Offering a warm welcome and affordable holiday, Chycarne is a traditional Cornish farm, built in the 17th century and situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty and the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site. South facing and set in six acres of grounds with truly magnificent panoramic views over the surrounding unspoilt countryside and beyond to Mounts Bay from the Lizard to Penzance. Nestling on the side of Tregonning Hill, Chycarne Farm is a unique and beautiful retreat from the rest of the world. Each season has something to offer here. Being so far south, the warm sun and mild climate produce sub-tropical vegetation. Wild flowers grow in profusion along the stone wall hedges in Spring and Summer. In the Autumn and Winter the heathers, gorse and bracken form a carpet of colour on the hillsides. Surrounded by peaceful gardens and paddocks, where you can sit and relax and enjoy the unique atmosphere and views.
Pol at Chycarne Farm is a ground floor, one bedroom cottage with country and garden views, situated on the end of a block of three. It is accessed from a gravel path up one step.

The views from around the site are dramatic. There is an enclosed dog walking field on site.

Praa Sands in the South West of Cornwall is located between Helston and Penzance. The town contains many facilities including a shop, pub, post office and Praa Sands Gold Club. The nearest large supermarket is Morrisons towards Penzance. The extensive beach stretching from Rinsey Head to Hoe Point is extremely popular with the whole family, Prussia Cove, Perranuthnoe & Marazion are the nearest beaches, all within a few minutes drive. When the North Coast is 'blown out' you will find the surfers flock to Praa Sands for its powerful waves coming straight in from the Atlantic Ocean. Just inland from the beach is Pengersick Castle which dates back to the Bronze Age. Nearby Helston is famous for its Floral Dance in May, a day when the whole town stops and dresses up for the days many dances through the streets. From Penzance you can take the Scillonian for a day trip to the picturesque Isles of Scilly, well worth a visit if you have never been. 10 minutes down the road lies Marazion famous for St Michaels Mount, home to a medieval castle and a working local community. St Michaels Mount is accessible by causeway at low tides, or by boat. The castle is leased from the National Trust by the St Aubyn family who reside at the property maintaining and working the grounds.
Chycarne is only 1.5 miles from the beautiful beach and surf at Praa Sands and about the same distance from Rinsey's rocky cove (NT). Prussia Cove film set for 'Ladies in Lavender' and Godolphin House (NT) of 'Poldark' fame, are nearby. Four miles away is the market town of Helston, full of Cornish history and tradition, with it's Furry dance in early May. For children of all ages there is Flambards Theme Park next to Culdrose Air Base famous for many air sea rescue missions. There are sights to be seen around Goonhilly Earth station where the large dish Arthur is now a listed building. Try your hand at riding a 2 wheeled Segway. These together with the Seal Sanctuary at Gweek and the nearby coastal village of Porthleven provide any holidaymaker with a wealth of interesting visits. Only 7.5 miles away is the lively town of Penzance where trips to the Isles of Scilly can be taken by helicopter or ferry. St Ives is only 14 miles away on the north coast with its beautiful bays and artistic areas.
Chycarne is central for the areas and villages of the Lizard, Helford, Land's End and Mousehole. Facilities for golf, sailing, course and sea fishing are all available within two miles. You can take country and coastal walks or visit local country pubs for well priced meals or shop in the local super stores at Helston and Penzance. There are a wealth of gardens to explore. The mines at Lelant, Geevor, Bottalack and Poldark are a short drive away. The Minack Theatre and Porthcurno beach are well worth a visit. There are world famous art galleries at St Ives and Newlyn.

We didn't have the best of weather but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, it was quiet and away from the bustling crowds. Saying that it was not far to the village shop and we had some excellent meals in a couple of local pubs. As we had our dogs with us we were pleased to have a field that was just for exercising the dogs, the dogs had to be on leads on the property which we were expecting the only little gripe was the person who was staying next door didn't keep her dogs on leads which led to a little scuffle now and again. The accommodation was good with everything you needed and the people were so helpful and willing to help. I recommend this accommodation for a compact cottage in The countryside.

Excellent accommodation in a peaceful location with amazing views. Handy for touring the bottom end of Cornwall, and having comfort and peace and quiet at the end of the day. The Dog was also made to feel welcome!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pol. Peaceful location with beautiful scenery. Excellent facilities for our dogs and cottage really comfortable. The only snag was finding dog friendly beaches or coves nearby.
Guest from Weston Super Mare stayed for 5 nights.
A very nice place to stay had everything you need but heating needs a little adjustment in bathroom and bedroom very friendly owners and great location
Guest from Obi Obi stayed for 4 nights.
We found the property cosy and tidy but as Australians we were disappointed to have to pay for towels which we don't carry when we are travelling (linen was provided in the way of sheets and unit self contained). We found the bedding without electric blankets cold during winter, the unit did have heating which did heat up the living area. The weather conditions being so damp we did find we needed to wash crockery before using it due to mildew and dampness on items. The hot water needed to be boosted for two hours before using. The proximity to local sights and attractions was great and the property is very peaceful and quiet it just needed some extra touches for guests, to be worthy of the cost.

Clean and tidy, a small cottage but fine for two people. A little dated but functional. Friendly and welcoming - good walking area for dogs. Close to dog friendly beaches

Guest from Southampton stayed for 7 nights.
We would definitely recommend staying here. It was in the perfect location for us, a short drive away from Praa Sands. It was also very good value for money and had everything you would need. Great that we were able to bring our dog and the field that he could use was great. We will stay here again!
Guest from Wimborne stayed for 3 nights.
Compact if maybe a little tight, but reasonable for the price, limited amount of crockery which meant no 5 course gourmet dinners, location was good, with plenty of good eating places, a good area to be based for coastal walking.
Guest from Dinas Powis stayed for 7 nights.
Had a lovely stay at chycarne farm. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Everything you could think you would need on a self catering holiday was available within the cottage. Beautiful setting surrounded by lovely countryside and some good walks. Central for majority of resorts especially marazion and st Michaels mount. Only downside is no restaurant or pub within walking distance. However, I would stay there again.
Guest from Leeds stayed for 7 nights.
We found the cottage to be very comfortable and surrounded by well kept gardens and seating areas. We were met by Pauline who was very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The nearest beach is Praa sands which was 1.5 miles away and the nearest pub was 1.2 miles from the cottage. We would recommend this location especially if you want a quiet relaxing holiday and like to go on walks.
Guest from Royal Wootton Bassett stayed for 7 nights.
found bedroom in pol much too small, couldn't walk round the bed without banging your knees , and paintwork in bedroom, would look much better, if painted a light shade.
Guest from Bedford stayed for 7 nights.
You are in easy reach of many places to visit, but we found difficulty in getting to some of the dog friendly beaches. The cottage is small but has everything you need and the only problem we found was that the easy chairs in the living space were not very comfortable.
