Karadow & Skiber Cottages (combined sleeping 10) at Messack is one of the most peaceful locations on the Roseland Peninsula. Surrounded by beautiful National Trust land, this is an idyllic spot to stay, yet only a short drive from St Mawes or Portscatho. There are wonderful walks around Messack Point which has wonderful views across the Carrick Roads.
Messack Farm and its self catering cottages are in a spectacular location on the Roseland Peninsula being on a promontory between St Just Creek on one side and the safe sailing waters of the Carrick Roads on the other. The surrounding countryside is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A haven for walkers, bird watchers and country lovers.
The self catering cottages are well away from busy roads yet only 10 mins from St Mawes and Portscatho and beaches such as Pendower, Carne, Porthcurnick, St. Anthony and others. It is ideally positioned for visits to Eden, Heligan and many National Trust gardens and houses throughout Cornwall.
Karadow & Skiber Cottages are two lovely cottages at peaceful Messack Farm just outside St Just in Roseland on the beautiful Roseland Peninsula. Combined sleeping up to 10 people these spacious cottages offers excellent facilites in one of the most idyllic spots about 4 miles north of St Mawes.
Accommodation Karadow Cottage Ground Floor: Open plan kitchen & living room with cast iron gas stove. Off the entrance hall is a WC, wash basin & shower cubicle with electric power shower. First Floor: Master double bedroom, second double bedroom followed by a twin room. Family bathroom with over bath power shower. Exterior: Patio area with external furniture and garden at the rear. Skiber Ground Floor: Sitting room with cast iron wood burner effect stove. Kitchen & WC. First Floor: Master double bedroom, twin room, family bathroom with over bath power shower. Exterior: Patio area with external furniture.
Facilities & Services
Heating is via oil-fired central heating and gas fires. Both kitchens have a range of equipment. There is an electric oven and hob, a microwave, fridge / freezer & dishwasher. A separate utility room houses washing machines, tumble dryer, extra deep freeze & room for drying wet suits etc. There is Freeview digital TV with DVD / CD, VCR player & radio.
Miscellaneous
Electricity, heating, bed linen & towels are all included but you will need to provide your own beach towels. There is parking available for up to 2 cars on the private driveway. We regret no pets are allowed. The property is not available to groups of single, young people under 25 years. Regrettably no smoking is allowed.
General Booking Information Arrival / Departure is a Saturday. Short breaks are not available. £100 pre-authorised to your credit or debit card as a security deposit is required.
The village of St Just in Roseland is located about 2 miles north of St Mawes. A small village, it has a pretty creek and the quite delightful church and wonderful churchyard. No visit to the Roseland is complete without seeing this peaceful place. Probably the only sub tropical churchyard in the British Isles, it is a beautiful & tranquil place with some unique flora. The creek is home to a boatyard and not much else! Although the beaches are of shingle, you can reach some great sunbathing spots from here with some wonderful views over the water towards Mylor.
You can explore the D-Day embarkation points at Turnaware Bar (30 minute walk from Skiber & Karadow Cottages) and nearby recently renovated Smugglers Cottage, part of the Tregothnan Estate. It is also is one of the best spots in the area for a cream tea!! The walks around Messack Point on the north side of St Just in Roseland Creek offer some of the finest views across the Carrick Roads.
