the best surfing in the world alongside swimming and a whole host of water-based activities. Bude today is a lovely sea-side town, the main shopping streets and inter-connecting alleyways play host to a wide range of locally owned shops, restaurants and pubs. There are boutiques, shops, arts & crafts, jewellery, hand-made gifts and souvenirs. With easy access to the both the A30 and the Atlantic Highway you can quickly travel up and down the South-West to enjoy some of the larger tourist attractions that Devon and Cornwall have to offer.

Beautiful thatched cottage

A WONDERFUL find hidden away in peaceful countryside at Jacobstowe. The thatched cottage was very imposing and set in a beautiful garden with lovely summer house overlooking fields and meadows. The house itself was very comfortable and had everything needed to make our stay enjoyable. The kitchen was extremely well equipped. Beds were very comfortable , bedding and towels all beautifully laundered. The log fire was lovely to sit alongside and made the lounge feel very cosy. We had a fantastic week here as a three generation family and the spaciousness gave us the opportunity to have time alone when we wanted. The children loved their bedroom and we enjoyed our splendid four poster bed and period bedroom. The cream tea provided was delicious and a lovely start to a wonderful stay.

An Amazing Place To Stay

Rooks is not a house it is a home - it is comfortable, clean and the best equipped holiday home we have ever stayed in. Julie, the owner, is helpful in every way and we were greeted with a lovely cream tea on arrival. The house is full of character with many quirky touches. It is spacious, warm and nothing to add to comfort has been overlooked. The garden and summer house are delightful and the location is peaceful with lovely views. The many bird feeders around the house and garden attract an amazing variety of birds which we loved. It is in a convenient spot for visiting many of Cornwall's attractions. The nearest eating place is about a mile away down narrow roads as is the nearest shop and petrol station but that is Cornwall and part of its charm.

Charming, wonderful house

Julie was a wonderful host, we felt at home in her lovely house right from the start. There is all you need available, we stayed with three kids and even on the less sunny days, we had a great time, watching the numerous birds during breakfast, sitting warm by the fireplace. It was a good location for day trips all around Cornwall.

Location Rooks

Very nice, old Location. We loved it, the living room and the garden. Perhaps improvements regarding the bath and toilet could be requested. In Addition to that we would recommend Adapters for electronical goods for European Tourists. Best regards Hans-Peter Mohr

A perfect holiday retreat

Our holiday in Cornwall this year was made all the more special by staying in Rooks Cottage, it is a beautiful characterful cottage surrounded by a wonderful garden. The interior of Rooks was immaculately clean and comfortable, every effort and attention to detail had been made by the owner Julie to make our stay an enjoyable one, we will recommend Rooks Cottage to family and friends and hope to return on our next Cornish holiday.

Loved it !

Lovely cottage with plenty of space and rooms. We were a family of 6 and found plenty of space. Kitchen was like a big farmhouse style with an Arga cooker.Everything throughout the house was provided which included a large BBQ and Chimaera in the garden. Wonderfull summerhouse at the bottom of the garden which was very relaxing to sit in. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay...

A lovey Family Christmas

we were looking for a traditional family Christmas and that is what we received. Lovely cottage, wood burning stove and aga! plenty of room for 5 adults and two children. great situation, lovely to look out of bedroom window in the morning and see the church spire Close to beaches and Bude for shopping, with Morrison, and lidl next to each other. Salisbury's a little poor due to size. The Wainhouse pub close by was great for a family meal one evening and they gave us a discount as we were staying local! No real downsides but would suggest some coat hooks near the door and somewhere to put shoes when you come in. Otherwise lovely cottage, great location and the owner was really helpful before and while we were visiting

A Perfect Retreat

Rooks is the perfect place to sit back, unwind and just enjoy! The cottage was large enough for 8 adults to roam around and you had everything available to use. Julie the owner makes you feel very welcome. You are very well situated to explore Cornwall and we even had a little drive into Devon. Would we stay again? ... that's a very loud YES!

Versatile accommodation

Rooks is a wonderful cottage and offers versatile accommodation with its 3 double bedrooms and a twin room. I was a bit disappointed that there was no toilet in the en-suite and also no shower curtain, to enable you to shower over the bath. There are however two separate toilets, one upstairs and one downstairs, to complement the family bathroom with its electric power shower over a bath, toilet and sink. There were 3 adults and 3 children in our party and we didn't really find it a problem. The position of the cottage was absolutely spot on. Surrounded by fields, and very very quiet, it provided a great base to travel around that area of Cornwall. Cracking Haven and Widemouth Bay are less than 15 minutes away by car
