Honeysuckle Cottage is really something! It's peaceful location belies the fact it is just moments from the bustling centre of Wadebridge - so no need to drive to the shops, pubs or restaurants. Although the cottage has a light, contemporary feel it hasn't lost any of its original warmth or charm. From the stone walled courtyard to the front you step up into the charming stone porch. Hang your coats, take off your boots and open the latch and brace door into a lovely through living room. A stripped wooden floor greets you as does a fireplace at each end, a feature gas fire and the other, a woodburner. Great for those chilly nights! The double glazed sash windows with deep sills to the front are fitted with New England style shutters and really open up this light and airy space. The dining room leads off to the rear of the house and with its white painted tongue and groove ceiling and display alcove has a fresh yet traditional cottage feel. The bright yet cosy upstairs bedrooms just add to the warm, cosy feel throughout. Wadebridge is a thriving market town on the river Camel and is equal distance from the harbour town of Padstow and the water sports haven of Rock.

Accommodation
Ground Floor: Porch leading through into the sitting room. Dining room with compact, but modern fitted kitchen leading off to one side. Downstairs toilet. Access to rear courtyard through the dining room.
First Floor: Master double bedroom with 5' bed, twin bedroom (accessed via a couple of steps down), bunk bedroom with full size beds and family bathroom with over bath shower & WC.
Exterior: The enclosed courtyard with furniture is a real sun trap, great to unwind and bask in the summer sun! A double gate to the side really keeps this area private although you can also park your car if you want to.

Facilities & Services
Heating is via gas fired central heating. The kitchen is fully fitted with a range of units, electric oven, gas hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment. There is also a washing machine. The lounge area has a flatscreen digital Freeview TV & DVD player. Free WiFi is available at the property. There is an iron & ironing board.

Miscellaneous
Electricity, heating, bed linen and towels are all included but you will need to bring your own beach towels. Regrettably no smoking is allowed. Up to 2 well behaved dogs are permitted at the additional charge of £25 per dog, although please remember that you cannot leave dogs unattended in the cottage alone. There is off road parking for a (MID-SIZED) car in the courtyard at the rear, but please note that if you opt to do this, you will lose the rear courtyard external space. There is parking on the street as an alternative. There is a cot and high chair available.

General Booking Information
Arrival / Departure is normally a Friday.
Short breaks are available during the quieter months of the year.
£150 pre-authorised to your credit or debit card as a security deposit is required.
Discounts available for couples staying for 7 nights outside the peak season, using one room only.

Wadebridge was originally a market town. It has an amazing 15th century bridge with 17 arches over the River Camel, which is definitely worth a visit. It is said the bridge was built on wool as this was how the wealthy landowners in the area made their money. From the day the bridge was built the town became known as Wadebridge. Both Wadebridge and nearby Camelford are both centrally located in order to explore the nearby hills and moors. Wadebridge is an excellent place from which to discover the Camel Trail, a walk and cycle track following the old railway route from Bodmin to Padstow. There is wonderful scenery and plenty of wildlife, including fantastic sightings of wading birds to see on this serene trail and bikes can be hired from the start. From Padstow you could take a boat trip across the Camel Estuary to Rock, and lounge on the beautiful beach that stretches all the way around to Daymer Bay. The National Lobster Hatchery neighbours Rick Steins empire in Padstow.

The Royal Cornwall Show ground at Wadebridge hosts the county show every June, come rain or shine, opened each year by a member of the Royal Family. Cornish Farmers have had to diversify in recent years and so has the show, but they have kept their traditional roots with steam engines being shown next to the shiny new high-tech tractors. It's not every day you get to see formation JCB digger dancing in the main ring. The National Trust have three properties nearby, Lanhydrock House, Trerice and Carnewas and Bedruthan Steps.

Comfy cottage

Honeysuckle cottage was very tastefully renovated, warm and comfy. Fully equipped kitchen with all that we needed. Only a couple of things, The beds in the second bedroom was a bed with a trundle which was not very sturdy so could be a problem for a large adult. A washer dryer would be helpful for winter months if the weather is bad in order to dry towels. Lovely stay.

A lovely cottage

The cottage was beautiful and spotless. in a very central position. Would like to visit again. The only negative for a cottage for 6 people is a second tv in the bedroom would be useful. As we stayed with 3 generations not everyone wanted to watch the same programme.

