The farm is located 1.6 miles from Crackington Haven, which is included in the best surfing beaches in England and was recommended by the Marine Conservation Society in its Good Beach Guide. The scenery in the beach area of the surrounding majestic cliffs is almost unrivalled. At high tide, the beach is a mass of quartz-veined pebbles and large boulders but at low tide, it reveals an expanse of sand and many rock pools. Only the road separates the sea from a couple of beach shops, two superb beach cafes and a public house with a restaurant and fantastic terrace.
The farm is located in the parish of St. Gennys, which prides itself on the excellence of its public paths with the National Trust owning most of the cliff and adjacent farmland.
As you travel down the coastline, you can visit quaint coastal villages such as Boscastle, Tintagel and Port Isaac, the latter offering a range of fantastic restaurants where you can enjoy the freshest and most delicious fish.
Fifteen minutes up the coast is Bude, a popular tourist destination for both its surfing and fantastic family beaches in Widemouth Bay. The watchful eye of the RNLI lifeguards allows for some of the best surfing in the world alongside swimming and a whole host of water-based activities. Bude today is a lovely sea-side town, the main shopping streets and inter-connecting alleyways play host to a wide range of locally owned shops, restaurants and pubs. There are boutiques, shoes, arts & crafts, jewellery, hand-made gifts and souvenirs.
6 miles inland is Bodmin Moor, one of Cornwall's designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Cornwall at its wildest and rich in ancient history, Bodmin Moor stretches for 30 miles through the heart of the County of Cornwall and offers spectacular walking and horse riding.
With easy access to the both the A30 and the Atlantic Highway you can quickly travel up and down the South-West to enjoy some of the larger tourist attractions that Devon and Cornwall have to offer.

Summer break exploring North Cornwall

We had a lovely stay at Darzona cottage. Darzonia is a homely, spacious, comfortable and thoughtfully decorated cottage. The location is within easy access to A39 so we managed to visit North and Central Cornwall quite easily. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming and there was cream tea waiting for us when we arrived which was very nice. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Darzona and would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

Blissful break in North Cornwall

We were delighted with our stay at Darzona. Everything from the booking process and directions was straightforward and worked well. The photographs of the property were up to date and accurate, which was very helpful in choosing where to book. The location was not too off the beaten track; you do need a car in this area, but that is to be expected in a rural location. It is quite close to the sea, just over 2 miles' walk or a short drive. The pleasant town of Bude with its sandy beaches is only 10 miles away, while in the other direction are beautiful coastal walks and fascinating history at Boscastle and Tintagel. The cottage itself is a very clever and attractive barn conversion, providing a lot of space and comfort for 2 people. The bedroom is gorgeous and comparable with a very high quality hotel. We enjoy self-catering and the home from home vibe, so were equally pleased by the well-equipped kitchen-diner and cosy sitting room. Our hosts were welcoming and the atmosphere was very relaxing. We would love to return and definitely recommend to others

A great place...

Darzona is a one bedroom apartment on two floors as part of what looks to be a recent barn conversion. It is lovely! It's also quality with everything done tastefully and with no expense spared. An amazingly large and homely bedroom is dominated by a HUGE bed. The kitchen was spotless and full of utensils and modern conveniences including dishwasher and washing machine as well as a fantastic fridge freezer. The lounge has a comfortable sofa and a large tv for when the rain comes. The bathroom is clean and modern. Good parking too. Outside is a terrace shared by all the lets for BBQ and sitting out. We didn't take advantage as the weather was not good but it would have been fine if we had. A farm shop sells meat and eggs and other bits and pieces on an 'honesty box' system. It also has a games room included. Our hosts were great and we're discreet but helpful and friendly if we needed anything. Even the cat and dog were very friendly! It's location is rural but the coast is only a short car ride away. It's actually a charming spot. Good for after food strolls. The one downside is the lack of a pub nearby to wander too and enjoy a change of scene. There are restaurants and pubs but they are all beyond walking distance. Fortunately the charms of the property make up for it and eating in is a joy. Value for money is always tricky but I think it is good. I didn't feel cheated at all. We've stayed at cheaper places but the quality of Darzona was very much greater and you get what you pay for. I'd recommend heartily for a couple who want to take time out for themselves and fancy seeing the fantastic north Cornwall countryside. Enjoy!

Perfect location

Danoza provides clean, well furnished holiday accommodation as part of Penuke Farm cottages,,situated about 10 - 15 minutes walk from Crackington Haven. It is an ideal place to explore that part of the North Cornish coast with Bude, Boscastle and Trabarwith being within easy reach by car (15 - 20 mins. There are easy access walks from the cottage and glorious views along the coastal paths. It is ideal for people who like the beach, surfing and walking. The cottage itself is clean, well furnished and airy. The dining kitchen is spacious and has full kitchen amenities and utensils to be able to cook and bake, if required. The bedroom is large and spacious with a very comfortable super king sized bed. The only very slight downside is for anyone with mobility problems as the bathroom is downstairs. For anyone else however this is not an issue as we found for ourselves. Ross and Becky are very good hosts. They are helpful and friendly and will be very considerate to your needs during your stay. We had a very nice holiday at Penuke Farm and reflecting on the experience are able to say that we would go back again.

A lovely autumn break at Darzona

We stayed at Darzona in early November. It was a lovely and cosy cottage, perfect for the 2 of us. In a great location that is remote enough to get away from it all, but within easy reach of the coast, lovely walks, good restaurants, shops and things to do. Loved the farm shop and most of all we loved Rufus and wish we could have seen him more!
