With views across the lovely Cornish countryside, this new holiday home is on a stunning new development, just a few minutes drive to the golden sands and fantastic surf of the beaches at Portreath and Porthtowan. A stroll along country lanes will take you to the coast path across beautiful countryside. The Coast to Coast cycle trail follows the route of an old mining tramway and takes you south to the beautiful creek at Devoran - bicycle hire is available just a few minutes away at The Bike Barn. A perfect base for touring the whole of Cornwall and being so accessible to A30, the main arterial route through the county, means that many attractions such as St Michael's Mount and the Eden Project are just a short drive away. In the winter, this newly constructed property has modern insulation and central heating to keep things really toasty! This development has a real sense of space with all the cottages being detached and independent from each other, which provides such a feeling of quality. A really superb place to stay.

Portreath, situated on the North Cornwall coast, about 5 miles north of Redruth, was originally a small fishing village. Today it's a beautiful retreat with a narrow harbour, secluded sandy beaches and a stream running to the sea on one side. It is ideal for swimming, surfing and windsailing in watched by the local Surf and Life Saving Club. Portreath offers the pleasures of sea and countryside with beautiful views, spectacular cliffs and walking trails. Illogan Woods is adjacent to Portreath with lovely streams and a circular walk leading to the 14th century church tower of Illogan. There is also Tehidy Country Park just outside of Portreath with its adjoining golf-course. It is a beautiful country park comprised of 250 acres of woodland, lakes, bridleways, cycling and nature trails. There are several ponds and a lake with swans and various kinds of waterfowl. Occupying a dramatic valley location with one of the most spectacular and beautiful beaches of the Atlantic Coast, Porthtowan has been drawing visitors for years to take advantage of its natural sun trap. A superb location for a holiday to Cornwall with a fine beach and close to good main roads means that you can easily explore the surrounding area on days that are not conducive to sitting on the beach.

Porthtowan has one of Cornwall's finest surfing waves. Producing good waves at all states of the tide, the wave is particularly good in an easterly or south easterly when it really pumps with some lovely hollow barrels. It is not for the faint hearted and beginners should be careful. An excellent surf school operates from the beach. At low tide the beach stretches down to St Agnes Head and Chapel Porth Beach where you will find a lovely National Trust Cafe full of warming hot chocolate and fabulous views. From Porthtowan you are ideally located to reach the many beaches on the North Coast famous for attracting keen surfers and beginners alike.

Quality Modern Accommodation in Cornwall

Very clean, modern, nicely decorated, warm cottage. Terraced layout of other properties meant they didn't spoil your view and there is plenty of space between the various properties. Could do with some marker on the main road leading into the site as the arrival instructions can be a bit misleading. (Would also recommend to the owners that as the property is so nice they could do with some better quality chopping mats to protect the kitchen work surfaces as the ones we had were a bit flimsy.) Great location within easy drive to some lovely big beaches.

Some thoughts

On the whole very good, just some thoughts: map showing how to get there could be improved, (we ended up in Portreath!) and perhaps the big sign for the cottages could be put by the actual entrance (we turned right by this sign which was wrong). I know you have had problems with location of signs with local council but just a black arrow on the main road pointing up the hill to the entrance would be very useful. a few more pans/dishes/utensils for cooking would be good lower the wall mounted TV (even place on the coffee table) - get neck ache watching this as too high! could only leave messages on mobile no given walk to beach via tramway is not 20mins more like 45!

Rainbow at christmas

Bedrooms a bit cramped no drawer storage space , hanging shelves in wardrobe would help. Only one towel per person supplied extra towel for hair washing would be useful. Wi if kept going off , annoying. Television too high on wall for comfortable watching. Otherwise clean and reasonably equipped. Lovely area to get about from.

Last minute stay in cornwall

We had cancelled a trip abroad due to family illness and decided to book a last minute cottage, this was the only one available but we were so pleased. Spotlessly clean with lovely kitchen and bathrooms. We loved the spacious feeling of the site and the planting was beautiful, it was also very peaceful. We would not have chosen Portreath but it turned out to be a great place to stay with all of Cornwall feeling very accessible. If I was to be picky the bedrooms were on the small side and the twin bedroom was not big enough for my two teenage daughters. Not much storage though this could easily be improved by providing more coat hangers in the wardrobes. Very pleased with our choice though and would definitely recommend Rainbow Cottage.

Anne and family from gloucester

Had a really lovely weekend, the location and weather were both excellent. We feel a sign on the main road would be beneficial as the written instructions took us up the wrong right hand turn and it was only because we could see the cottages on the hillside that we found the right turn. The only real problem we had was the double bed in the ensuite bedroom was broken and every movement caused loud squeaks. This was reported to one of the cleaners when we left. I would defiantly reccomended these cottages and we have even discussed coming again next year!

Lovely cottage and great service

We had a lovely week stay in Rainbow. The cottage was lovely, very clean and the kitchen well equipped. The bedrooms were a little small, particularly as we had a baby staying in the master room with us. Luckily our travel cot was small enough to fit. Location was beautiful and the service was efficient and friendly. Many thanks

Fabulous cottage and location

We were all so impressed with the cottage and the site as a whole was beautiful. The cottage was impeccably clean with everything you could possibly need. The staff were so obliging, even raising the bed for my elderly father. Would have no hesitation in recommending this accommodation, especially for anyone with mobility problems.

Luxury accommodation at a very basic price.

The cottage was amazing - the layout, the interiors, the cleanliness and the comfort were all perfection. The site was also fabulous with south facing views, generous spacing between cottages and beautiful planting.

Review of stay at Rainbow from 14th - 21st September 2014

Our stay at Rainbow followed a week at Snapper and we only moved because Snapper was booked for our second week. Rainbow is a very well appointed comfortable holiday property with good quality fittings in each room. However, we did notice that the two double bedrooms were smaller than those in Snapper and so were a bit cosy when it came to moving around the bed and into the shower room. The cottage would benefit from the provision of a teapot and coffee jug. We will definitely consider staying here again.

Our week at Rainbow Cottage

Rainbow is a beautiful brand new cottage with all mod cons and good solid, quality furniture and furnishings, almost like a hotel with lots of fluffy white towels and soft furnishings. It is set in a quiet landscape with panoramic views of the nearby rolling hills and very close to beautiful Porthtowan and Portreath beaches.

This group of new built cottages were beautiful, modern and clean, with great facilities. Good WiFi, big telly and recliner sofas. Beautiful bathrooms. Very good location for access to A30 and coast roads for touring around. Local cute beach was lovely. The grounds were very quiet when we visited with spectacular views. Would go again

Rainbow Cottage

Lovely stay in pleasant surroundings but unfortunately the bedrooms are much too small for 4 adults. We found we could not move around and had nowhere to put anything down other than on the bed. No dressing table or bedroom chair, no hooks to hang the days clothes. Kitchen equipment has basic items missing. The style of the cottage was modern and clean and the lounge area very comfortable The T.V. is sited too high for comfortable viewing. Would stay in a larger cottage if we visit again
