Located where the road runs out in the sleepy hamlet of Bohortha, this enchanting old fisherman's cottage is only a few minutes walk from Porthbeor Beach and has some stunning walks nearby. In the sleepy village of Bohortha, located high on a ridge on the St Anthony Headland lies the sleepy hamlet of Bohortha. Made up of a cluster of cottages & a farm, this is the perfect place to escape from reality and enjoy the true beauty of the idyllic Roseland Peninsula. Mizpah is located at the end of a row of fisherman's cottages accessed by a short footpath from where the road runs out. Enjoy glimpses of the sea in distant views from the first floor bedrooms, step out of your door onto stunning walks or escape with the kids to the remote beach at Porthbeor.
This is a traditional Cornish cottage which has been quietly upgraded by its loving Owners. It is full of character with a wonderful dining room boasting a lovely old cast iron range with brass fittings and a bread oven (sadly not in use!) and a flagstone floor. The cosy fireplace and electric central heating will keep you warm during the wild winter evenings and the lovely garden has plenty of space to enjoy during the summer.
Accommodation Ground Floor: Lounge with open fireplace, dining room, newly fitted kitchen, external WC with electric shower. First Floor: Master double bedroom with distant views, twin room, very small box room with a bunk bed (only suitable for young children) and a family bathroom. Exterior: Large grassed garden. There is a further lawn garden beyond with views to the sea. Teak garden table and chairs are provided together with a BBQ.
Facilities & Services Heating is via electric central heating and the open fire (coal only please) in the lounge. The kitchen was newly fitted in the Autumn of 2009 and includes a lovely limestone floor, fully fitted units, double electric oven & hob, microwave, fridge / freezer, dishwasher & washing machine. The lounge has a flat screen recording TV, DVD & CD player. There is a telephone available for emergency & incoming calls.
Miscellaneous Electricity, bed linen & towels are all included, but you will need to provide your own beach towels. Access to Mizpah is via the gardens of the adjoining property or a path to the rear. Parking is on the lane approx 50m from cottage. There is a trolley available for transporting luggage. Up to 2 well behaved dogs are welcome at a small additional cost of £20 per dog / per week. We regret no smoking is permitted. There is a cot available upon request.
General Booking Information Arrival / Departure is a Saturday. Short breaks are available during quieter periods. £100 security deposit is required to be pre-authorised on your card.
Portscatho and its neighbouring village of Gerrans are located on the eastern coast of the Roseland Peninsula, Cornwall, overlooking the dramatic Gerrans Bay. A truly peaceful waterside village, Portscatho is a lovely place for a holiday. There are miles of coastal and countryside footpaths to explore, particularly along St Anthony's Head. Portscatho was once a busy fishing harbour, but now it has become a haven for artists due to the striking light which is particularly good in the morning sun. More than anything, Portscatho is a relaxing place. The beaches such as Porthcurnick, Towan and Porthbeor are simply idyllic and these are only minutes from the village. With a superb local butchers shop, 2 great little pubs and a well stocked local store, Portscatho and Gerrans are a lovely place to spend a holiday.
Mizpah is about 8 minutes drive along the St Anthony Headland from Portscatho, in the little hamlet of Bohortha. Porthbeor Beach is a short walk away and the beaches at Towan and St Anthony are only a short drive away (about 1mile). Please do have a look at the location map for a more detailed idea of the position. The St Anthony Headland walks can be taken straight from the cottage. You can also walk to the Place Ferry landing stage where during the day you can catch the boat to St Mawes. In the evenings, there is a water taxi available (booking essential).
Just to say how much we loved our week in Mizpah Cottage, what a lovely place! We'll definitely go there again!

Thank you for a lovely holiday in Mizpah. We thoroughly enjoyed the cottage and the location and the enclosed garden was especially good for our dog. The rooms were light and airy and we particularly liked the old range in the dining room.
