Ermintrude Cottage has been skilfully converted by the Owners from an old farm building into a beautiful 2 bedroom holiday home and is new to the market for 2015. The attention to detail at this lovely holiday cottage is outstanding and you will feel straight at home in this relaxing and peaceful location. The cottage has the benefit of a good sized kitchen with a comfortable sitting area and also the addition of a separate living room. The property is easily accessed from the parking area and with the exception of the small second floor attic bedroom, is all on one level and so can be particularly enjoyed by those who do not enjoy steps or steep inclines. The cottage is also very dog friendly with a great enclosed garden and some fabulous dog walking country nearby.

The location in St Ewe is just ideal for those looking to visit the Lost Gardens of Heligan, Mevagissey, the Roseland Peninsula or the Eden Project, which is just a short drive away in St Austell. The nearby coastline is stunning and the coastal footpath around the Dodman Point in particular is spectacular. There are also some delightful beaches nearby including Pentewan, Gorran Haven and Porthluney Cove near Caerhays Castle. Lobbs Farm Shop at Heligan also provides excellent local produce.

Accommodation
Ground Floor: Entrance through to lobby with entrance to kitchen / living room. Separate entrance from lobby through to day room with lovely comfortable furniture and is a great spot to sit and enjoy the view onto the garden. One of the sofas converts into a sofa bed. Master bedroom, luxuriously appointed with a super 6' zip & link bed that can be split into two single beds upon request, with an en-suite bathroom with bath and handheld shower attachment. Followed by a family shower room with WC.
First Floor: A small twin bedroom, converted from the attic space, is accessed via the stairs and has quite restrictive headroom. It is absolutely ideal for children, slightly cosy for adults, but not uncomfortable. It can be made as a double or twin room on request.
Exterior: An enclosed garden with external furniture and a built in space for disposable BBQs.

Facilities & Services
Heating is via central heating throughout. The kitchen has a range of equipment. There is an electric oven & hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge with an ice box, slimline dishwasher & washer / drier. If freezer space is required please request this through the Owner. The sitting room has a flat screen, digital Freeview TV & DVD player & iPod dock. WiFi is available at the property. There is an iron & ironing board.

Miscellaneous
Electricity, heating, bed linen and towels are all included. Up to 2 well behaved dogs will be permitted at the small additional cost of £30 per week / per dog, but please remember that dogs cannot be left unattended at the property alone. There are parking facilities for up to 2 vehicles off road to the front. Regrettably no smoking is allowed. There is a cot & high chair available.

General Booking Information

Shortbreaks are available during quieter periods.
£200 pre-authorised to your credit / debit card as a security deposit is required.
Discounts available for couples staying for 7 nights outside peak season, using one room only.

The village of St Ewe is situated approximately 5 miles south west of St Austell. There is a very good pub called the Crown Inn which serves food.

Mevagissey is a wonderful little Cornish fishing village in South East Cornwall. Ideally located within easy reach of both The Lost Gardens of Heligan, which is one mile away and the Eden Project. The tiny seaside village is packed with old Cornish cottages complete with narrow alleyways leading to converted fish cellars offering gift shops, galleries, pubs and cafes. Once a major Pilchard port, now the harbour boasts a smaller fleet, many of which provide sea tours, or boat trips to Fowey situated further up the South coast. The Harbour provides an ideal back drop for a fish and chip supper, followed by a stroll through the town at dusk.

Just a few minutes down the road are The Lost Gardens of Heligan and 30 minutes to the Eden Project, Mevagissey provides a excellent location for the keen gardener. Gorran Haven nearby offers an alternative day out as well as Pentewan with its fresh water dock basin. You can continue south along the coast down to Caerhays Castle and Porthluney Cove. Cliff walks in all directions along the coast offer spectacular views out across the St Austell Bay.

Once a market town St Austell is the central location for visiting the South East of Cornwall. With large attractions such as the Eden Project on the outskirts of St Austell and Charlestown it offers a number of places to visit. The coastal town of Fowey is a simple 30 minutes drive past the China Clay port of Par, offering fabulous restaurants, galleries and gift shops. A short car ferry across the river takes you on to Polruan. Daphne du Maurier spent her later years in properties in and around Fowey, a festival of her works takes place each May.

St Austell was once the major producer of the worlds China Clay, now with cheaper foreign imports the industry is in decline but The Wheal Martyn China Clay Museum set in two former working pits depicts the countryside in years gone by. Wet weather activities could include the visitor centre at St Austell Brewery, sampling beers and ales made on the premises. The brewery has recently started exporting their products across the Tamar River to England, so you may just find where your favourite brew is made.

The Roseland Peninsula is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and forms one of the finest sections of Cornwall's South Coast. From Mevagissey to St Mawes and bordered by the Fal Estuary to the west, the Roseland Peninsula has been drawing visitors for years with its splendid coastline, unique gardens, historic villages and superb sailing waters. A truly magnificent part of Cornwall, the Roseland Peninsula is a wonderful place to visit. St Mawes Castle, built by Henry VIII in the 16th century sits on Castle Point at the mouth of the River Fal. At the top of St Mawes, Lamorran Gardens house a wonderful collection of tropical plants with lovely views down into the Harbour. St Just-in-Roseland has arguably the most photographed church in Cornwall. The 13th century church sits quietly tucked away on the edge of the creek. The Veryan Roundhouses are a must see, on the way to Nare Head, where you will find the most spectacular views of Gerrans Bay. The little village of Portloe nestles in lovely valley and is one of Cornwall's quintessential spots. Portscatho has a number of art galleries and many artists find the light in this harbour village inspires much of their work. The Roseland Inn at Philleigh is a 16th century pub just waiting for you to visit. The most popular thing to do though on the Roseland is simply to walk and enjoy some of Cornwall's most beautiful coastline.

