The golden sands and rolling surf at Perranporth, Holywell Bay and Newquay are all within a 15 minute drive. Goonwinnow also has the superb advantage of being within a few minutes drive of the A30 dual carriageway, meaning that all kinds of attractions are within a short drive, including the Eden Project, Lanhydrock and even St Michael's Mount.

The Farm is just a brilliant place to stay having the benefit of extensive grounds, including a children's play area, farm animals for the kids to enjoy, a great games room, WC and even a Sauna! Mill House itself has a wonderful 8 person hot tub immediately outside!

Mill House is semi-detached and is a conversion of part of this original mill. Set out in reverse style, on the ground floor there are three bedrooms, a shower room and a bathroom. On the first floor there is a large open plan living area with lofted ceilings and exposed beams, a further bedroom and a shower room. From the first floor you can enjoy the views across the valley towards St Newlyn East.

A hot tub for 6 people and a communal sauna are also on site. There is also a games room with table tennis, table football and pool table.

Situated only a mile away from the village of Mitchell with its lovely 16th Century pub, called the Plume of Feathers in the main street. The pub retains many of its original features and serves locally sourced food either in the restaurant or sit outside in the leafy beer garden on a warm summers day.

These days Newquay's excellent surfing waters are the town's main industry, where as it once used to be a major export port for the counties mining efforts as well as a north coast port for pilchard fisheries. Fistral Beach holds many surfing competitions throughout the year, and also hosts Run to the Sun over May Bank holiday, a VW and Custom Car Show. Both the Womens and Mens Gig Championships are held here, as a balloon festival and surf and lifesaving events. Newquay Zoo now houses 130 different species in sub tropical gardens in the centre of the town. Two miles away is The Lappa Valley Steam Railway which, offers both the old and young an interesting day out. Newquay Airport has made the north coast one of the easiest places in Cornwall to get to, with regular flights from various locations across the UK. The town also has an Aquarium, a Waterworld and numerous immensely pretty beaches for the less active. Trerice run by the National Trust is 3 miles outside of the town is an Elizabethan Manor House and Garden with restricted winter opening times.

Just 5.5 miles north west is Holywell Bay, a little village on the North coast between Perranporth and Newquay. It has a beautiful beach with fantastic sand dunes and a little stream for paddling for those daunted by the waves. In the summer months the beach is patrolled by lifeguards and of course, surfing lessons are available for those keen on learning.

Guest from Warrington stayed for 7 nights.

Stunning location, lovely house, but not happy with some aspects off our stay

This is a fantastic cottage, we were greeted with prosecco, chocolates, tea and. Fresh milk which is great. The cottage sleeps 9 people, but the dining table only seats 8 (strange) The drinks glasses and mugs were a mish mash of odds and sods, and there weren't enough of them, we ended up using plastic picnic ones we had brought ourselves. The photographs on the website are a little misleading, the waterwheel never worked and the outdoor table was right next to the neighbours table, giving no privacy, and we were not happy as the people used the table to sit at and smoke. We moved our table onto the lawn ( as it is shown on the website) only to find it moved back when we had been out for the day. It is not made clear from the website that the games room is communal between all 4 cottages, although not a problem, it wasn't clear. Also the games room and our hot tub were not allowed to be used after 9pm, again, this should be made clear before booking. My main complaint was the noise early in the morning from a cage of macaws in the courtyard impersonating reversing beepers and wolf whistling every 2 minutes, and a clock on the roof chiming every 15 minutes, it could only have been worse if it had been Sue Pollard shouting 'morning campers' through a loud speaker system. When on holiday I want to wake up when it suits me, not by noise out of my control. The clock didn't chime through the night, so I presume it was something which was set by the owners, if for no other reason this noise would stop me booking again, which is a shame, I felt that they wanted us in bed early, and then up and out early in the morning

An amazing week

We have an amazing week at goonwinnow. The cottage was great and the farm had plenty of things to keep the children amused, including the games room with the boxes of toys we could borrow and visiting the donkeys. We would recommend to anyone.

Please note that this is a combined plan for both Mill House and Wheel House, both adjoining each other.
