Perranporth, was once a tin mining village, set on the Atlantic Coast of Cornwall. Now famous for its wide sandy beaches attracting families and surfers through the busy summer months. Winston Graham wrote his first Poldark novel while living in the area.

‘Perranporth’ is Cornish for ‘St Piran’s Cove’. St Piran was the patron saint of Cornwall and it is believe the 17th century church buried under the sand at Perranzabuloe, was founded by the Saint. The church was unearth in the early twentieth century, then reburied in the 1980’s to protect its structure, although it is rumoured to make it accessible soon. An Iron Age hill camp is set towards the north east of the village, as well as a Millenium Sundial, telling true Cornish time 20 minutes ahead of GMT!