A Wonderful Home-From-Home

Ermintrude Cottage is undoubtedly the best dog friendly accommodation we have stayed in. High quality and well equipped property offering home from home comforts (including a lovely welcome basket of food goodies on arrival); the perfect place to unwind as well as being a great base to explore Cornwall's beautiful southern coastline. We loved our stay so much we really didn't want to leave!

Magic at Ermintrude barn

What a lovely place to stay . A modern conversion in very clean cut décor, We loved it. An excellent central place to stay to tour Cornwall. The welcome pack included lots of goodies and brownies out of this world! The owners greet you and then you are left totally alone to enjoy your holiday but are there if you need advice or help. Very comfortable beds and a nice little loft space for the smaller people who will feel they are on and adventure going up the stairs!! When you approach the property it is best to reverse in to the drive which is quite narrow but we managed in a Corsa. Otherwise you are reversing out of the drive onto a bend in the road. We would return as it was a great break and if you have dogs the garden seems to be very secure once the gates are closed.

This cottage is lovely, comfortable and well equipped. It is in a peaceful village not far from the coast and many other attractions in this part of Cornwall. It was ideal with the dog to have an enclosed garden. Definitely recommend this cottage and hope we can get back there soon for another visit

We thouroughly enjoyed our week in Ermintrude Cottage & having lovely weather was a bonus! It's so homely with everything you can possibly need for your stay, & has been furnished beautifully. The now 'legendary' homemade brownies & bread provided (along with other goodies) in a welcome basket is very thoughtful & welcoming. Excellent area to explore many places from, & a lovely pub just down the road. Perfect in every way & hopefully we will be returning in the future.

Another great Cornish find ....

We loved the house which was clean, modern and very comfortable. It is in a great location and is close to beaches with lots of places to visit. We love Cornwall and have been visiting different areas for the past 3 years but so far this has been our favourite rental of all. Kitchen has all the equipment you need should you decide to stay in, the lounge area is wonderful to sit and relax, bedrooms are lovely with really comfy beds. When we arrived there was a wonderful box of homemade goodies waiting for us which was such a lovely thought and all gone by the end of the evening! This was our first holiday with our puppy and she loved it. Cornwall is dog heaven so we all really enjoyed being able to go to the beach, shop, eat - do most things with her and the kids. Would definitely recommend Ermintrude Cottage to all and look forward to returning soon. Thank you Mel and Jeremy for making our holiday so special.

Lovely place to get away from it all.

The cottage itself is very tastefully decorated. A lovely well equipped kitchen, with a pub within walking distance, if you don't want to use it! It is in a very quiet position. Only two of us stayed at the cottage so I can't say what it would be like with children. It is situated perfectly for the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan. Lots of interesting places within driving distance, like St Mawes and Falmouth via the Harry Ferry. If the weather is good, the cottage has an enclosed garden perfect for children and for having dinner alfresco.

Cosy, modern and fresh

Ermintrude is a cosy, clean, modern and well-equipped cottage, with a secure garden for our dog. The conversion from a barn is of a very high standard and, being less than two years old, the decor still has a very fresh feel to it. On arrival, we were given generous supplies of essential foods, including home-made bread and delicious brownies. The owner, Jeremy, lives in the adjacent house but, after his warm welcome he allowed us to enjoy our holiday on our own, without intrusion. St Ewe is a quiet village, but has a pub, places to walk the dog and is well-located for public gardens, beaches and some excellent places to eat. Despite mediocre weather for May, we really enjoyed our stay at Ermintrude and would heartily recommend it. Barbara and Alan East Devon

We had a really lovely 5 nights and so wished we had booked for longer. We took our dog Charlie with us and the cottage was excellent for him too, the enclosed garden was excellent for dogs, we found a beautiful beach close by where Charlie had his first beach experience, all in all a wonderful break in wonderful surroundings, the only down side it wasn't long enough. We would, without any hesitation recommend this cottage.

The house overlooked the fully enclosed garden from every room making it perfect for families with dogs & children. Stylish yet homely, the perfect retreat.

This cottage is without a doubt the perfect place to stay in Cornwall. Regular visitors of the area as it is a really relaxing, beautiful place. Simply idyllic. The thoughtful touches the owners put in place such as a lovely welcome pack of fresh bread, butter, cheese and mouth-watering chocolate cake made us feel so welcome after a long journey and the luxurious soaps in the bathrooms (which I need to find out the name of so I can get some). You instantly relax as it is so homely. It was easy to shake of the pressures of city life and kick back and enjoy the rest. There is a local farm shop attached to the Lost Gardens of Helligan which has lovely food if you want to cook and stay in. There are lovely places to eat locally too, pub up the road was really welcoming. We took the dog who enjoyed a day out with local dog walker/trainer 4petspawcare so even he had a day of fun out making new friends to play on the beach with. It really was a wonderful week away. Thanks so much Jeremy and Mel for your hospitality. We will definitely be booking again.

Half term at Ermintrude House

Ermintrude cottage has just become available and we were the first ones to stay at this beautiful conversion. The cottage is a brand new barn conversion and it is immaculate and fully furnished with all the household items needed for a great stay, including an enclosed and very private garden for us and our little old dog. In addition to all the carefully thought out features and comforts there is a small mezzanine bedroom where our 3 and 5 year old grandsons stayed for one night - and they loved it! It is just the right size for two boys. The cottage is also close to the local pub, 4 miles from the beach and a half mile from the Lost Gardens of Heligan. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back.
