The closest village to East Thorne is Kilkhampton which dates back to before Saxon times. There you can find the remains of a 12th century motte and bailey style Norman castle. The church of St James the Great is over 450 years old. Both of the two pubs in the village the New Inn and London Inn serve food.
East Thorne is approximately 6 miles to the north of Bude. Bude is Cornwall's most northern town and has been a favourite seaside resort since Victorian times. The coastal scenery surrounding the beaches of is quite beautiful, boasting some of the finest sandy beaches and the best surfing in England! The town has excellent facilities and a wide selection of interesting, independent shops. This idyllic area has a large amount of bird life for the dedicated twitcher and some wonderful, scenic walks along the South West coastal path.
The centre of Bude is a lively hub with concerts, dances and fetes as well as other events throughout the season, including an annual Carnival Week. The town has a host of pubs, cafes and restaurants to suit every palate and there is a new Visitors Centre in the Crescent car park, a large children's play area, a 19th century canal and a small wharf amongst many other attractions. Bude is also home to the internationally acclaimed jazz festival which takes place each August.
Further along the coast is Sandymouth, a large beach ideal for families due to its lovely sand, rock pools and tea rooms. A short drive north over the border into Devon leads to the quaint village of Hartlandwith its very own shipwreck! Also well worth a visit is the world famous fishing village of Clovelly. The cobbled, traffic-free, high street is built into a cleft in a 400' high cliff and tumbles its way down past whitewashed cottages festooned with flowers to the tiny working port.

This cottage is beautiful, Naomi and Adam are so welcoming and friendly. They're about it you need them for anything, always with a smile and a cheery hello. The log burner is fantastic, we had it on twice even though we didn't really need it, haha. The location is on private land and it feels extremely safe and secure. We would definitely go again and would highly recommend it to family and friends. Overall a fantastic place to stay :-)

Excellent cottage. Very clean well equipped. Tastefully decorated, have already recommended to a friend. Good location for discovering north Cornwall.
Guest from Norwich stayed for 4 nights.
This was our second stay and just as good as the first. Firstly the location is lovely, surrounded by fields and lots of winding country roads. Probably not ideal if you don't have a car to explore the area though. Bude is nearby with lovely little shops and places to eat, as well as the coastline. The complex itself is very well maintained, particularly liked the addition of the seating area opposite the cottages, as well as the table and chairs immediately outside the door, ideal for breakfasting! Inside everything was as expected, clean, tidy and well kept. Very quiet environment with no disturbances or outside noise. Particularly liked the brownies on arrival, a very nice touch!! Kitchen well equipped with crockery and microwave - we kept our meals fairly simple - not sure how it would be for adventurous cooks!! During our stay we ventured down the atlantic coastline - would recommend Newquay for the aquarium and zoo, lovely typical cornish seaside town. Also went to the Lizard and Mullion this time, a long drive but well worth it. Previously we had been to lands end and the Eden project - again would recommend both if you don't mind driving. Overall a superbly placed complex with charming scenery - well kept and maintained, lovely warm welcome from the owners and nothing was too much trouble. Despite vein quite remote, ideally placed for discovering Cornwall and Devon. We will be back, also intrigued by the yurts and want to try one!

Guest from Sawbridgeworth stayed for 7 nights.
We had a lovely stay at East Thorne. We stayed at Cranny Cottage on the site, rather than one of the yurts. The accommodatoin was clean, spacious, and well equipped. If you're looking for a peaceful stay in Cornwall, near excellent beaches, and with plenty of space for children to roam around, I thoroughly recommend you try this site. It was also excellent value for money.