Fabulous cottage in a central location

The cottage is incredibly well equipped, more than any other holiday cottage we have stayed in. On arrival, the house was very clean and the wine was much appreciated! Our two young boys thoroughly enjoyed being in the cottage and loved the quirkiness of it. The cottage is very well situated for the town centre. Just a 2 minute walk to the high street and only 5 minutes to the bridge. We also walked to the bike rental companies for The Camel Trail (thoroughly recommended) and a short drive takes you to the fabulous beaches on the north coast of Cornwall. Buses to Rock and Padstow (and beyond) are easy to get too. Parking wasn't a problem. In the welcome pack, the owners have provided a map with all the free parking and it is only a couple of minutes from the house. We had no problem parking and we stayed over the carnival weekend. We would definitely stay at Honeysuckle Cottage again.

Great holiday

We enjoyed the property which provided more than enough room for our party of 5. It would have been easier to have 1 bedroom downstairs for older or disabled people as feel there is sufficient room for this. The main stairs are quite steep as are the steps into bedroom with single beds. The layout could, in our opinion, be enhanced by using the rooms better. The bedroom with single beds needs a wardrobe as nowhere to hang clothes so had to share with other couple. There is no parking which was a pain as had to keep moving the car as majority of streets are none or restricted parking. Location was good for surrounding villages. Camel Trail was great and only 5 minutes from the house and we used most of the holiday.

Lovely cottage in wadebridge Cornwall. Ideal location to walk to shops, pubs ,Restuarants and other surrounding areas. Comfortable cottage with everything you need for your stay. Only downside is the parking , if you have a smart car you are ok but other than that there is no way you can park in the courtyard. Parking is restricted on the road outside of the cottage.

This cottage did not enhance our vacation.

The master bed was hard and no light blanket To use when the duvet was too much for warmer weather. Mold in the unvented bathroom. As well as the skylight in the master bedroom. Unappealing books many of which were unaccesable as well as the DVDs due to glass doors on the bookcase being blocked by the uncomfortable couch. Traveling from USA it would have been nice to have enough laundry soap for more than one load and for washing dishes so that we did not have to buy some. Off road parking for a small car was advertized. Yes IF the car was a smart car. You might get a parking spot on the road near the house but would probably have to move it befor 9:00. Often we had to hunt around the neiborhood for a parking of. Possative feedback. There was some coffee, tea and sugar.

Reply from Robert Orton

Dear Andrew, Thank you for taking the time to review Honeysuckle Cottage. We are sorry that you did not love the cottage as much as our other guests. Whilst we feel we offer an excellent cottage for a week of self catering in Cornwall, and have many repeat guests, I am sure fault could always be found with any accommodation if this was not the holiday intended for you. We do take all feedback on board and in reply to your comments I can answer the following: 1) Many guests have found the bed to be very comfortable and we have had a several enquiries about where it was from. As with all the furniture in the cottage it is of high quality with a handmade, designer fabric headboard, but of course not everyone loves every mattress. 2) The bathroom window does have a vent which can be opened. We ensure the cottage is cleaned and maintained to a high level on a weekly basis (other reviews confirm this). We constantly update and maintain the cottage to keep it in the best condition for rental. Should we find any mould rest assured we will deal with it immediately. 3) Last year we replaced the sofas and armchair for high quality leather ones which we have found to be comfortable. If the couch was blocking the glass cabinet we apologise for this, and further to your feedback have moved the DVD’s to a more accessible location. 4) Although the cottage is booked on a self catered basis we do provide a few items to get you going including complimentary toiletries, a bottle of wine, bath towels, toilet roll and a mini kitchen starter pack. 5) With regard to parking there is room for a small to medium car at the back of the cottage. Otherwise there is free on-street parking outside the cottage or any of the surrounding streets. Even during the busy periods a parking space can be found close by. Once again we apologise that this did not fulfil your expectations and wish you more success on future holidays. Kind regards, Robert

excellent in every way, more than met our expectation

Honeysuckle cottage was picked for it's location and suited our needs to visit local areas of interest and equally to be close to local amenities. We were more than pleased on arrival to find it situated in a very quiet location and the layout, furnishings, cleanliness were exemplarary, a credit well deserved to the owners and housekeeper.. . A couple of observations for future reference, a parasol.for the table in the courtyard to offer some shade for those moments when the sun shines. as it does get hot out there, also we found the front step from the road leading to the front door very high. We could not fault anything and would certainly recommend this as an ideal holiday cottage to all our friends..

