St Ives (Cornish: Porth Ia) lies north of Penzance and west of Camborne on the coast of the Celtic Sea. In former times it was commercially dependent on fishing but has become renowned for its number of artists. The Tate St Ives exhibits work by modern British artists, including work of the St Ives School. The three storey building lies on the site of an old gas works, overlooking Porthmeor Beach. The Tate also manages the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden. The St Ives September Festival, runs annually and is one of the longest running and widest ranging Festivals of the Arts in the UK. It last 15 days and includes a range of arts from music to poetry, film, talks and books. St Ives harbour is still a working port where you can watch the local fishermen landing their daily fresh catches of locally caught seafood. It is very sheltered and a perfect sun-trap in the heart of the town. Porthmeor beach has fine golden sand and is a wonderful beach for surfing with a surf school. During the summer trained lifeguards ensure the bathing is as safe as possible. There are restaurant and cafe facilities right on the beach with toilets and beach huts on the terrace behind.

We booked last minute and were not disappointed. A home from home in beautiful countryside near St Ives with homemade scones awaiting us on arrival. The cottage was very well equipped, comfortable and warm with easy access to the main towns and villages nearby. The owners were super helpful in offering local advice of what was worth visiting during our short stay. We would highly recommend staying here.

Well we wanted to go to St. Ives but couldn't find anywhere to say. Then I stumbled upon this lovely place and it was really great. Being able to pull up and park with your car is not usually possible in central St. Ives but the cottage was only a 10 minute drive away and with wonderful rolling hills and views this was very pleasant. We arrived to fresh scones and clotted cream and jam and the place was very comfortable. Our kids loved it and the shower was v good also.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chypons Waterside. Kate and Julian were very accommodating. The house was clean, modern and tidy. We were left some milk, tea and coffee as we arrived the early hours of the morning. We are already looking at going back early next year and can't wait.

Lovely quaint cottage, situated in lovely countryside not far from St Ives and Penzance. Although we arrived quite late due to traffic, we had a warm friendly greeting by Julian one of the owners and were left some lovely freshly baked Cornish scones, jam and clotted cream. The cottage was lovely and cosy, clean and very welcoming. We were not too far away from the train station and enjoyed our short train journey into St .Ives on Saturday, and the fare was reasonably priced too. We hope to come back and stay there again in the near future. Will definitely recommend it to family and friends.

We enjoyed a great week in the lovely, cosy, clean and well appointed cottage. The hosts Julian and Kate were very welcoming and helpful. They provided us with valuable local information. It was in a good location between St Ives and Penzance. After touring and sight seeing it was a quiet, relaxing cottage to come back to. We would definitely recommend Chypons and will hopefully go back again.

Well equipped cottage in a peaceful, rural setting and a lovely garden to enjoy. The owners were on hand to help if required and provided flowers and a cream tea on arrival. Well situated to visit beaches and walk along the cliffs in the St Ives area. A very pleasant stay.

Waterside Cottage was delightful! Just how I imagined a Cornish cottage should be. It was in excellent condition, well maintained and perfectly located. The gardens and summer house provided a great outdoor area to relax in of an evening. The lack of mobile signal in the cottages was more than made up for by the strength of the wifi and Kate/Julian's willingness to order taxi's if required. Both Kate and Julian were great hosts, providing ideas for days out, places to eat etc. Nothing was too much trouble and they couldn't have been more helpful. I would recommend Chypons Waterside without hesitation.

We had an excellent holiday at Chypons Waterside. The cottage was in a perfect location between St. Ives and Penzance, and within easy travelling distance to west Cornwall's beautlful countryside and coast. The owners of the cottage welcomed us with a traditional cream tea, and were extremely helpful advising on suitable walks, local attractions and places to eat. The cottage was quiet and peaceful with access to a lovely summer house and secluded garden. The cottage was comfortable and well equipped.

My husband and I returned from a lovely week in Cornwall having booked a late availability deal here at Chypons Farm. The farm buildings have been converted to a high standard and Waterside Cottage was well equipped and well furnished, tastefully decorated and homely and suited our needs perfectly with the added nicety of fresh flowers on our arrival. Our local bread, eggs and veg from a local farm were waiting for us on arrival (pre ordered just a few days earlier). Julian and Kate are friendly hosts and are on hand for any local information that may be required (there is also local tourist info in the cottage). No mobile phone signal but free WiFi. Chypons farm is in a good location and in a very scenic area. We visited Penzance, St Ives, Zennor, St Just, Heligan, Porthleven, Marazion, Trengwainton Gardens and Godrevy. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing Cornwall in the spring with lovely daffodils in the fields, road sides and verges plus a lot of yellow gorse in bloom.

On arrival we were met by the owners, Kate and Julian, who were very welcoming. The cottage was lovely and a cream tea had been left for us. The garden and summerhouse at the accommodation was an added bonus, ideal for relaxing in with a cup coffee. Julian gave us lots of suggestios of where to visit and which beaches had great cafes etc. We wanted a great holiday and that's exactly what we got.

We enjoyed every day at Chypons Waterside. Kate and Julian were lovely hosts and we felt very welcome. They took care that we get everything we need. The cottage was very comfortable and good equipped (we missed nothing). It was also a good place to start day trips (Julian gave us a lot of advices) or to stay in their "botanical garden".

Lovely welcome, very friendly and especially enjoyed the cream scones! Cottage was clean, warm and cosy and we loved the local pub The Engine, attending the quiz and firework display. Would highly recommend a stay here and hope to return in the future.

A very relaxing stay. The accommodation is very comfortable and well equipped and Julian and Kate are very 'welcoming' hosts providing very helpful information about eateries and places to visit etc. Situated in a very quite location about 3 km out of St Ives avoids the hassle of driving into and parking in St Ives that one would have with accommodation in the town. Very easy to access the main routes to the north and south via the back roads and avoiding the town. We would definitely book here again if planning a future holiday in the St Ives area.
Guest from Leek stayed for 7 nights.
The cottage was very well equipped and very nicely decorated! The use of the garden with the summer house is a nice touch and the owners were very helpful and friendly.
