This attractive stone built holiday cottage has been finished to a very good standard with great attention to detail and with a wonderful location from which to explore Cornwall with both the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan within a short drive. Pentewan is located just a few miles south of St Austell on the beautiful Cornish Riviera Coast. Dog friendly.
The village of Pentewan offers a restaurant, pub and shop, all within walking distance and the superb beach is a short stroll away. There are wonderful coastal and woodland walks close by with the fishing village of Mevagissey with its narrow streets and bustling harbour is just a short drive away. This is a garden lovers paradise as the famous Lost Gardens of Heligan are within a 5 minute drive and the magnificent Eden Project is within a few miles. There are also numerous National Trust properties in the area.
This stone cottage sleeps two people in a large antique oak bed and has all the modern essentials to provide that home from home feel. It is all tastefully decorated with an antique dressing table, comfortable leather sofa, armchair and bijou dining table for two.
Accommodation
Ground Floor: Open plan kitchen, dining & living room.
First Floor: Double bedroom (standard double bed) with en-suite bathroom and over bath shower.
Exterior: There is a small fenced patio area to the front with external furniture. The Owners have a large private garden for you to use within 200 yards with outside furniture and sea views.
Facilities & Services
Heating is via night storage heaters. The kitchen is equipped with an electric oven & hob, kettle, toaster, fridge / freezer, microwave and washing machine. In the living area there is a flatscreen digital TV & DVD player, CD & Radio. In the bedroom there is a flatscreen TV. There is an iron & ironing board available.
Miscellaneous
Electricity, heating, bed linen and towels are all included but you will need to provide your own beach towels. There are parking facilities for 1 vehicle. Up to one well behaved dog will be permitted at a small cost of £25 per week. Regrettable no smoking is allowed. There is a cot & high chair available.
General Booking Information Arrival / Departure is normally a Friday. Shortbreaks are available during quieter periods.
£100 pre-authorised to your credit or debit card as a security deposit is required.
Pentewan has a large sandy beach, excellent for swimming and all water sports - swimming, surfing, windsurfing, sea canoeing, water skiing and sailing.
Mevagissey is 2 miles away in a southerly direction. This attractive old town was once the centre of Cornwall's pilchard fishery and still boasts a working harbour. Fishing trips can be taken from the harbour and there is a ferry to the nearby port of Fowey. Many of the old buildings are constructed of cob and slate and the narrow streets have many gift shops, craft workshops, galleries and cafes. The World of Model Railways Exhibition has an impressive collection. At the end of June each year, Mevagissey celebrates Feast Week with local entertainment and dancing in the streets.
Why not try some local Cornish Wine at Polmassick Vineyard which is only a 10 minute drive away? The Estate has been producing wine since 1980 and the Winery is open for wine by the glass, vineyard tours and refreshments from end of May to end of September daily 11 am to 5 pm. There are bottled sales throughout the year.
Lovely cottage, perfect for us, just a pity we couldn't stay for longer.