Lovely week away

Honeysuckle Cottage is well located in Wadebridge, you can walk to all conveniences within the town and it is a great base for exploring the rest of Cornwall too. Wadebridge is away from the main tourist trail making it a relaxing place to stay. The cottage is light, modern yet homely as well as clean, well-equipped and high-quality. We really enjoyed our time here and would definitely stay at the cottage again if in the area.

Nice cottage in perfect location

Upside - lovely complimentary items, thank you. Towels were soft, beds were comfortable. Good supply of games etc just in case weather is bad (as it sometimes is in Cornwall!). House very clean. Location perfect for us as we have family in Wadebridge. Lots of storage space in bedrooms and in kitchen. Downside - parking is a little awkward but not a show stopper. No recycling bins/facilities. I took all our recycling to the local supermarket facilities. Minor quibbles - I don't like leather furniture but maybe that's just me. I prefer the main living area to be carpeted rather than just a hessian-type rug. Ground floor toilet flush works but is awkward. Washing machine does not include a tumble dryer which we could have done with as we had a few wet days (website states a washer/dryer is supplied but it is a washer only). Outside washing line needs one of those prop things.

Fantastic week in Cornwall

We had a great week in Cornwall which was made even better by the fantastic cottage we hired in Wadebridge. I could not recommend the cottage highly enough. There were 6 of us, 4 adults and two children aged 15 and 11 who shared the bunk beds. The beds were very comfortable and the cottage is situated a two minute walk from the town centre, but it was very quiet at night. The cottage is very well equiped with cutlery, plates, even tin foil and cling film, coffee and a few tea bags. There was even two bottles of wine left by the owners which was a very nice touch. The only downside, and it is a minor point, is that parking can be a bit of a pain at times. I had to drive round for a good 15 minutes one day looking for a space. You will be lucky to park outside the cottage, but at risk of repeating mysel, this is a very minor point in what was a fantastic week at a superb cottage.

Excellent base for visiting Cornwall

An immaculate cottage, well positioned and within walking distance to shops, pubs etc. An excellent base for sight-seeing around Cornwall and bike riding on the Camel Trail. Honeysuckle Cottage had all that the visitor requires to ensure a comfortable stay. We never managed to park outside the cottage but there is plenty of free parking available in the side streets. Just one small criticism - as the cottage is let for 6 people perhaps the seating arrangement could be changed to accommodate everyone?

Honeysuckle Cottage is ideally situated in the wonderful North Cornwall countryside with immediate access to the enchanting Camel Trail. The cosy feel of the cottage makes for such a an enjoyable break. We recommend using bike smart as they provide a brilliant service especially if you get a puncture in a remote location. We'd have like some logs to have been provided so we could have enjoyed the log burning stove but next time we'll remember to bring our own! Fantastic find!

This cottage is a real find. On entering we found it very homely and welcoming which was exactly what we needed given the late arrival time. The place was spotless, beautifully decorated with everything we could have wished for. There was even a bottle of wine as a welcome. We spent the week coming and going in the day but as it was so cosy ( a home from home) we didnt feel the need to go out in the evening (dvd, tv and wifi ). In this respect we once found the Indian Takeaway was only 2 mins walk away and the food was amazing. Everything was very closeby....shops, restaurants and cafes. As far as location, it couldnt have been better. We had a puppy with us so we knew we wouldnt be walking the whole Camel trail but there were lots of local walks and we had the car for a short drive to numerous beaches which pup loved. Parking wasnt a problem as there are plenty of little roads within 2mins walk form the cottage if we coulfnt get parked outside. I wouldnt hesitate to book this cottage again.

some information.

Everything was great. Can't wait to stay again. I was a little worried about all stipulations on contract as there were one or two minor things I reported to the contact on arrival as I didn't want charging for things I didn't do. I would suggest a stair Gate as my small dog kept wanting to go upstairs after us and they are not aloud. I would also suggest people with mobility problems would have difficulty getting in and out of the cottage as the step up to the door is very steep as Is the stairs in an old cottage. Everything Is provided and the wine was a lovely idea. As I said I personally will be staying there again. It should be made clear before booking about the parking as I could see no parking specifications and was a little shocked as parking outside the cottage is only over night but we did find alternative free parking along front of next building.

