Flushing, sitting aside the Penryn River opposite Falmouth, was given its name by the dutch who built the three main quays in the village. Several commercial fishing vessels still operate out of Flushing and with its westerly views its a beautiful place to stay. Mylor is more commonly known for its yacht harbour these days. Mylor Yacht Harbour next to Mylor Yacht Club and Windsport International, is home to a fabulous marina with chandlery and several places to eat. Mylor was once home to the famous HMS Ganges, and many of the servicemen rest in the local church. Mylor is also home to the last fleet of traditional oyster dredgers. They dredge by either sail or oar power, no engines are permitted under ancient law on the Port of Truro Oyster Fishery. 

Inland is Mylor Bridge a larger village with local facilities including a shop, butchers, school and pub. Restronguet Creek is best known for its pub on the waters edge, The Pandora Inn offering a fabulous fishy menu, complete with spectacular views at high tide. Devoran at the top of Restronguet Creek, between Penryn and Truro, was initially a farming settlement but grew into a major port for the mining industry in the 19th century. Further up the River Fal you have Coombe, a beautifully quiet and remote location 10 minutes from Truro, with some lovely water side locations, a real countryside escape.
