Chacewater is situated in a valley not far from Cornwall's capital Truro. Its name probably originates from the Breton 'chace' for hunting as the area was originally hunting ground for early kings of Cornwall. The village now boasts three pubs and some bright, elegant building. The city of Truro is only about a 10 minute drive to the east and has a wide selection of good shopping including a Tescos, Sainsburys, Marks & Spencer and many other high street outlets. There is also a cinema and a great selection of restaurants, pubs & cafes. The resort of Newquay is about 12 miles to the north with its spectacular surf beaches at Fistral & Watergate Bay. Jamie Oliver's "Fifteen" restaurant is located here. Padstow, with its fine selection of restaurants influenced by Rick Stein is just over 20 miles. Harbourside towns & villages such as Fowey, Falmouth & St Mawes are all within easy reach. For those flying to Cornwall, the airport is within easy reach.

The Cathedral City of Truro is in the heart of Cornwall and offers a wealth of facilities for the visitor. Dominated by the stunning cathedral, it is one of the south west's most attractive cities. Lemon Quay plays host to many events throughout the year including the Cornwall Food & Drink Festival in the Autumn and the famous Truro Fatstock Show just before Christmas. Regular farmers markets occur every Wednesdays & Saturday and there are also arts & craft markets on Saturdays. There is a wonderful range of shopping for the visitor including all the regular high street stores including Marks & Spencer, Tescos & Sainsburys, but also a wide range of more specialist stores. It really is worth a wander through the back streets and alleys to find some fabulous little boutiques. Truro has a superb range of restaurants from Bustopher Jones & Mannings on Lemon Street to the always popular Pizza Express. There are lively bars, pubs & nightclubs including the superb Old Ale House, a busy Wetherspoons and the infamous L2 if you are so inclined! The Hall for Cornwall hosts everything from Shakespeare to rock concerts and the cinema on Lemon Street has all the latest releases.

Yet another wonderful stay at Demelza

This was our third time staying at Demelza and on each occasion it gets better and better. Firstly this property should appeal to any couples who are visiting Cornwall for the first time. It is close enough to the City of Truro so that you have the convenience of all the shops, central enough that you can easily explore the majority of Cornwall with most destinations no more than 30 mins by car, whilst also being remote enough that you can forget about the hustle and bustle of normal life. Within a 5 minute drive is the village of Threemilestone which has a lovely pub serving good food all day, convenience store, fish & chips and chinese takeaways. The property is fully stocked with all you need to enjoy a relaxing time away. Martin greeted us when we arrived and had provided us with a lovely cot for our daughter to sleep in along with the usual welcoming treats. Nothing is too much trouble and although Martin is always on hand, you only ever see him if you need him. The surrounding farmland is very peaceful and even the cattle in the next field tend to be very quiet. We had to visit later in the year than usual and was worried about getting out on the beach with our 2 and a half year old daughter, but the lovely Cornish weather only let us down on 3 out of the 14 days with all the others good enough to allow us to not only get on the beach, but also into the sea so don't let the time of year put you off. Would we go back? We've already booked, and can't wait!!!!

We would return

This little cottage was just what we needed. It is ideal for a person with limited mobility like my husband as it is all on one level and has a walk-in shower. The kitchen had all that we could need (except a dishwasher) with a full stove, small refrigerator, microwave, toaster and lots of dishes. The welcome pack of coffee, butter, cheese and baguette was a real treat. The owner was very responsive to our needs when we had questions. We would definitely rent here again.

A little piece of heaven on earth!!

Beautiful, light & spacious accommodation. Homely touches. Welcome gift (bread, butter, milk & cheese) was thoughtful. Quality of goods was luxurious. Very homely. Extremely child friendly. Highly recommend. Great base for exploring many areas of Cornwall. Owners were around if help was needed, nothing was too much trouble. Wish I was there now!!

An absolute gem

Fantastic property. The owner is friendly, introduces you to the property and then leaves you to it. The property itself was superb for our 2 + 2 family. Really well thought out with a nice garden, great views and very secluded yet is 10 minutes from the centre of town and about half an hour from the main sites in the area.

Demelza

This is a beautiful location, we were welcomed personally by Martin the owner, who showed us around. The accommodation was very clean and well kept. It was extremely peaceful and had a veranda, onto which the sun shone, which was particularly nice in the late afternoon/early evening. I later met Martins wife, who was very pleasant, and ensured we were happy with our stay. Would I holiday here again? A very definite yes!

Good value accommodation

This place was very good value for money and excellently furnished and clean. The covered verandah was particularly useful for walkers. Our only issue was that the bed became progressively uncomfortable as the week progressed leaving us with backache. If the mattress were to be replaced with a comfortable one we would give it top rating.

Very relaxing Spring break in a peaceful location

The area is very familiar to us. This was our first stay at Demelza. It compares very favourably when compared to other properties we have stayed at over recent years. The rooms, facilities and equipment were very clean. The space within the rooms was ample. The bed was comfortable for both of us. Plenty of room for parking. Greeted by a local buzzard on our arrival which we observed on many occasions during the week together with other birds and wildlife - attracted by the surrounding trees and farmland. Ideally situated for accessing SW Cornwall.

Perfect place for a cosy break

We have just had the most amazing week at Demelza, it was so peaceful and quiet, Martin was lovely and even brought us a baby bath down for our little girl, the fresh bread, cheese, milk and tea was a nice surprise after a long drive. It was perfectly located within our favourite places in Cornwall. It was lovely and clean, the only thing missing was the sunshine, shame we couldn't have booked that in too. Would recommend to anyone, and will hopefully be back to stay again soon

A quiet and peaceful property in a good central location for the areas of interest to visit

The property was in peaceful setting and was in a good location to visit the places of interest. The owner was helpful and after showing us the practicalities, left us to indulge in the fresh items he had left for us: bread, butter, cheese and the makings for a brew. I would throughly recommend a visit to this property and it offered great value for money.

Overall a lovely holiday home and can't wait to return next year!

A lovely property just enough off the beaten track to be peaceful at all times but still in a great location with easy access to both the North and South coastline of Cornwall. We were greeted by the owners on our arrival and they were very friendly and welcoming taking the time to show us around the property as well as getting to know us and our 5 month old daughter. We had asked for a travel cot which had already been set up for us and also provided us with a baby bath which was a nice surprise. Bread, butter, cheese, milk, tea and coffee waiting for the hungry traveller was a very welcome touch. Great facilities throughout the property both inside and out. Very clean with everything you would need for an enjoyable time away. However if I had to be really critical, (and please note that me and my Fiancée suffer with our backs) we both found the bed to be very uncomfortable as although it was a sprung mattress, it was on a solid base and was therefore much too firm! That said, after a couple of bad nights in the bedroom we moved to using the Sofa bed which was much kinder to us and meant we were able to lay and watch the stars. If the bed had been better it would have been top marks all round! Overall very impressed and as the title says, we can't wait to return, hopefully for longer next time. Thank you for a lovely holiday. Graham, Sair and little Alice
