Pendowr House is a detached house located within a short 5-10 minute walk of spectacular Watergate Bay with its golden sand, great surf, the Extreme Academy and Jamie Oliver's Fifteen Restaurant. Set in its own grounds this large house is perfect for large groups and families looking to be close to the attractions of the area. A discount is available during the winter months to small parties, all age groups are welcome at Pendowr and dogs are welcome at no extra charge.
Pendowr means 'Watersend' and this is the only detached house in its own grounds in Watergate Bay available for holiday rental.
It is a lovely 19th Century Victorian home with large rooms and a wonderful garden to be enjoyed by large groups or families.
The house nestles on the hill between the village of Tregurrian
and Watergate Bay.
The beach is only a short 5-10 minutes where you can enjoy a host of watersports and adventure activities.
There is also Jamie Oliver's famous Fifteen Restaurant and the Extreme Academy, both of which are located just above the beach.
The house will sleep up to 10 people in total and has large living rooms to accommodate groups.
There is a south west facing lounge with wood burning stove for chilly evenings, a dining room seating 10 people and a conservatory which enjoys the sun nearly all day.
The magical landscaped garden extends over 1.25 acres with 2 streams running through and is full of rare and unusual plants and flowers.

Facilities & Services
Heating is via oil fired central heating and the wood burning stove. The kitchen has a range of equipment. There is an electric oven and hob, an aga, microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge / freezer and dishwasher. There is a separate utility area with a washing machine & tumble drier. The sitting room area has a flatscreen digital TV & DVD player with Sky. There is WiFi available at the property and iPod Dock. There is an iron & ironing board.
Miscellaneous Electricity, heating, bed linen are all included but you will need to provide your own towels. There is 2 / 3 parking spaces off road and 8 spaces in the layby. Up to 3 well behaved dogs will be permitted at no extra charge. Regrettably no smoking is allowed. There is a cot & high chair available.
General Booking Information Arrival / Departure is normally a Sunday. Shortbreaks are available during quieter periods.
£400 pre-authorised to your credit or debit card as a security deposit is required.
A 20% discount is available for up to 4 people only booking outside the peak season.
Watergate Bay is a few miles to the north of Newquay, Cornwall's biggest resort town.
These days Newquay's excellent surfing waters are the town's main industry, where as it once used to be a major export port for counties mining efforts as well as a north coast port for pilchard fisheries. Fistral Beach holds many surfing competitions throughout the year, and also hosts Run to the Sun over May Bank holiday, a VW and Custom Car Show. Both the Womens and Mens Gig Championships are held here, as a balloon festival and surf and lifesaving events. Newquay Zoo now houses 130 different species in sub tropical gardens in the centre of the town.
Neighbouring Watergate Bay and The Extreme Academy offers you a 'ski resort on a beach' and a plethora of activities to keep even the most active occupied. Fifteen Cornwall, founded by Jamie Oliver in 2002 sits on top of the two mile beach at Watergate offering inspirational views for the young chefs and professionals to create fantastic menus from local and seasonal produce. The Lappa Valley Steam Railway just outside Newquay offers both the old and young an interesting day out. Newquay Airport has made the north coast one of the easiest places in Cornwall to get to, with regular flights from various locations across the UK. The town also has an Aquarium, a Waterworld and numerous immensely pretty beaches for the less active. Trerice run by the National Trust is 3 miles outside of the town is an Elizabethan Manor House and Garden with restricted winter opening times.
We had a great week at Pendowr – not a posh house but one where you could really feel at home. I loved the Aga! My boys all said they would could quite happily live there.

Finally we have found a wonderful house to stay in, at our favourite place, Watergate Bay.
Have had a fab week! Lazy mornings followed by long walks either on a beach or cliffs all topped off by a good nights sleep!!