Reply from Robert Orton

Many thanks for taking the time to review Honeysuckle. We are always looking at ways to improve the cottage for future guests. We do appreciate the stairs are slightly steeper than usual due to the character of an older cottage. All the parking along the street is free. Some is restricted but there is plenty which is unrestricted, and we have never found it to be a problem. There is also parking for a small car in the back yard. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay at Honeysuckle and great to hear you will be returning to the cottage in the future.

Overall the property was lovely, plenty of room, well decorated, very clean on arrival and linen changed every week, the beds where of a good quality, equipment was as stated and all in good working order, one of the best cottage we have rented to date. One thing for concideration, I took my bike as I am a keen rider as used the exelant camel trail but there was nowhere safe to leave it, there was no lock on the rear garden gate nor a covered space, what about freeing up some of the room in your shed for bikes and this may be another simple added attraction to any future bookings!?

We spent a very enjoyable Easter weekend in the cottage. It is spacious, comfortable and well decorated. The landlord provided almost everything we need in the kitchen and other rooms as a holiday home. We had to call Belinda (the managing lady) with regards to how to start the heating and she was really warm and very helpful. The only thing we thought could be even better is that there isn't a ceiling light in the dining room.

A superb stylish cottage

We stayed at Honeysuckle Cottage and thought it was an incredibly comfortable and clean property. The cottage is stylishly decorated and has lots of personal touches which makes it feel very homely. We loved the location as it was a very very short walk to the shops of Wadebridge. ( 1 minute) ! Our only small criticism was shame there wasn't a hairdryer as most properties of this calibre do provide this. We would also have liked to have recycling bins for bottles and plastics etc . We thoroughly enjoyed our stay In this cottage and it was value for money .Easy to park and so we didn't need to use the courtyard . The garden is small but we were not realty bothered about this . We would definitely return again .

Honeysuckle cottage

The directions were good we had no trouble finding it. Once we found the key press we were very impressed with the cottage and it's furnishings. It took the whole evening on arrival to get the cottage warm, it might be a good idea if the person who looks after it turns the heat on at this time of year, prior to the guests arrival. The towels were a bit on the thin side. Looking at the welcome book there was nice comment from the owners concerning enjoying the welcome bottle of wine and bath products. However we failed to find the wine! The only other thing of note was we were asked to ensure that we emptied the dustbin before departure, however the rubbish from the previous occupants was still in it! We would recommend the cottage as a great facility right in the heart of the town and close to all amenities.

A fabulous cottage in a great location

Honeysuckle cottage is quite simply a little gem. Beautifully furnished, with a lovely little courtyard / suntrap. Great location for a family holiday, with the camel trail right on the doorstep. I'm sure we will be back!

A cottage in a central position

Honeysuckle cottage is in a very central location close to all amenities. It is a two minute walk from the town centre with a variety of small shops and a cinema. The Molesworth Hotel/Pub is located in the high street and is excellent for food, they also allow dogs. The cottage has been very tastefully decorated and is warm and comfortable with everything you need. The owners also allow dogs which was a plus for us. The furniture is white so I would advise anyone taking a dog to pack a throw or two! The garden area and car port is quite small and accessed from the side of the cottage but it takes a small to medium car quite adequately. I would highly recommend this lovely cottage to anyone who likes to have all amenities to hand.

Many thanks for the feedback and positive comments about Honeysuckle Cottage. The white sofas have now been replaced with new black leather sofas. We feel this is an improvement to the cottage as well as being more dog friendly.

Honeysuckle cottage wadebridge

Very central cottage for visiting cornwalls attractions, also just a couple of minutes walk to the town of wadebridge with all it's amenities. The cottage was spacious, warm and comfortable and very tastefully decorated. The cottage also accepts dogs. One small negative was the absence of a bath mat, we found it very slippery when showering, we ended up buying a bath mat to make it safer, but on the whole every attention to detail was made. There is room for one small car only but there is odd spaces for parking in surrounding roads if required. We found the Molesworth Arms Hotel in the high street, just a minutes walk from the cottage did excellent food. Also there is a Chinese takeaway and a fish and chip shop in walking distance of the cottage. For those that like to put the car away in the evening and eat out it is an ideal location.

Spacious and tasteful cottage

The cottage was way better than we expected, and the outside photo doesn't give an idea how spacious and beautifully done it is inside. Everything you could need was provided, especially in the kitchen, and spotlessly clean.
